- For nearly half a century, Russian emigrant Emma Goldman was the most controversial woman in America, taunting the mainstream with her fervent attacks on government, big business, and war. To the tabloids, she was "Red Emma, queen of the anarchists," but many admired Goldman for her defense of labor rights, women's emancipation, birth control, and free speech.

During her life, Goldman was lionized as a freethinking "rebel woman" by admirers, and denounced by detractors as an advocate of politically motivated murder and violent revolution.
Her writing and lectures spanned a wide variety of issues, including prisons, atheism, freedom of speech, militarism, capitalism, marriage, free love, and homosexuality.
Although she distanced herself from first-wave feminism and its efforts toward women's suffrage, she developed new ways of incorporating gender politics into anarchism.
After decades of obscurity, Goldman gained iconic status in the 1970s by a revival of interest in her life, when feminist and anarchist scholars rekindled popular interest.
Whilst Goldman was born into and spent her early life in "Imperial Russia", she was Lithuanian and culturally Jewish, not solely Russian.
It is a shame that this video wasted so much time on her relationships, that it only scratched the surface of her ideas. It's her ideas and courage to speak them that made her extraordinary. Especially nowadays, with so much State abuses of power and overreach like the Police State, the Surveillance State, and the Medical Martial Law State, Americans need people like Emma Goldman more than ever.
Meh, America has always made the mistake of allowing " Goldman's" to spread toxic Marxism. Just a glorified hater.

One of my favorites of all the fabulous American Experience movies. I loved learning about a passionate woman who was willing to risk so much for causes she found important.
AH did the same thing for Germany and who will deny he had passion too. Do you admire HIM too?. EG was a commy and her passion could only come into being with the misery of many millions

Anarchism is, by definition, a rejection of all hierarchies and dictators. "Anarchy" is often used as a synonym for chaos. "Anarchism" is the political philosophy that is sceptical of authority and rejects all unjustified hierarchies, including but not limited to capitalism, the military and the state. Anarchists in any nation fight against war, against racism and other forms of bigotry, against police brutality and against political repression.
Here, reading a Wikipedia page isn't that hard, is it? Being intelectually lazy doesn't make you more free, it just makes you more easily fooled, as can be seen from your comment.
@@mynamejeff3545 The anarchists in American lib cities 2020 that have been organized and paid for by the Dem leadership/elite and George Soros and other leftist billion and millionaires are not inspired usually by a sense of justice, but a desire to lash out, have power over others and get paid and supplied by Marxist/Fascists. Things have gotten much worse since Emma Goldman and her family left persecution in Europe/Russia and then turn around and embrace Marxism in the country which saved them and allowed them to prosper, just as the Rabbi said in the video. It's diabolical to me. I read Wikipedia, and either agree or make my own conclusion based on wisdom and knowledge like we all need to do.

Eastern European jews were very attached to communism and socialism. Irish, Italian and other newer immigrants had their socialists but not is such high numbers. It would be interesting to dive into why.
