Life was so much simpler then. I hade a blessed childhood.
Lucky you , eh.
Yes lucky me!! It is so sad how this country has changed in the past 72 years of my life.
@@Top2tow yes, I know, I'm 58 and it's changed drastically
Yes, us “Boomers” were so fortunate. Happy days!
Reminds me of the British entertainment, that you see, on English, WWII movies! I wonder what those
older, 1950's Brits. would think of the U.K. today? I don't think that they would recognize it, anymore!
I went with my daughter and granddaughter to watch Sooty live a couple of years ago. Richard Cadell who works for Sooty, pointed out that most parents were really there for themselves. We all agreed. Including my daughter and myself 😄
He still says " bye bye everybody, bye bye "
This brought a tear to this granddad's eye😊
Absolutely brilliant ... thank you very much indeed.
I adored Mr. Pastry when I was a very young kid, the funny thing is, I had no idea ai all what he was doing ! I just thought he was hysterical !
Brings back memories of my school days, happy care free times ...gone. forever !
different planet now
Loved Annette Mills singing I love muffin the mule 🙏😲😊😊😊😊
You lucky people..if only we had known what was to come 😢
Wish I could go back!
Ahh the memories. They do the yes no interlude on Kids Radio now.
Thanks for posting.
Fond memories.I was there.
We did not have a T.V in house, until 1959, when I started work and shared the cost of renting one with my sister.
Well done! I really enjoyed watching those clips. The acting was so good back in those days. As a young boy in the 1950's, I certainly remember those shows.
A real gem, thank you 😊
That was the Duke of Bedford advertising Flash. He and the Duchess did quite a few adverts.
I was hoping they had the flower pot men in watch with Mother. I was born in 1952 and these clips sent me rushing back in time.
It's a pity about the Flower Pot Men. They caused a scandal after they began to make obscene gestures to the camera and even sexually assaulted Little Weed. Had to be taken off the air as a consequence.
Slobalob.
@@bigmeltie1 😊
Always got caught out on Michael Miles show😲😊🥰
Blimey! I've owned around 2 twin tub washing machines in my 20s and as a child my mother's twin tub was the envy of the street as it had an agitator for washing and a spinner in the same unit. If you owned an electric spinner unit on its own you were well off. Mom used to wash by hand and use the spinner. I recall it took mom all weekend to do the family laundry.
We had a second hand Rolls Rapide Twin Tub washing machine given to us in the 60's. It was the best we've ever had & no automatic can match it for whiteness! :)

I read that a vast majority of the British TV archives that were mastered on video in the 60's were re-recorded over in the 70's because videotape was expensive.
Yes a lot of classics were destroyed.
I wish I could see more I was never allowed to watch Telly back then
Thank you!
Great. Thank you for posting this.
Several of the clips and most of the adverts were from the 1960s- the Mother's Pride and Flake adverts for example.
Yes, those Flake TV ads wouldn't have been made before 1963 or so.
It was 50s/60s in the title?
Great stuff! Funnily enough I got over here by typing 'Garry Halliday'
Glad you arrived, but strange.
@@KeithOwen Ah well...I am always on the look out for anything from the single surviving episode of that you see
Me too!
The pilot?…I remember that too.
Me too, and that is a memory lane I'd like to walk down. I remember a creepy character called The Voice and I want to find out why he so terrified me.
Thank you. 🇬🇧😎👍
Thanks, until I realised it was your name, could not understand your comment. 🤔😄
Good Morning from New Zealand, thanks for your Great Trailer Video Thanks for sharing , Have a great week
Thank you, how many of these were shown in nz
was that Dusty Springfield doin the mothers pride bread ad ?
Yes, well spotted.
That was the lass indeed. Far too high a quality of performance for the purpose. But what else would you expect from a star of that time.😊
thank you
Some time between 1957 and 1964 BBC television gave a play, if i remember correctly once a week. I cannot remember what the programme was called. I remember seeing a play by a Spanish playwright whose name escapes me. At the start of the play the stage looks like a luxury hotel where everyone except one person seems happy. As the play proceeds one thing after another disappears for them. At the end of the play it becomes obvious they were living in illusion for there are guards and the place looks like a prison. It must have been about Spain under Franco.Perhaps someone knows the one I am looking for. I have been unable to find it on the internet for it is impossible nowadays to make exact searches to search what you yourself want to find or eliminate completely irrelevant pages foisted on the searcher, or the books offered to buy.
Stumped me, and I have no idea what it could be.
Play for today
@@gordoniredale2234 think you could be right, there was also a regular programme called Alfred Hitchcock presents.
@@KeithOwen I have a question
Do you know about this a sad story of henry 🔎
It's Tessie O'Shea not Shey
Your episode of ''Picture Book'' is not 1950s. It was probably 1963 (as shown on the videotape). Shame the end of the Woodentops was cut off. Spoil a mood! And it was not on BBC 1 - there was no BBC 2 until 1964, as you surely know. I guess they replayed it at some point later, but must they always mash everything up with new titles, etc.?
Title does say 1950s /60s I do have complete episodes of woodetops available, along with other watch with mother shows.
Gracie Feilds?
It actually says Feild
Telly was better then (They all say that)
.. but it's True, it Was
@@michellefalleur960 Yes - It was 😮💨
You need to check spelling on some names.
Tessie O’Shea, for example, and Gracie Fields!
It’s quite difficult getting much telly clips from earlier than the 60s, as most shows either went out live and were never recorded or the tapes were wiped!
Spelling
Believe me there was loads of shite on tv then as it is today, Dixon of dock green being an exception.
True and 2 channels, today choice is unbelievable.
1:23 Sooty stop abusing yourself
i wish to see Pamela Guard=Yana, the singer who was very good. her voice is unrepeatable.
