I just installed these and boy what a difference! I did not re-use the mounting pads because the metal seemed much better on the new one’s. Each old one had a bolt and 3 self tapping screws. Referenced the mounting holes based on the bolt hole location. Had to mark and drill a few new holes but that wasn’t a big deal. With the right tools, bits and know how it’s an easy upgrade. Pro-tip. When you install them extend them down so you don’t have to fight them… otherwise a pair of vice grips help hold them up.

I enjoyed watching your video and I'm considering the possibility of upgrading my own stabilizers. I went to Amazon to check them out and read some of the review comments and was surprised to see that some people didn't think these are very good. It occurred to me, as I read, that these folks think these jacks can be used to level their trailers.
Being that you have ample experience as an RVer, you are aware that these jacks are not meant to be used as levellers but only for stabilizing a trailer. The folks that didn't like these, seemed to think that they could handle the weight of their 7000 lb trailer because the jacks are rated for 7500 lbs.
Maybe they weren't given a proper walkthrough when they purchased their trailer or, maybe they weren't paying close attention (it happens) or, third case scenario, they bought it used from someone but, I distinctly recall our service guy telling us to NEVER use these jacks for levelling as that is not their intended purpose. They are only meant to stabilize the trailer to make it more solid and less side to side movement.
I left a comment on one of those reviews and I know you're in the know but I thought I would just bring this up here as well so other folks understand the purpose of these jacks.

Wayne Shufelt thank you! You’re exactly right. That said these jacks would easily handle the weight of our trailer. The main reason for not leveling with stabilizer jacks boils down to torquing the unit. When pressure is placed on on only corner of the rig doors may not shut, windows could have issues. Slides may stick,ect.
@@WanderingWeekends Thanks for your reply and you're right as well. They may handle the extra weight but it sounds like we agree, they weren't meant to be used that way. I recall the service guy mentioning that as well so, I'm sticking to levelling blocks and fewer expenses. Things last longer that way.
The Wingman has said it over and over again that as RVers and RV wannabees, we have to do our "due diligence" and know our rigs from top to bottom, learn about the components that make up our home away from home.

While I completely understand these aren’t levelers, our single axle trailer is 5K soaking wet. Just as a test I jacked it up after install and they didn’t even groan a bit. Good to know in a pinch if I had to change a tire roadside along with a bottle jack they shouldn’t give way. Again I understand that’s not their intended use…
You should probably have used the upper mount pad that came with the new jacks as they are probably heavier than the original ones that you left on.
K Male surprising they looked the same. Also, they were welded on so I didn’t want to get into that type of job. I certainly wouldn’t want to weld on a frame still under warranty. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I replaced mine with the 5k jacks. And I replaced the whole thing. No welds on mine just 2 self tappers and a nut an bolt. Was really easy. I preferred to swap out the whole unit as it is. To each they’re own :)
Lol, thanks. I never thought of leaving old mount and replace the rest. I was thinking i needed to grind off old weld on mounts.
Comprised the capacity... without using the new brackets.

Sooooooo it finally happened... I wasn't thinking while adjusting the truck/trailer in front of my house and caused the tail end of the trailer to catch a huge bolder in the yard. It destroyed the rear passenger stabilizer jack. I watched this video a while back and remembered you recommended this brand so I'll be ordering one soon. Thanks!

I ended up installing the 7500LB on my Grand Design front end. I will replace the rear as well since the kit come with four. I had no choice went over a rail road on my last trip and the front stabilizer's hit the rail. I did not notice until we got to the park.Not fun but the truck rides so much higher than the trailer.
Doug Meyer I’ve wanted new jacks for awhile and being under warranty I probably could have convinced Grand Design to send me a set of 5000lb for free but I couldn’t justify asking for that. I had a car suddenly take up a lane I was planning on using and had to turn too sharply about a month ago. The trailer dipped off the road and bent a jack. In the right rear. Made my decision for me. I’m so glad I replaced the other 3 now after seeing such a difference. Big difference inside the rig as well.

what a great find for me......... i wondering why not level vs stablize my rig w the proper size scissor jacks vs those plastic blocks that are so weak...... maybe put some wood blocking under the tires if they come off the ground but i am feed up w/ leveling the rig w/ the step blocking method. the plastic is costly and i see rigs w/ 3 and 4 sets of the plactic junky blocking....

Incorrect. Tried that, they were plenty tight.
You should have changed the mounts for the ones that came with the new jacks.
Those were welded and really sturdy. It’s been a few years now and still really happy.

Going from 2500 lbs to 7500 lbs, who would have thought the metal on the new jacks would be thicker and more heavy duty
I'm new at this, thank you for the video. I have 4 on a small one axle trailer. However, first time I took it out, I forgot to crank up these stabilizers. I only pulled about 2 feet ahead before I realized it, so I stopped went out to crank up and one had a bent prong on the one in the rear. It took a lot out of me to crank back up as to the prong looked like a boomerang! I haven't been able to replace yet. So I don't use it, I just leave it up. The other 3 are fine, and I won't forget again! But, I do need to replace that one, as to every time I step into the trailer, I feel like I have vertigo. Let me ask u, they call it eaz jack.....do u still have to hand crank it up and down? Or... what makes it easy? Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope u have.... any good suggestions would b great. Hand cranking is getting hard on me. I have carpal tunnel. Jeeesh, this old crank up n down crap is starting to tire me out. Lolz.
JoPaddy Art & Entertainment appreciate you watching! Still very happy with these jacks. I simply use a cordless drill with a 3/4inch socket to zip the jacks up and down. No problems at all!

@@FEARLESSME-JoPaddy- keep you jack screw's{ ACME THREADED ROD} greased and clean and use a drill . Lucas grease red and tacky is my go to on all things like that but any bearing grease will work Moly grease is best in bearings to me i never use cheap stuff it suks ..at least spray lube /or oil it be for each use it will last 10 times longer

You aren’t ever using them to their full capacity. The heavier jacks are simply better built therefore they outperform the factory jacks. They’re only there to stabilize, not level. Your GVWR isn’t a factor here…
@@WanderingWeekends Yes, I always have the trailer level b4 putting the stabilizer jacks down. I try not to extend them more than halfway using blocks of wood on the ground if need be. After seeing your video, I can’t believe the difference in the 7500s compared to the factory. I still get quite a bit of movement with this unit so I’ll need to invest in 4 new jacks. I honestly did not even think about this upgrade. Thank you for your help.
They build trailers as cheap as possible.
Then they sell you the upgrades.

Are these jacks capable of lifting your trailer? Tire changing.
Capable... yes. Recommended... no. They’re only used for stabilizers. The frame of the trailer may not agree with using them to raise the rig off of the ground.

Did you try tightening the bolts that helf the old jack? You know the loose ones at the joint that was wiggling
Yep… the jacks were flimsy.
I would not have used the old jack brackets to put the new ones on. It's the same cheap crap the old jacks were made of. That's why the new jacks have the neat brackets with all the holes to accommodate installation. But if they seem OK, fine.
Silas Longshot they were welded. The brackets weren’t the issue. It’s been a few years now. The best dollar for dollar upgrade we’ve made.

Great video. I have a salem 273qbxl with the factory Jacks. I also have 4 sets of strongarms which helped a lot. Its still a little wiggly. I understand will never be like a house lol. So do you think it is worth it to upgrading to these enough that I would notice a difference?
If your jacks still wobble when fully retracted I would upgrade.

Any corrosion problems on the screws? My 5k jacks on my Jayco 26BH require the use of an impact driver to operate after 7 years. Have you had to lube them or anything?
Not yet! These are 3 years old. Lubricant will allow them to back off much easier. Time will tell.
Just bought our 2020 - 2800bh camper last year and we had theses in our cart as a possible upgrade. Just went to order them and they are no longer available on Amazon. ☹️ just wondering if the “Libra brand” is just as good to upgrade to? Thanks

How are they holding up so far? Any difference in stabilizing ? I did install stab locks on my stock stabilizers and they helped but this looks like a no brained upgrade. I like things solid.
Big difference. Dollar for dollar this is possibly the best upgrade we've done.

What is the advantage of the increased 7500 lb rating vs the weaker stabilizers that come with the 2800 bh since they simply stabilize the TT vs actually lift it
They don’t back off nearly as bad. Big improvement actually. I see what you’re thinking but increased capacity=increased stability in this case. Best $ for $ mod we have made.
@@WanderingWeekends thx for the clarification - our dealer told us to keep in mind to replace the jacks because they do get damaged - lol and behold I damaged one in our last trip - might as well replace them all while I am working up a sweat.
Wandering Weekends great video. Do you find the jack upgrade makes a noticeable difference in stability when you’re walking around inside the trailer? I have an Imagine 3000QB, very similar to your 2800BH...
Absolutely... made a huge difference for us. I believe you may have better jacks than we did though. GDRV started putting 5000lb jacks on the Imagine line shortly after we purchased ours. These have been a great investment.

Wandering Weekends I’ve stacked the same way for over ten years with different trailers with no issues. It’s only an issue if you don’t put your leveler jacks down at the same time so the trailer is more secure during windy days. If you stacked them off center then yeah that would be a problem but why would anyone do that lol.
You just weaken the new lifts by using the lower grade steel mounting bracket from the old lift. If you notice it came as one complete assembly with the bolt pattern already in the mounting plate those stabilizers no longer have a 7500 pound capacity
I don’t need 30,000 lbs of capacity and these are not “lifts”. The purpose of this upgrade is to increase stability while parked/camping. It’s been a few years and they’re doing great.
Well then I ask you most importantly have they made a big difference in sway of the camper when it’s parked and set up? I’m about to purchase the same Jack’s for my Rockwood and was also considering the JT strong arms and was curious if the jacks alone made a difference.
I have read some not good reviews on these . Any update how are the holding up
