Demi wrote âAnyoneâ four days before she suffered an overdose in 2018.
She told a reporter âI wish I could go back in time and help that version of myself,â.
This was her first time on stage since then.
This performance was the same day Kobe Bryant's helicopter crashed killing him, one of his daughters and 7 other people including another parent and child.
He was a very beloved member of the LA community so this also made it hard.
I'm not even a sports fan and I was shocked. I can't imagine what it was like to live in the community where he was so active.
Douglas Campbell Demi was a big fan of him too, Kobe and his daughters went to Demiâs 2017 tour and hung out with her backstage so she knew them personally
And the day after that jan 27 its my birthday and anyone on spotify then 28 lovatics day! đ
This definitely made me cry. I had never heard this before, but I feel her pain so much
I like the "anyone" part how it sounds like a shout an out nowhere shout I think is very apropiate given the lyrics and feeling of the song .
Her pianist was also amazing and respectful

Watching Beth's empathy for an artist baring their soul for their music is a unique thing. Just show's her complete adoration and appreciation for the craft of singing. Organically beautiful.

This was the first performance I seen of hers as well as heard of her. I fell in love instantly!! Watched this performance over and over plus many more. She is amazing and her voice is incredible. Team Demi.

First time I saw her perform this I got teared up. Impossible to not feel her pain.
Iâve never really been a fan of pop music or Demi as an artist... but gained a whole lot of respect and empathy for her based on this performance. This is the type of thing that resonates and lasts. Hopefully she can stay in a positive track in her life and continue to use music as a healthy outlet for herself and for others who listen to it.
Great knowing someone has to almost die to earn your respect.
I donât respect her for almost dying, stooge. I respect artists who have a life experience or vulnerable moment that is extremely personal and painful and then share it with the world. Baring their soul. It takes great strength and courage to share that. Certainly much more meaningful and impactful than most of the bubble gum clown show that fills pop charts.
And before you try to dismiss my opinion with passive aggressive sarcasm, addiction and self destruction courses through my family. Iâve been impacted by relatives trying to commit suicide. Iâve been impacted by family members overdosing. Iâve been through picking up the pieces. So yeah, it might resonate with me more than others that sheâs picking herself up. Not only helping herself, but reaching and helping others just by being brave enough to share her experience. Especially one that a lot of artists who go through similar things, hide from it, are too embarrassed by the events and just try to seeep it under the rug.

Beth tends to actually provide much more technical input about how the singers produce the vocals that they do. She seemed more focused on the emotion of this particular performance. Definitely check out more of her videos.
I was waiting with bated breath for your reaction, as you are one of the few vocal coaches that appreciates conveying emotions, just as much as the technical side of it and as usual you did not disappoint. đ

From what I've read, Demi wrote this only a few days before her overdose in 2018. She hadnt performed it for anyone prior to this night.

This moving performance was a literal cry for help. Which is why she was so emotional. She is begging for someone (anyone) to be there for her. She overdosed and almost died 4 days after this performance

I'm really glad to see her back to performing again. I didn't want to see her O.D. get the best of her and keep her from coming back. I wish the best for her and I hope she can stay off that stuff for good.
