It's time to reap the fruits of a successful growing season. It is the 2nd week of October and that means the start of the season! Today the 2 year old Go-Sanke fish are being harvested.
Two days before the harvest, the drains were opened so that the water level could slowly drop. This is necessary to catch the fish easily and safely.
Masaru Seito sets the pace. The two sons Kensuke and Kosuke are eagerly awaiting instructions from their father.
After spending 4 months in this nutrient-rich environment, the Koi are ready to be sold. Only the very best are left behind in Japan to go through the same cycle next year. The bigger and better the fish, the higher the value.
The colors are so intense that it looks like they were painted on by an artist.
To be able to speak of a perfect growing season, you depend on Mother Nature. High humidity, high temperatures and rain are 3 important factors that play a role in the growing season. Where there was a shortage of rain last year, everything seems to be different this year. Masaru San looks with satisfaction at his offspring.
Masaru carefully closes the transport tank. Ready to watch the quality and growth back at the Koi house.
Tancho, Showa, Sanke and Kohaku, all 4 varieties that are separated from each other here at the koi house. Masaru Seito checks in which pond the fish can come to swim. Everything based on quality, size and potential.
Tomorrow morning, the first local Koi dealers will be on the doorstep, hoping to be the first to select new koi for their overseas customers.
My eye falls on the showa. The black also called Sumi has developed great.
An important feature to see if the fish have grown well is to measure them. At this age, the fish sometimes grow enormously.

Koi are one of the most loving and amazing fish in the world.. they are humble in nature.. they dont shake much when they are caught..
This video without the filters like the previous videos looks much better.
May not be as cinematic but way better to appreciate all the colors of the koi.👌🏽😁

I am from palakkad in kerala INDIA. I love the koi with red round on the head and body full of black, red and White. It is not available at fish shops nearby. When the koi is come my nearby fish shop i will try my best to buy the koi it cost around 140 INR of each peice

Those Sanke that were being Harvested after the Growing season are absolutely stunning.
There was a few that I would jump to buy them.

Really amazing video mate. But one thing (ik wil niet zeiken) there where only kohaku and sanke. There is one sanke with showa sumispots but it is a sanke. Clean ofcenter maruten spot with no sumi on the head and tejime and no motoguro. But amazing koi! Greetings Jeroen

Wtf ik heb ze niet gezien op het filmpje... maar weet je wat heel leuk is van deze video dat het in 10 minuten laat zien hoe het er in Japan met het oogsten aan toe gaat. Voor mensen nieuw in de hobby er interessant omdat je niet te veel info verteld maar het overzichtelijk en duidelijk houd. Nogmaals dank
I always wonder how they are able to hold the koi without dropping them and how the koi don't flop around at all while being carried, if those were my koi they would be flying out of my hand :)

He is changing the water they were in without any kind of acclimation is it safe. Or are big fish more resilient to water changes?

If I put a big koi in a pond with smaller koi.....will the bigger koi eat the others?
My entire life I always had around the same size so I really don't know and I wanted to ask before experimenting
It depends on the size of the small koi. Are they fry? 2cm? Then there is a possibility that some of are gonna be eten. But of you have a Sansai 65 cm and a tosai of 15 cm its not a problem

Anyone else think the koi's colours and skin quality looks better in Japan's water compared to the uk's harder water. From what I've seen the koi start to deteriorate once in different water. I'd be interested in others opinions on this?. Or am I just imagining things lol
We also have very hard water here in Holland... but I think it depends on the variety some are doing very good and some loose some colors. But yes it has to do with the water quality.. and in the end... they look amazing in Japan 😃
@@TheKoiPartner they certainly do look fantastic, think it's got to be the soft water. My water is up around the 300+ and 8-8.2 pH so alot harder than japanese water and more alkaline. Keep the great vids coming 👍
Why not try reverse RO. Thats the way to get to the low 7 ph. Rastakoi have got Some video’s about RO and also the koiguru Mike Snaden. Beter and happyer koi and less healtproblems. Just like the koi in Japan before they are send all over the world i think the best way to get suchlike results as they achieve in Japan is with Reverse RO.
@@jeroennishikigoi1164 I'm thinking about it but on a water meter it's quite expensive to run so I'm looking at recycled RO and trying to figure out a good setup. 👍
