That cannonier fight is where Sean said he learned about “optics” says he landed more and got hit less but Jared looked like the aggressor and won as a result. That’s why you’ll see Sean look more aggressive in fights after this.
I agree, I'm watching it and Sean's outlanding him but Jared coming forward makes him look more dominant.
I really wish Strickland would use his damn grappling for more than just getting back to the feet to swing. He’s supposed to be a menace on the ground. I’ve heard a lot of people say this. Now I want to see it.
Unfortunately, he likes to hit and get in the head way too much to grapple. Kinda what makes him a fun personality, a really skilled fighter that prefers trading blows rather than winning fights

He's definitely a good fighter, and he's very difficult the first time you fight him. He also seems like he's finally addressed his lack of leg kick defense.
It amazed me when he fought Izzy how he didn't give him any chances to leg kick, I remember there was a stat that showed Izzy landed like 40 leg kicks(UFC live stats I think, so take it with a fistful of salt lol) and yet Sean had no problems with his legs. Usually fighters have issues after so many leg kicks, but Sean defended so well it didn't affect him in the least, he was walking forward until the end.
Izzy hurt himself with the leg kicks more than he hurt Sean.

It’s about that time! can’t stress enough how much these videos help hype up certain events for me. it’s always awesome listening to the goat himself break down each fighters style and how he thinks they’ll match up against each other.
I think Sean got a lot better after Alex rocked him. He learned a lot from that fight and plus Alex taught him a few things. I really hope Sean wins. But it will be hard for him. The Cannonier fight Sean fought scared after being knocked out by Alex. It was basically 6 months later
Then he fought Imavov pissed at LHW a month later
and then Abus he fought unsure for the first round until he realised the dude was tired

I think Sean out pointed Cannonier, and against Abus he wasn't scared or anything, he simply let him burn all his energy and do all his fancy moves for one round, knowing he won't keep that pace for more than 5/10 minutes. He played strategically, Sean even said that during the clinch in the first round felt Abus fade away. Strickland is a tricky pony, cardio, defense and walking you down are his strength. I see DDP knocking him out BUT I can also see Sean capitalising on his cardio after 3 rounds. To me is 60% Strickland / 40 % DDP

Everyone talks about DDP’s size and strength, but after watching Sean control Cannonier against fence in this fight - it made me realize that he is actually really big for a MW. I don’t know if that will play a huge factor like we all previously thought.

I thought Sean won that fight myself, I think he out pointed Jared..But it was razor close, none of the three judges agreed on any round of the fight, and it was a split decision..Just to add the proper context..And Jared has really been a late bloomer, really progressing over the last year and a half..Even Jared looked surprised when his name was called..
It's because the new rules state damage trumps all this means little pokes and jabs do not count as much as hooks and uppercut that knock your head back think about it if you see a fight right in front of you and one guy hits a guy 10 20 times but it doesn't phase the other guy then the other guy hits him with just 2 big shots that turn his head and he starts backing up and being gun shy who do you think won
@@Warpathjak that's not how it works its strike percentage based, the extra priorities are unknown though, judges all score differently and we still get 1 out of 3 judges giving rounds to the guy who got the shit beat out of him for 5 rounds

@@P.Subaeruginosa you miss understand. Nate could have won decision by taking damage but how much did he inflict as well? Effective striking and grappling are the most important scoring factor. That means quality over quantity. Sean can throw a million pillow fisted punches with very little to no damage and it wouldn't count. Damage is king. Sorry bro you're wrong.

I think the big thing with this fight is Strickland is coming off that KO loss to poatan. So I think Strickland was a lot more cautious and timid in this one. Constantly guessing and going backwards.
I think Champ Sean is better than this but he really needs to use his wrestling and grappling. But we all know he won’t.

Spot on and that's what he's added to his game which allows him to be the aggressor even vs guys with KO ability. It's a wrinkle that makes him very hard to beat. I think he gets the decision win or even TKO in the 5th

i think he got a fighting habit that hes good at and he goes with what he knows best afraid to take up unecessary movement and mix it up i hope he sees this and realizes his potential and even get to camp with you, i enjoy your break downs are quite cerebral and drew my attention to many new things especially the pushing forward thing and the octogan circle very smart one of the greats.
this is the worst possible fight to break down, this was sean's worst performance to date, he had just been knocked out by Perrera and looked like shit in this fight and was super passive, this is a poor representation of Sean Strickland.
