- I sat down with Noel Fisher of Showtime's 'Shameless' to talk season five. Will Mickey be able to really take care of Ian, who is fighting his diagnosis and unwilling to see a doctor? Will Mickey be a good dad? And what does it mean to Noel to play such a character, who has had such tremendous growth?

He's so smart and so humble... I am bipolar and this show. Wow. Just has the best portrayal of the disease I have ever seen. Spot on. Cameron did an amazing job playing bipolar, and Noel did an amazing job as Mickey. Being the person on the other side dealing with it, with such limited understanding of it. It was beautifully done. I love them both for that.

He's lovely in the interviews that I've seen. And I was touched when I saw some emotion at "this is a little tacky...but when you open yourself up to love..." that was a real sensitive moment right there. I liked that.

Definitely! Noel is hot hot hot! His girlfriend/fiancee is beautiful. There are always rumors that he is gay. I don't really care when it comes to his acting. Now, in his personal life, if he is gay...I am single in DC, worked on Capitol Hill, worked in a top lobbying firm specializing in derivatives, was a Presidential appointee (George H. W. Bush...not his idiot son...but I'm a Democrat), two Members of Congress (aka..."Representatives), and have worked on several Presidential campaigns. I also know how to bake cookies. : - )~ That's about all I can bake. Again, Noel is hot hot hot!

I just came across Shameless recently. Noel Fisher and "Ian" are amazing! here in this interview Noel comes across as very smart dedicated and professional, he has a baby-face so it is difficult to judge just how smart he really is

I started watching shameless a few weeks ago and i fell in love with mickey milkovich. He‘s such an sarcastic badass what i rlly love but when he takes care of ian and shows him all the love he has i could cry every dang time. Noel Fisher is an amazing actor who brings mickey milkovich to life, every side of him; funny, criminal, sarcastic, sad and totally in love with ian.

Loved this interview, Noel Fisher is one of my favorite actors, and I truly love seeing him on Shameless playing Mickey Milkovich. The interview was great, I think alot of the questions being asked were ones I don't hear too often, and the questions you asked, you pretty much nailed it!
So far Mickey is my new favorite character. Every other character on the show just seems to be in an endless cycle. At least Noel's character is changing and growing.

I am gay and have bipolar. These characters have always been my holy grail. I am and have been both of them. I am both of these characters in one way or another. These particular episodes and seasons were hard to watch especially from an outsiders pov, but I think it was so important and am so grateful that they showed the brutal reality without sugar coating any of it. Ppl need to see the truth and reality, no matter how ugly. But it also sheds some light on both issues. Mickey and Ian are my life.

I love this show and being a bi-polar suffer I am glad that a show is going to show this disease in a more real setting I hope.
It's so interesting watching this interview now, after everything that happened in the show and the way Noel was written off in 6x01. Clearly, there was some kind of tension going on behind the scenes considering how Noel didn't have any ongoing projects throughout the filming of S6 despite what John Wells publicly said.... I'm just very curious about what happened. Noel seemed to have so much hope and positivity for this character and yet...
+Teddie James You're really jumping to conclusions based purely on guess-work. Shameless S6 started shooting August 2015, while TMNT2 had only concluded _principal_ photography in the same month. That's not even to account table reads, ADR, reshoots, and whatever else that comes with the territory of being a part of a TV show and/or movie. All that said, if Fisher was going to have a bigger part in S6 at all, he would have to had signed the contract *long before* August 2015, because the writers already started working on the script April 2015. And since he was already committed to TMNT2, given that he was part of the first film, it's clear why he "wasn't prepared to sign on for another year" on Shameless. Even if Fisher immediately wanted to sign on for more Shameless after TMNT2's principal production concluded on August 2015, it would have already been too late to write him into the season with a bigger role, because Shameless would have already begun filming by then. Besides, I actually agree with John Wells. Ian deserves the chance to explore other relationships while he tries to finally accept his bipolar disorder. So far into S6, he clearly isn't completely at peace with his disorder yet, and having Mickey around would have turned this season into essentially just a repeat of what we already saw in season 5.
***** "Okay so why isn't he coming back at all? Noel is gone for good." Again, the show is not over yet, so Fisher can't really be "gone for good" from the show _just yet_. I don't get what's so hard to understand about that. Time will tell if he's coming back or not. He could come back in season 7, or season 8, who the hell knows! Unless the show is finally over, no one can really say Fisher is "gone for good," not even Wells or Fisher themselves, because that's a decision for the future.
On a side note, considering the trajectory of the current season's writing, if I were Noel Fisher, I WOULDN'T want to be back on the show. The writers have ruined almost every character in the series this season, and it's barely watchable anymore. It's the 6th season and I'm sorry if I expected growth from these characters (especially Fiona), but apparently that's not happening because everyone's defense seems to always be "the show is called shameless."
