And not just any old crabs-... WAMPIRE crabs!!!
So when you see them wiping their eyes and what appears to be eating, they are wetting their eyes. Crabs hold water in their mouth area (don't know the term for it) that they use to wet their joints and eyes on occasion when on land. Also the Crabs you have with big bright purple claws are males and the ones with smaller more reddish claws are females.
I feel like he should know that before getting them..

You need to read this . the small one needs to to stay together cause the bigs ones like to eat the small one cause I have vampire crabs and ghost crabs and hermit crabs but all vampire and ghost crabs a cannibalism. But everything else is right but the water climate needs to be 70 to 80 degrees
and PH level 7.5 to 8.0. But other than tht ur doing a good job. But if u see this dont change them yet jus see how they act and when water comes out there mouth therr SCARED or ANGRY

They look so gorgeous! As a tip from an Aquarian: get some razorblade ti scraoe the front glas in order to have good sight on them and in regards to the very fluffy sand, get a sucking pump to clean everything up. Since you offer them food, they are going to poop in the water and Plant parts keep falling down as well as the wood is slowly decomposing, so you definitely want to clean the ground up. Keeps the water nice and clear and u can enjoy the pretty little fellows even more!

I've seen these at pet stores. They're really cute. I've thought about getting them, but need to learn way more about them before buying.
Vampire crabs after a long and exhausting, most likely confusing trip from the seller to this guy and after being dumped into their new home first thing they do: “Start munching on everything”
Imagine you being transported in a cardboard box with no light inside a plastic cup and being dumped into water, your first thought being like: “Yeah, let’s just put everything in sight in our mouth...” no need to accommodate or etc xD
The second one you opened looks female, and yes they constantly graze as they walk. I was lucky enough to have mine breed in captivity. They are actually decent hunters and will track down pinheads, springtails, wood lice
Now you made me want to get these beautiful things! Before i started watching your channel I never owned any Tarantulas, after watching in the shadows for a while i now have about 10 of them now! Just got a Giant Crab Huntsman Spider yesterday! Love your channel, keep up the good work you goof!

Aw, how sweet. I have been waiting for them. They are pretty cool and cute. And I love the enclosure. Might be difficult to spot the small crabbies in there, but of course it is good for them to have a lot of space. Hope they will be doing fine in there; keep us updated. A feeding clip would be great.

I built a 55 gallon paludarium for vampire crabs it’s got about 6 months of growth. I think they’re ready for crabs!
14:06 sometimes they do fight a little when one crab goes into the 'cave' of another and in the beginning when everyone picks a hiding place (atleast mine do/did)
Moving in the crabs made that enclosure pop. It is absolutely beautiful. It has lush greenery, which make the colors of the crabs stand out even nore. I would love to live in there if it was human size, that is.

Good luck with the Geosesarma genus. I have recently acquired 5 crabs myself and it's been a blast. Water wise, ph 7.0 to 8, hard water for moulting and a bit of water movement because they live by the river. Cheers!

I'm in love with the crab that has what looks like a smile on it's back! The really purple/yellow one. With its eyes and the smile on it's back, it looks so cute and happy, then look from the front it looks angry! Hahaha I love it 😍

First of all very entertaining video.
Secondly I kept this crabs for the past 4 years and I have to say I really like the setup u have for them. Lots of space and hiding places outside and in the water. The hiding places in the water are really important cause this species of vampire crab molds only in water. You also got relatively lucky on that purchase cause I could identify at least 3 females (probably 4) which is really good considering that it is recommended not to keep more males than females in an enclosure. And like you already suggested the prettier crab is a male while the other was a female. As far as feeding goes like mentioned in the vid they eat everything but personally I had a lot of success feeding them Drosophila hydei and/or small crickets once or twice a month. It is so fun to watch them hunt.

Vampire crabs need more land than that for their part,it’s supposed to be 80% land,20% water because they spend most of their time on land and 50% of their time in water,just a recommendation😊

ive never had vampire crabs, but ive got a fair bit of experience with marine crabs including emerald crabs, pom pom crabs, anemone/porcelain crabs and hermit crabs, and my experience is they are all very hardy, but mischievous scavengers, and always go where you dont want them to, including in my case i had one climb up the silicone in the corner of the tank and out! but also they are incredibly fun to watch, mine also steal food from everything else and squabble amongst themselves for food!
the biggest issue ive had with them is with moults, i have only ever lost crabs due to fighting or through moults, they need calcium, magnesium and hardness along with trace elements to moult properly, i would assume this carries over to vampire crabs? this will get absorbed out of the water over time so water changes will be helpful for them as it will replenish this, someone who has vampire crabs will correct me if im wrong about this however :)
These look to be different types of vampire crabs. The ones with the dark purple and yellow back spot look to be purple vampire crabs and the other ones with the reddish claws look to be Orchid vampire crabs. These crabs are very territorial and will be aggressive to other species.
So beautiful. We have lots of 'fiddlers' crabs, and are so very fascinating.

Great video! Hopefully they breed for you. The red & orange colored sub species vamp crabs are cool as well BUT it's best to keep the subspecies separate cause the males will fight. I've seen some albino vampire crabs that look amazing! They need water but actually spend 90% of their time on land. They usually only go in the water to molt or rarely forage for food there. Good luck with them.

@The Dark Den If you thought Vampire Crabs are stunning, Check out these Fellas: Cardisoma armatum. In german they are called Harlekin Krabbe, which translates to Harlequin Crab. But I couldn't find any under that name in english. So if u look up the latin name, u will certainly find pictures of them. ;-)
