After 30+ years in the Army I can tell you claymore mines are very stable. I can also tell you that if you had found one that was already primed(though it would still be very stable) and somehow managed to set it off, good news!, you wouldn't have felt a thing. You would have just woke up in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates like "What happened?" St. Peter would've been like "Well, you found this claymore..."

The door to the workroom was held open by an inert mortar round, but after I'd been there for awhile I took a closer look at it, and it turned out to be the real thing, a live mortar projectile. If anyone finds a claymore, generally it is safe if there is no detonator in the wells on the top. Or small diameter wires. From a distance if it is blue it is a training aid and is inert. The same goes for landmines, grenades, trip flares etc. Blue = safe.
The detonators are usually hardwired to a spool of cable. Be more wary of pulling up a cable with a silver half cigarette sized piece on the end.
Electrical detonators are waterproof to a point and the most sensitive part of a firing circuit.. if a detonator goes of in a closed hand it's not pretty. If it explodes in the open it can still penetrate your eyeballs or skin with pieces of metal foil. Underwater it will burst your eardrums and mess you up. If it goes off in a booster or actual ordinance you are handling or too close to... pink mist.
That firing device is a piezoelectric "clacker" the same is used in training as for the real thing. Not dangerous. Unless hooked up to the detonator.
If anyone finds anything like this it is best you look before you touch. Look at it from all angles and make notes. Don't disturb it. Inform authorities. Better safe than sorry. Unexploded ordinance is dangerous. It lies there for years and can still activate despite how much time has past.
People are still finding landmines from ww1 in farmland around Belgium 105 years later. I have been in the Solomon islands where bombs still explode to this day after falling from trees they were hung up in during ww2.
Landmines are still prevalent in many places with local populations feeling the effects and losing limbs to this day.. Cambodia, Angola, Mozambique, Iran / Iraq, Afghanistan, Balkans etc.
Be safe. Cheers
I don't think the balkans has anymore active landmines. I would know. I live there and still have my limbs.
So If I want to be a nasty bugger I paint the real ones blue for maximum effect?
K
@@aventh1114 nasty buggers who play with and modify explosive ordinance have a tendency to lose limbs in the process.

No caps no boom. The c4 explosive without detonators "caps" is ration heating fuel.
Take a steel pot and dump the mains from a couple of different rats in it.
Crack open a real claymore and remove the c4, get rid of the rest of it!
Little balls of the c4 will get it hot quick.
Bon Appetit!
@@jeanbaptistevallee4500 Why would you want to eat the main parts of different rats? I wouldn't want to eat any part of even one rat, let alone different ones.
Comp B is not dangerous unless you can hit it with the force of tnt.

"He said I should be fine"
*Famous last words*
Claymores are harmless by themselves... They require a detonator to be inserted, it's just plastic explosives with a ton of steel balls.
Explosives are in general really safe... issue is the detonators, those fuckers can go off when dropped, smacked or otherwise thrown about.

7:10 goes with the claymores he found, that’s an electrical trigger that you would squeeze and when you push the trigger down it would blow the claymores, don’t know if it’s live so good thing he didn’t squeeze the trigger or else it could’ve blown the claymores if they were live.
You right the device teller to go of has to be broken it’s not water proof
yeah that was a real clacker for claymores, and that spool of wire you had at 11:00 is the wire you'd use to connect the clacker to a claymore so that when the enemy walks in front of the mine, you squeeze the clacker a couple times and it sends an electrical pulse to the mine setting it off. the blue colour unless it's soviet era weapons (unlikely to find in the US), is standard for dummy/inert training devices. cool find though, probably would've had the same reaction if i found a claymore in the river until i could confirm if it was live or not, and i've worked on an EOD (bomb disposal) team before.

I love the fact he kept the glass pipe lmao
@11:00 mins in, that spool of wire on your board is the det-cord for the "mines". That cord would attach to the trigger device you found, and then would go into the mine via the screws in the tops of the dummy mines. Then your give yourself some distance with the cord, stash out somewhere, and wait for your enemy to stroll past, then *click* BOOM. The real ones work similar to a massive shotgun blast x1000. Hundreds of pellets. But they are trigger detonates, not automatic or with lasers like in games. The wire piece under the trigger is the "safety" and prevents accidental depression of the trigger when its up. Stringing up several claymores in a row is whats called a "daisy chain".
Havent played with those since I was in basic training in 2008. right there in a that same state. Ft. Benning.

but why there is a detonateur near the claymores ?
@@Bielorussepursang also for training purposes
The training kits had a real detonator in them. The kits were usually in a canvas satchel. With this many together, they were probably a kit that was lost by an army unit, or National Guard/ Reserve unit that was training near there. Somebody mentioned below this area was near Fort Benning

I actually have one. I collect inert ordinance. They fetch about 200-300 beans for a set. I think the detonator (clackers) are still live and legit if I remember right. There should be 4 more down there and some wires and mock fuses that connect to the clacker.
Love that you found a ‘huge cone’ at 4:20 haha

The reaction when you found that first one was so funny! xD Understandable but hilarious still!
Very cool. Is that very close to Ft Benning? I'm wondering if those didn't wash down after floods? That or some soldier threw then out of his car deciding he didn't want to keep them.
Great channel. Just found you today.

When you're done practicing with your claymores and decide to chuck them off a bridge...

Was that a chuck Norris pun?
FENGER I do whether or not I’m scared. Coming out of pressure with a full bladder doesn’t feel great.

You do great vids. Maybe dive near where a broken arrow incident happened or near the suspected crash site of flight 19 in Georgia swamps/Florida coast.
