My gynecologist told me that due to my age I couldn't start getting anything in terms of screening right now. It was very upsetting

So amazing for her to share her story and show such vulnerability to help other women. I'm glad the risk assessment helped her and her medical providers find her cancer. Important to note for awareness that the Gail Model discussed in this video is not accurate for Latina/Hispanic women. Although we are a sizeable portion of the population, according to the website "Assessments for Hispanas/Latinas are subject to greater uncertainty than those for white and African American/black women. Researchers are conducting additional studies, including studies with minority populations, to gather more data and to increase the accuracy of the tool for women in these populations." It's unacceptable that in 2024, women of Latin American/Hispanic/Native American descent continue to be invisible in the healthcare sphere. As a Latina newly diagnosed and with immediate family members who also have had breast cancer, my "patient risk" at 5 years was 1.7%. So highly inaccurate, how does this make sense? We must do better!
