    I am owner of 4th gen V MT owner and looking for an automatic car, driven all the cars, found 5th gen city CVT the best, Slavia is good for high speeds due to turbo engine but at low speeds and traffic conditions in the city, CITY seems to be the best. There is pathetic turbo lag in Slavia 1.0 and is not bearable even in 1.5 in slow moving traffic. To top it slavia has ac issues reported by multiple owners, you have to be lucky not to have those issues with a slavia. I so want to like a slavia since I don’t want to again buy the same car but somehow nothing beats the city, not even the Elevate.

    I owned the 4th gen city, it had its negatives but its pros out perform its cons. thinking that I bought the city 5th gen, no doubt its vey good, but in 1 years time it has devolved a few rattles, the suspense is comfortable but makes noise, there is very minimal road noise but the suspension noise spoiler the Honda good acoustics, you won't notice it if you play light music. speaking about music the speakers are great its just quality its has enough thump and good enough bass with a woofer. never experienced any distortion and suits all kinds of music. the A/C is better in the 5th gen than the 4th. I even go the tires changed from 185 sections to 195 now it handles better now the bouncing has reduced. My sister bought the 1.5l turbo salvia the engine is punchy but no refinement, the cabin feels claustrophobic, fit and finish is not up to Skoda levels, the leather used is better in the city, seats are more comfortable aswell in the city. but all those said the driving makes up for it the powerful mids and lows, the suspension and high speed stability is impeccable....... for the price point. my civic drives better but lacks the engine. and said that for the 5 lakh difference in price I would rather push for the octavia mid variant

      My old car the Honda city 4th gen (pre facelift model) is very dear to me, it looks more sporty and from some angles I prefer the looks of my old car, the interior design is nice aswell. The engine in it is very silent when compared to the 5th gen which is already very silent the suspension is on the harder side but it doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable infact its more planted and Compliant on bouncy surfaces, the steering wheel feels more connected provides more feedback. I sometimes feel the backseat experience of the 4th gen is better. Breaks on both are very nice.

    • @anshulrao5581
      @anshulrao5581 Před 2 lety

      If I nitpick the road noise is a bit intrusive, the infotainment could have been much better, it has a few Unusual blindspots, speakers provided are a bit mah, the body shell is a bit weak the bumper clips especially, headlight throw very unsatisfactory but u can get it upgraded with leds which improves the visible by a lot still very less compared to the current gen zx led lights (Philips H4 ultinon pro led i What I had upgraded to). The interior lights are also not very nice. Strangely the service comes was also a bit more expensive. The light colour mats also is a problem. Expect that not any major gripes. And I suggest maybe u can upgrade the Tyres increase them 195 sectional tyres, the LEDs are a must and get 3m matting done.

    1. Buy Honda city Vx if your budget is around 15 lakhs max as it is more vfm at that price point.
    2. You could buy either Honda city or slavia 1.0 if your budget is around 16 lakhs or 10-20 thousand more.
    3. If your budget is more than that, say around 18-19 lakhs, go for slavia 1.5, it’s incomparable to any car (except the virtus of course) in this range.
    Ps: I myself have been in this dilemma for the last 4-5 months and after numerous of videos, articles and showroom visits, I have booked the slavia 1.5 MT.

I am sure, doing just this modification and marketing the product based on this, would save the life of sedans in India!

      The Slavia’s suspension, like the engine tune, is well suited for the city. It cushions you well from the surface, especially the everyday bumps like speed breakers and broken roads. Larger bumps can be felt, and the suspension tends to make a thud as well, but the suspension does take care of the harshness. On the highways, the Slavia remains very stable and mile-munching will be effortless. On the other hand, Honda has fixed the unnecessarily stiff ride quality that plagued the fourth-generation City. The suspension tune is unique for Indian roads, tailored to take on our potholes and bumps. Shock absorption has improved noticeably and the suspension is also quieter as it goes about tackling them. This softer suspension, thankfully, hasn’t resulted in a floaty feeling on the highway. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test drive for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Not a class apart anymore. Slavia is a more than worthy competitor. Sales number is not a great metric to judge these two cars at this point. Slavia is a new car. Most people at this point would go for City because its tried and tested. There are few who actually go for a new car until it has been in market over a year. Another thing people have in mind is high maintenance cost which for a skoda seems to be higher but it provides some good maintenance packages for 4 years which brings maintenance cost to 6k per year which is very reasonable. Overall still it is slightly more expensive than honda but it is not a huge difference.
      I love honda city and I have test driven and seen both cars in and out. 2 things honda city still has the edge is comfort and more premium cabin feel.
      Rest in terms of features, handling, better gc, ride quality slavia is a winner. Plus it has some smart features like foldable rear seat which is useful if you want to shift some stuff from one place to another.
      I mean it would still come down to preference but for me if you are looking for everything in a car then Slavia is better. If your main focus is better comfort then you can go for city
