      It's not easy, it's a real struggle when you start out but you'll find ways to steady yourself and predict water movement. A good pair of fins for all the kicking is also a help.

    I've been stick welding for about a year now, plate and pipe. How hard is it to get into this field and what's the difference in the rods? Is it a wax coating instead of flux?

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  Před 5 lety +2

      Quite often we just use a standard böhler ohv rod dipped in wax, but there are some made for wet welding. Depends on the job.
      It’s not hard getting the dive license you just sign up for training at a dive academy near you, but getting a job afterwards can take some time, depending on how high the demand is.

    Hi Allan, apparently you are using exodus cutting rods. Do you feel any difference compared to the well known black taped rods ?

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  Před 5 lety +1

      Hello Francis!
      I find that we don't have problems with the rods touching metal and getting gas coming through perforated tape like on the black or yellow taped rods. When we switched most of us divers found that they could be a little harder to re-ignite than taped ones if you'd used half the rod, but it's not something I think about any more. We like them.

    • @francishermans758
      @francishermans758 Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for your reply Allan, that’s what the divers over here (Belgium) also told me. It was a little problem for them at the beginning especially for the water we have here where we often have nil or reduced visibility.But apparently once you know from where the problem comes, it is easy to immediately take care of it and feel the end of the rod before resuming the cut.
