- This wasn't a battle but more like an exhibition. I love me some Boyz 2 Men and I love me some EXO. One of the reason I really liked EXO because they seemed to combine both of my fave all time groups Boyz 2 Men & NSYNC. What groups are the vocal kings for this new era? Let us know below

I’m loving how y’all are starting to notice Baekhyuns vocals a lot more. Imo his vocals are the glue that fits all of vocal line together.
I wish Boyz 2 Men actually see Exo's performance ? Maybe they did.
The audio really did justice to Exo, ain't gonna lie. We can't compare, the two have outstanding vocals.

in EXO's perfromance, all of them were singing. D.O was doing the lower harmonies and Luhan was just doing a slightly deeper version of what Chen was singing.
Tbh there’s another version of exo singing this song without the audio and they still sound amazing even without the layered harmonies, exo harmonies are amazing
That "something weird" in the audio for the Exo version is an ADT effect, or "automated double tracking." It's an effect that sounds like a doubling of the vocal. It's extremely common, and it is very subtle unless you use too much of it, and that's what happened here. The performance is still really good. The audio engineer just fell in love with that effect and used too much of it in the final mix.

I do agree with you, BSB have a great harmonization too... The reason I love EXO the first time I heard them coz I remember BSB from them... and monster is the first song that I heard from exo that made me to search about them...

Yo, Boyz II Men can kick everyone’s butt when it comes to vocal harmonies, however, 1). being one man down makes difference and 2). this wasn’t the song for them. Also, their mics were dead on that first performance (needed a li’l reverb or supmn ) whilst Exo’s performance had a lot of audio help. That said, the Exo vocal line can do no wrong in my eyes so there’s not really any point in me trying to critique them!
PS: I agree with Jaspy; Backstreet Boys mustn’t be slept on - their acapella game is strong! BUT, in terms of coming close to Boyz II Men - Ima say Jodeci.

Just a little heads up/correction... Whenever they covered this song D.O sang the low harmony while Luhan was on the high harmony. If you listen to one of their live cover for this you'd understand what I meant.
Also although Lulu raps nowadays, he has *A LOT* of vocal (?) songs too. For example: Catch Me When I Fall, Promises, Skin To Skin, On Call etc. Y'all can check them out if you want. His solo discography is a noice mix of rap and vocals.

Gosh I hate laughing about things that aren't nice so I hate myself a bit because the open vocal cords made me laugh T_T I actually made the same observation with the second one, that it was in falsetto, and I was trying to remember if they did that a lot. I liked it though, Boyz 2 Men bring up so many childhood memories for me. The EXO one, I've seen too many times to say anything again lol

Are you seriously comparing EXO to Boyz 2 Men, really? Backstreet boys sound like them please, maybe that is why, your ears are going bad... EXO are great in vocals don't get me wrong but you can't compare them to a group like that. VOS or SG Wannabe, or TVXQ when they were 5 or even now, but EXO nope... What is next Brian McKnight sounds like Chen?
