    There are literally thousands of guitars out there in any plethora of colors and styles. Walk into a guitar store and see this one and it’s gonna get attention! I always look at a guitar and just know if I want to play it or not, feel that connection to it. If it feels right and looks right, not only will you connect with it, you will play it well and move in another creative direction for it. This guitar does just that, I want to play it!!! It’s inspiring!!!

    Just catching this vid now. Really cool. Man - that axe looks niiiice! You did a heck of a job with this guitar, and you sounded good with it, too. Great job, and looks like a really fun winter project.

    I was watching you video and loved the way it turned out. I didn't know you could use tung oil. I am just starting my first kit, got the neck glued and it's like you said. Solid, tight tolerances and looks great. I am addicted.

      This one is Tru Oil which is a little thicker than Tung oil but in the same family of oil based finishing. Tru oil offers slightly more protection than tung oil. Thanks for watching. Good luck on your first build and don’t hesitate to ask for advice if you need it. I have built a lot of guitars and happy to pass what I have learned on.

    I love the kitchen table! Way more clean than mine! I would love to have a free kit - lots of kids around here would love a donated guitar! I have enough guitars, but I love building!

    Great build, man! I'm in the middle of building a Bad Cat Zebra LP. I can't wait to play it. I went with a red dye, and Shangze liked it. After chatting with him for a while, he invited me to be an admin on the page. The next Bad Cat kit I'm planning to buy is the Thinline Tele-style, but I would love to the proud new owner of that Strat Kit as well. I love the quality and customer service of Bad Cat Instruments. It's a company that has earned a lifelong customer here. Great video. Take care, and I'll see you on the next build.

    At first, I thought I’d pass on the contest to win this kit. Lord knows I don’t need another one. I got to thinking how blessed I am with all the guitars I have and I decided if I win this guitar, I will build a patriotic themed guitar and find a guitar playing American Veteran (active or retired) and give it to them to enjoy. That guitar sound great and I know if you’re endorsing V, it’s going to play great as well. Cheers!

    Like what ya did with the pickguard choice and the simplicity of just a tru-oil finish, surprised by the stock pickups.... and you didn't say so I'll ask, did you use and type of sheilding? tape or paint?
    As far as winning the kit... well... I'm in the middle of my first build(LP style) have another set neck PRS style kit with a junk neck from a different company...need to do some shim testing on that..... so a bolt on ST would be the next logical choice for a build...especially from Bad Cat.. Have heard great things about their kits! so bring it on!

      Thanks, that’s the one down side. It’s pretty darn heavy. Haven’t weighed it but my guess is 9 &1/2 to 10 lbs.

    Why does that look bigger than a standard strat? I mean I’m not that tall, and not a big guy but it looks kinda small on me lol

    Is this thing wood or that bakelite stuff?

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  Před 2 lety

      It’s definitely wood. Likely a laminate or composite of some sort but not Bakelite.

    how is the midrange ?

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  Před 2 lety

      Not bad. Overall I’d say the pickups are decent for sure. Ceramics tend to be a little hotter and warmer sounding so the mids are a little scooped

    I want to get one of the 'Zebrawood' kits, so I googled it all, and found that it is not REAL Zebrawood. It is a man made material called Engineered wood. It is layers pressed together then cut into guitar bodies. No wood on earth looks like this stuff. It's actually very unhealthy to sand down and breathe the dust since it isn't even wood, it's like dyed epoxy'd pressed layers. Google images of real Zebrawood, you'll see that it is nothing like the guitar that they claim is Zebrawood. It is false advertising. they say there's a disclaimer, NO there ISN'T. The only one telling you is me.

      Wow this is wild I thought it was odd I thought it looked alot different than the zebrawood on one of ibanez's. Seems really exotic for the price. I would be interested to see how this fake wood holds up over time. Still neat and interesting technology.. the false advertising though... especially if breathing it while sanding is harmful to health that is definitely a concern. Glad I saw your comment. Thanks. Still a great review and loved this video
