I know theater musical is thriving in S.Korea but I hardly know much S.Korean musical movies.. I wonder why they don't produce musical movies that much compared to other genres.

There's a big emphasis for in person viewership (there's a fear that movie versions will only decrease/take away revenue from in person acts), it's considered an art form and there's a bit of a distinction between broadway/musical performers and actors in korea (they have a higher status than regular actors and singers). There are only a handful of actually korean made musicals and they want people to see it in person rather than in video form.
