I have the mts211si, great welder. Ran it most of the time with fluxcore and just started to tig with it. Had some issues over the years and for the most part the warranty covered the issues. I live in Hawaii and had to ship it in for service, but when i got it back it was worse than when i sent it in. Matt at everlast did his best to take care of me to get me burning again, props to him. But in the future I'll be going with a different brand and not a multi process machine.

    Good review of the machines!
I usually am using flux core for most stuff I do, but my MTS275 welds 6010 but it is not as old as yours so maybe there have been improvements. It takes some getting used to as the machine is inverter based and not transformer based (what most of us learned on). Inverters prefer a tight arc for 6010 and the arc force control encourages this type of welding (my old Miller xmt300 inverter was similar). Where a long arc whip and pause type technique is used with a transformer based welder for 6010, the opposite is true with inverter stick welding. I find using circles or a v instead of whipping works with the inverters as the arc won't extinguish but you still get the freeze with 6010. The manual suggests for best E6010 and cellulose type rod performance, to use the Power-Set function and select the 6010 electrode and make adjustments from that menu and to the arc-force as needed. In manual mode (not power-set) the performance mode for E6010 is not available and it won't work well with 6010. Manual mode is good for E7018 and other rods, including stainless, aluminum, or specialty rods not listed in the Power-Set menu. Using about 60% -80% arc force with 6010 and 6011 electrodes helps a lot. 7018 rod normally likes a lower arc-force around 20% - 40% on most machines.

Damn it! I'm an American consumer, and I deserve an affordable Laser welder.

I owe a little dual voltage 210 dc stick, tig. I do a ton of stick welding in all positions never hit the duty cycle I've welded up to 170 amps, and I will say this machine arch gouges like a animal you don't need crazy amps for that 190 180 on 1/4 carbon rods work amazing. I've welded 7.25hrs straight with this monster and it performed better then any miller and any Lincoln I've ever ran and I've ran a lot of them lmao. The stick welding is amazing very smooth and doesn't miss a beat even after a long day of welding 5/32 7018 and 7024 jet just impresses me every time. I'm talking to Everlast about a engine drive, so we will see. I didn't buy this to tig weld but it does do a great job when needed but ac would be nice. I bought this for 500 or about 6yrs ago and this machine has out performed my esab, millers, Lincolns, I just cant tell you how shocked I really am. Super light, Ive taken out to islands on the lakes and welded hand rails etc, I made up a power sourse I take with me for them jobs the total weight I carry might be 20lbs maybe that everything. I love it

I always wondered how good those welders were. I never actually knew anyone that had one.

I avoided stick welding and used in necessity only. My stick time not a great adventure, until I bought this 255EXT. I now prefer stick over mig, fc. This machine makes it fun. Smooth and predictable. Easy starts which were never my strong point. This thing makes me look better than I ever thought possible.

Can't believe the 275 can't run 6010 and, on the website, it says e6010 capable.

I have an Everlast and it's good, but I only buy eBay welders now. They are so cheap warranties are useless and time-consuming. My two Lincoln's and Everlast are backups now.
When my 210 MP main board went out just after the warranty expired it was like $600 just for the mainboard, that was it for me.
I would rather buy three welders from eBay for $600 than one welder for $600 or more. Duty cycle is overrated. Most people worrying about it will never even hit the limit.
If you're a full-time welder doing pipe or structural things I wouldn't go the eBay route, but then again I wouldn't go with Everlast either.
My advice is anything under a grand just buy a couple eBay welders. Especially if you're just a hobbyist fabricator.
    👍
    Edit:
You don't need all of those different settings. I thought I would use them all and I don't even touch them.

    • @FreedomInc
      @FreedomInc Před rokem +1

You dont use them. That doesn't mean that they won't be useful to someone else.
Everlast replaced my motherboard 3 months after the warranty ran out. The ebay welders are junk. Unstable arcs. Hard restarts. All the issues with all the processes.

That's a good question, I just ordered one and it's somewhere in shipping. I'm replacing the Canadian equivalent of a Titanium 125 with it so I'm looking forward to putting it through it's paces.

Hello there, do you have any suggestions how I can take that 220 3-prong plug and use it on my four prong outlet, is there some adapter for that or do I have to change the outlet? Thank you

I own an Everlast 255EXT And have no issue with restarts. I did however up grade wire size on negative lead. Check your polarity. Add arc force and start amps. Time. 0 4. Use fresh rods. R
