  • On its tenth mission of the year, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket with a Northrop Grumman Cygnus spacecraft onboard. This was the first time Cygnus launched on a Falcon 9 out of a planned three missions.
    This mission also marked the first time SpaceX achieved 100 successful orbital launches within 365 days. The company hopes to reach 144-150 launches within the calendar year of 2024.

    The shots/videos taken from this launch by all parties (especially NASA) are easily the best ever taken! Looking forward to the raw, uncut footage for sure!!

    Neat! That’s one of the best views of the Falcon 9 landings I’ve ever seen. Also, it was an interesting mission since SpaceX had to add a hatch in one of the fairings so the Cygnus support crews could add time-critical payloads at the last minute.

    It takes such a long time for the sonic boom to reach those of us watching on the beach at Cape Canaveral national seashore. Some of us doubted it existed. It arrived long after the doubters began walking to their cars.

    I'm not a smart man but every time you guys post it seems like 23 satellites . Every time and I think I've seen well over 15 launches since Christmas. My question is how big are these satellites and what is the duration of life. I know there's probably well over 250 satellites up there

    • @Curtlf
      @Curtlf Před 4 měsíci +2

      YES..over 5200. not a typo ...again over 5200 active as of this posting.

      1. The satellite 📡 sizes vary. Car 🚗 to truck 🛻….
      2. Life spans are several decades hopefully 🤞….

      As for their lifespan - they’ve been introducing new types of satellites in batches as technology advances (along with capabilities and other means to improve performance). As a result longevity is quite varied, though I think as of now they’re expecting something like 3-5 years out of the current v2 mini’s and 5+ out of v2 full’s once they start launching them from starship (they’re far too big for the falcon9). They’re also planning on 42,000 individual satellites to complete their constellation…
