I've got the 2000 Maxima. I inherited from daughters in-laws. It's a great car! Going on 24 years old with 240k miles.
How’s it doing with 240????
Most underrated Nissan imo. Best gen maxima imo
My dad had this gen or the one before but moral of the story lasted 285,000 miles becorr we sold it
@@mattmag8776 hell yeah. I had mines till 272k miles. The Rear main seal was starting to go bad I was a little bit younger and didn’t really have the knowledge or money to fix it
I need help. I’m looking at an 03 Nissan Maxima gle automatic with 180k miles. They said the motor is knocking and it will probably need a new motor. They had it listed for $950 and Talked them down to $750 since I will have to have it towed 40 miles. Should I buy it? I’m thinking of replacing the engine with a used engine that works. I can’t get a car loan because I don’t make enough. I’m a single mom with no child support going to college living with my father. I have fair credit. I make $400 a month doing postmates with a car I share with my sister. I need a car to get a job not doing postmates. Should I get the car?
@@melissawaggoner7509 you’re gonna be speeding more money into that car if it’s “knocking” especially if it’s the valve chain witch is a 1,500 Job IF you can’t do it yourself. I would just walk away from it. Try looking at something with no issues if you could. I know it’s hard out there
@@MrZaine97 well how am I supposed to get a car? Everyone is saying don’t get an old car because you’ll have to spend a lot, don’t get a car loan because you’ll spend a lot, and then if I get an ok car with no issues then I’ll have to spend a lot up front lol. It’s like any which way I’m just going to spend a lot of money so what does it matter?
I had a white 2003 Maxima SE and I truly miss that car. It was unfortunately totaled back in 2011. That car gave me no mechanical issues. That generation was the last 'Maxima-looking Maxima'.
I own a 2002 with a 6 speed. 215k and still going strong!
Sams here
What problems have it give you?
@@ucitiplayitbuie6810 have you ever went against the 2012-2013 maxima with it
Have an 01 maxima with 310k miles. I had to rebuild the transmission but the engine is still going strong. Very well built piece of machinery
Tamar Buie my dad has a 03 stock everything 360k miles still runs great
Wish my 02 looked as good as the one in the video! Such an underrated car. In 2002, NOTHING in its class could touch it as far as performance, features, etc. It still has surprising performance to those who don’t know. 😎😎😎 255 HP will still put you back in the seat at full throttle... the design was great, comfortable for all day cruising, and it’s a reliable car. I’ve had mine since 04, and aside from one major problem, it’s been all just maintenance and small repairs.
The Bose audio system was great but after a few years, a common problem plagued mine, the left side channel cut out intermittently while playing CDs. The only remedy was to replace it... I just lived with it, I didn’t use the CD player much anyway. Great car, and glad to see someone reviewing it in 2019! Thank you!
Man you better keep your 2002 maxima long as possible its eventually going to become extinct like the 1990-1994 model maximas i actually think the 2002-2003 maxima was the last original pure bred maxima built and the sportiest. The newer maximas look nice on the outside don't have that aggressive throttle response like the 02-03 the 09-14 maxima with cvt feels laggy when you punch I'll take a 02 instead anyday
Good afternoon, my heat stop Working.
@@jennyjackson5604 mine too

@@melissawaggoner7509 I’m Late to the party. Hope you got it
I picked up a 2003 GLE about a year and a half ago, awesome car! It can be fast if you want it to be but fairly luxurious the rest of the time. Perfect!
Just bought 2000 Maxima sport. Absolutely mint condition. Best car I've ever owned.
This is the car I want for my first car!!!
The 2001 is my first car
I’m getting the 03 Infinity i35 for Christmas which is the luxury version of the maxima and I can’t wait
I just got the 20th anniversary Maxima (2001) for only $325
@@theslumppgodd406 daang that’s a steal, any problems? What’s the mileage?
@@vondrebridges9740 it’s just a few thousand short of 300,000 miles. It caught on fire before I bought it from him (I knew this before making my decision) and only charged me for the replacement piece he bought (which I still got it $25 cheaper than his first offer) and it’s been in a wreck. The drivers side door doesn’t close to the point the battery won’t die (I fixed that already) and if you open the back drivers side door it’ll mess up how the drivers door “trigger” as I call it reacts and thinks it’s constantly in because the button doesn’t reach to cut it off. Then basic things like oil and fluid changes are needed at the point it’s at and I’m just gonna make it a cool little project car
2000 maxima, manual trans with 222,270 miles and runs great.
I have a 2001 SE 20th anniversary edition. It's so beautiful and fun to drive. It very nimble for being 19 years old
Got a fully loaded 2002 GLE in this same exact color, has every option, even heated steering wheel! Love it, great car.
Owned a 2001 SE 20th Anniversary Ed. auto. Was at 217k miles before it got totaled. Miss that car but loving my WRX now.
Still better looking than any sedan out today
I had a 2002 GLE and I loved that car. I've had all kinds of performance, high end cars, but that maxima was really solid and just something about it was very enjoyable.
What octane did you use?
@@Mysticalsword5 oh that was like 15 years ago, I can't remember
I use to have a 96 GLE and my wife had a 02 SE. Great cars! We were looking for a third car to use as a spare that we could just pay cash for so I started looking for a clean 95-03. Took a few months to find a nice but finally found a super clean 2000 GXE, one owner, 110k miles for $3,600. I’m pretty happy with it and hope to keep it for a good while.
We had a 01 SE Anniversary Edition, an 2002 SE 6MT and a 2003 SE Titanium Edition 4AT. I loved these Maximas :D
Just redid my rear fenders (03 Maxima owners know the deal). Spent 3 days sanding, shaping, and painting. The car is classic and deserves rejuvenating attention. Nissan fumbled the ball with fenders and runners. But the car is a beast and i beat Subarus, Accords and lower level BMW's all the time. The car still commands respect and looks on the open roads
LOVE my 2003 Black on Black Leather SE. Very low miles. Pampered since new. Sleeping in garage now. Car is immaculate. All fluids immaculate. Last Maxima made in Japan.
Would not buy a Maxima past 2003
This was the first car I ever had. Loved every inch of that car.
I own a 2002 with 157k 🤩 & got it for 1000$
I paid $1500, for a nissan maxima gle 02, 237000 miles, and it runs like its new.
any problems yet? thinking of buying one with 215k miles
@@juusbox actually yes, bad catalytic converter, gas tank leakage, if the car runs to low on gas, and you try to start it, More than once the engine fries, it didn't really do that well on gas, but it you are going to by one, I recommend really checking the car completely, and going to a mechanic with the seller. Because if there are any serious problems, it's not worth buying, if their are no problems the only thing you have to worry about is consistently putting gas in the tank, if you drive more than 50 miles a day.
Also just recently got a nissan juke 2012, with 64,000 miles, and have absolutely no complaints, so if you can afford it with your budget, might be a more worthwhile option, the gas is great, it has awd and front wheel drive, you have sport mode. Normal mode and eco mode, and it drives like a true sport car, but also works great for the average driver, who is looking for a car that can last, and keep you from looking elsewhere from something else.
@@Visionaryakafonzfoederl how can you tell the catalytic converter is bad?

Excellent review my friend. Congratulations.
My dad had a 2000 Maxima GLE that he bought brand new until 2010. It got totald when he loaned it to his friend. It was silver first until he painted it white in 2008. It looked better in white.
I have a Maxima QX A33 3.0 V6. Registered in Aug. 2004 in Finland. Has about 190tmls on the clock, runs like new. edit on Aug 2nd, 2022: Now at ~217tmls. Still runs flawlessly.
Thanks for the update!!
I m thinking of buying one such car, your video helps a lot. Thanks
From 2000-2007, My dad had a 2000 Maxima SE, it had a similar color, it had the same wheels and a light grey cloth interior, same color as this one but cloth, it had fog lights, sunroof, Bose stereo, pretty much had the same options too. The taillights had black housings, some has clear and some has red.
You can't find them this clean and this cheap anymore!
I just got one in so cal like new 56k miles
I have a 2003 Maxima GLE. I took out the Bose AM / FM 6 Disc Changer and put an Alpine Single Disc USB Head unit. Also took the stock rims and tires off and put some Black Mesh 18x8 Rims on it. Those rims totally changed the look of the car.
My uncle had one and he let me drive it it was very stable and quick to drive👍
I left several surprised at the traffic lights🤭
These are reliable cars too. The only issue my 2001 maxima has is the frame rust that comes from spending over 20 years in the north.
I'm on my 4th maxima. I had 2 of these gen 5's, a new 2004 and now I own a 1997. The gen 4's are best, by far.
Looks better than today's cars. Sexy and with a touch of gangsta
Love this better than anything this style today.
This gen was one of my favorite maxima models ever
I love my 2003 Maxima. Great daily driver
I love the 2000 to 2003 Nissan Maxima powerful cars. I owned a 2006 Nissan Maxima I loved it 😍 ❤
Had one of these and it was a great car.
I got a 03 SE with 100k miles runs like a champ
My very first Nissan product was a 03 Nissan Maxima sport SE black with gray leather h.i.d headlights Bose premium sound system I loved that car ever since then I been a die hard Nissan & Infiniti fan I would buy another 2002-03 gen Maxima in a heartbeat I has to be a sport model tho because I Hate base models
That's my car! Bought it used in 2018, been driving it ever since. Its like an extension of my body at this point. only 134,000 miles! Dark blue.
Big changes from 4th gen. Looks, interior, a bump in horsepower and a giant leap in the 5.5 with the 3.5 and a 6 speed. With bolt ons, total sleeper
Wat kind of bolt ONS? 🤔
@@mexican730 stock, they’ve hit 14.0. Vids and time slips are online.
Bests bolt ons are probably headers and a plenum spacer. Can also do Intake, cat back, 75mm TB, a simple homemade STS mod and more. And they can be tuned to put down 250-280+ to the wheels. Stock is 215-225ish with the 6 speed.
@@t20sgrunt36 not bad for a 20 year old car lol what's an STS mod?
@@mexican730 short throw shifter. You can drill a small hole on the link from the cable and place a small cotter pin link that will leave you a shorter shift throw. The maxima forums have everything in detail
If only I had a 6 speed thou 😅
GOOD REVIEW & GREAT CAR.
I love my 2001 Nissan Maxima se it’s so fun to drive
If only this had an AUX cord slot 😩
I got an 02 black on black with the oem NAV with 138,000 miles.
Love my 2000 SE. 120 on the clock. 5 speed. 5th gen ftw
Awesome, I bought one with 111,000 on it for $1,500. It’s reliable and has great power for a 21 year old car. Also the exterior is immaculate other than a little hit on the rear bumper.
I had the 2002 GLE. Powerful 255 hp. The front struts/shocked crapped out at 60k. Sold it with 102k miles.
Because they are garbage
Haven't liked the look of the maxima after this model. This is a nice-looking car.
Do they have a hard time running if the exhaust is cut off all the way up to the manifold
I just scored a nissan maxima 2003 with 56k miles its like new on in and out😊 I owned a 95 gle lasted for over 300 k and was running strong until it crashed
can someone please tell me where to find an replacement navigation system & the correct navigation CD
I have a used 2002 Maxima i & most of the buttons were broken off & there is no CD in the navigation system so I can’t control my AC plz help !
Good thorough review. I was wondering what the three buttons on the sunvisor were for. remote for garage door.
Garage door opener to progam
I miss my 03 gle, i took its power for granted
I just got an 03 gle recently and I absolutely love the thing
I wish my dad didn't scrap his 3 years ago
I have an 03 maxima and it’s okay it always has sensor issues and stuff like that but I’m trying to figure out how many miles you get by just putting in five bucks
Awesome car.... couldn't afford one then , been tryn to find a clean low mile se for yrs......
In Memphis dope boys use to have these lol I still want one baddd
I had a 5th gen 2000 Maxima se as my 1st car!!!
Wow i cant believe my parents sold this car, now it's one of my favourite
Bought a black 2002 Nissan Maxima last week with 175K miles. Some of the black paint on the car has faded but runs phenomenal. The last two owners were responsible with their maintenance, I will be doing the same.
What octane do you use?
@@Mysticalsword5 From what I was told by the previous owner and from what I've read the car should be filled up with SUPER. So I use SUPER. It sucks cause gas prices are high, but what can you do.
How’s it treating you now? Would u say it’s reliable?
The best Nissan Ever thanks El Immigrante!
Nissan & Toyota industrial in USA market have more options and more luxury than any market in the world.
Underrated
Looks nice for 3 grand.
One with 147k still speeding with the Zs! Ong
I own one of these (6-Speed). It is a very quick car! I've got my runs under 6 secs on mine.
Do you think the 6 speed maxima from 2003 is faster than the 2012 maxima?
@@cedricmiller4370 I dont think so. The 2012 model is 290 horse power. The older models are around 240 if I'm not mistaken. But still very quick.
Boats N Hoes but new ones are also a lot heavier
@@cedricmiller4370 Probably it has like 260 horsepower
@@bloo22ca dude yes car and driver tested a 2002 like this it has 0-60 of 6 seconds and a top speed of 156mph light body beast of a motor and drive train.

Hey there what's the price for this nice 03 Nissan maxima?
Great car
I bought a 2000 Nissan Maxima with a 6 cylinder, 105k Miles, for $1,900
I wonder what is the asking price of the beautiful 03 Nissan maxima?
My maxima is a gle and it has the wing too
If anyone reading this owns it has owned a 2002 maxima se, lmk what you think of it? Thinking about buying one with 116k miles
That’s a good car man I wish my had that number of miles...just check it out and ask if anything is wrong if you don’t see or feel anything wrong buy it...it’s an awesome car.
Just paid 600 for one with 131k miles leather interior he said reverse was out I drove it and wala reverse works now 🤣😅such a steal
Is this car still for sale ??
These maximas are definitely a workhorse
I still have my 02 maxima gle..its a tank !!
Same here, same model and year 02 maxima gle
I got an '03 with 192k miles... this thing will not die. Sunroof just stopped working, though.
Got the 03 it kicks
Mines at 164k miles. My heat stopped working.
Check relay and fuse under hood. Should be a easy fix
Hey, 2000-2001 was the 3.0L V6 while the 2002-2003 is the 3.5L V6 2000-2003 is not the same.
This is nice.
It did decent burnouts also
My 03 maxima was the biggest money pit ever
Where can I buy this car
Does it worth to buy a 2000 máxima for $ 2000 usd, now in 2021?
I recently bought a 2000 GLE w 80,000 original miles in Naples, engine died in Fort Myers, swapped it out with a rebuilt engine, was too nice to junk, I just like these 5th gen maximas ❤️

It depends on the overall condition of the vehicle and if there’s rust on it or not but a used engine should run you around $1500-$2000 so overall it’ll be around $3000 or more to buy and fix the vehicle which is worth it for me because this car rocks!
Debating about getting rid of my Toyota Camry for this should I? I have 1999 188k miles no engine light. Drives good just want something faster but Toyota so reliable.
Nissan probably won't have the same level of reliability but it is definitely a lot more fun to drive than a Camry.
i’m planning on getting this exact generation maxima soon, does anyone know if it’s reliable or somethings i should look out for?
I have a 2003 SE titanium edition
Just bought one for $600; got a few repairs, nothing too major.
Nice find. Less than a bike!
Favorite car still own it at 150k
@Mr602 yea
@Mr602 yup
I have a 2000 se an they will run
White 2002 Maxima SE was my first car. That thing can haul!!! Way too much power for a 16 yo lol
I'm sure you were ok with that at the time :-)
Just got a 2000 is it rear wheel drive?
No
Im looking to buy onr of this
Dude that 3.5 is Knocking, The Side Marker Missing on Front Bumper & The Right Side Mirror Cover Is Missing! Yet You’re Charging The KBB Pristine Condition Value Price?
That knock is pretty pronounced
I think the "knock" is actually some kind of construction noise nearby!
This was the first Maxima made after the Renault merger 😢
Only wish mine was a manual
Just got a 2001 20th anniversary edition today. $1200 but it's uh... Cosmetically challenged and has some small problems but I'm excited to see how she is. Should be a fun beater for a few months thats for sure.
How’d it go
@@kes933 car was great. Had to replace the battery and alternator and that was pretty much it, but it was on its last legs when i was about to put a good amount of money into it like breaks and suspension. Ended up breaking a control arm and then sliding into a curb so that was the end of it. But i used it for delivery and put about 15k miles on it and it was a great car. Just check for rust, that's the biggest problem with them. You'll look under the front bumper and most likely see the bottom engine mount completely rusted and broken apart from the sub frame.
Dual exhaust? 🤔
lol I said same thing... its dual muffler
2001 Smoked tail lights!
He should have done a little more research. It's a 5.5 Gen. Saying that it has "dual exhaust" is laughable. It's a single pipe with 2 coming from the muffler.
He's a sales guys so you should definitely take everything he says with a grain of salt
And here I was looking at a 6th gen
Autos were bad on those.. 5th gen all the way
