It seems I confused myself due to the many disassembles and reassembles I required in preparation for this video. The orientation on the picture is the same as the shipping condition. Just the middle piece is flipped by 180°. All good! :D
I sent your question to Oskar :)
Christian, feel free to contact me directly via oskarvandeventer.nl/index_contact.htm, so I can email you the Hanayama solution of Cast Chain. Oskar
tut tut........... I saw that at first glance..............honest :)....... ty for the vid as always
P Dizzle can you perhaps do some puzzles we could try to work out on youtube? Ones that aren't tactile?
Mr.Puzzle did you have your morning coffee?
I almost threw this puzzle in a pond. Luckily I found this vid. Thanks
Did you get the puzzle back?
@@toonkid5196 he said he ALMOST threw it idiot
This was my first Hanyama puzzle, I've had it for many years and it is still my favourite. I can disassemble and reassemble it with my eyes closed, or behind my back, although I can't guarantee I'll have every piece in the correct orientation. Thank you for a great channel Mr Puzzle, and an extra thank you for doing my favourite puzzle!
I must have looked extremely bored at the barbershop today with just one employee in and 5 people waiting. They gave me this and it was my first Hanyama puzzle. After fiddling with it for an hour, during which I somehow even managed to tangle chains 1 and 3 together, the first chain popped free with the most satisfying clang on the desk.
I've had this puzzle so long I forgot the original positioning! I finally solved it, then came looking for details... and found I had put it back together without the final step! Thank you for this, it's a great puzzle, glad I can solve it correctly now
I have this one. The “other configuration” with #3 flipped, is much harder, but still doable
how do you solve it in that orientation
You should do more puzzle from Oscar puzzles. These videos are the best.
You make it look so easy!
This is my favorite kind of puzzle: deceptively simple. In the description on Amazon, I noticed it indicated that there are three ways to solve it, depending on which piece is in the middle. ingenious!
can u tell me how to solve it if the 1 piece is in the middle bc i am confused lol
I love this channel! I’m not very good at puzzles, but since I’ve been watching yours I’m slowly tapping into the puzzle solving part of my mind! Thank you!
Very unique. like it!
Aha! My hanayama! I'll take it. ☺loved the video but i usually do. Glad the quality and content of your videos remains consistent. And how you interact with your fanbase.
Thanks! 😁
When my parents brought this with them from japan in 2002 or 2006 - I can't remember - it took me two whole weeks until I figured it out... Great puzzle.
You are magical. I was literally looking for this puzzle on your channel two hours ago!
😁😂
dax the duck, signing off
I would say, the single pieces orientation does not matter. The important to me is the pieces link order, one dot - two dots - three dots. I have not seen any strategical changes when the pieces is orientated different. It is one orientation that is important during the solving and that is a part of the puzzle.
(Because if you have a maze with one roundabout on the way, what way through the roundabout should then be the correct?)
Hi I'm a new subscriber. Thank you for the videos, I find them very interesting. I'm thinking of buying a few of these puzzles to keep on my coffee table for when I have company come over. They would make a great conversation piece. Thanks again :)
You make it all look so easy :)
Great video. I got this puzzle a few weeks ago and just solved it last night, pretty much the same way that you did. I however now seem to be able to take it apart in just two steps, i no longer need to change the order of the pieces to 1-2-3, i can simply just remove piece 1 from 2, or piece 3 from 2 immediately, I'm not muscling them apart but it is tight, and there is a good amount of friction between the pieces when I remove them. This leads me to believe I may have either slightly widened the pieces, or worn away at the metal enough to make this now possible where maybe it wasn't before. Have you ever found you were able to do this? I enjoy the puzzle a lot as do my kids ( we've begun collecting more these hanayama puzzles) and want to make sure it's still functioning as intended. Thanks!
Very cool!
I love this puzzle
Very cool!!
The first puzzle I owned. Took a while to figure it out but it's easy once you figure it out. It's fun to amaze my friends by doing it in the pocket of a hoodie or something
I like this one, ccool puzzle!
I got this puzzle for Christmas and I chose now to look up a video just to complete it
Quartet is my favorite
Clever!
How do you dream up and design a puzzle like this?
Oskar is a magical being
FOUR STEPS! THAT'S ALL IT TAKES! and yet it looks like I will have to sweat blood and to solve and reassemble it, 😁
giovanni yorke i solved it myself and I know the trick but i've managed to put the puzzle in a such mess that I can't solve it anymore :(
poof65 lol lol, wow well my friend I good with it thank you lol
damn it took me a whole day to solve
Great video, great explanations! don't think I'd have the patients for this lol I'd probably end up smashing it as I have in one of my videos ! LOL
Oskar is a genius. I can't stop repeating that. He amazed me with his gear mechanisms but I'm always surprised to see how many other puzzles he developed.
The solution i found wasn't really forced, but it allowed me to solve it without feeding the rings through each other. I wonder if this was intended... It involves using the notch in piece 1 and placing the head of piece 3 (with the squared notch) in it as you rotate piece 3 out of piece 2
Bruh, I got my chain tangled in a knot; how do I fix it ?
Communism's Awesome bruh me to 😰
Also me
Sandra Stevens I did that the solution is to try and get them to how you put them together and just put them in that stance and take them apart I’ve done it so many times I know which one will be in the middle after
I believe that the reassembly should go aaaall the way to the 1-2-3 setup where everything is in mirror image. This way it takes 8 steps to disassemble correctly. This I think is specifically done, because you end up with a mismatch of the notches in 1 and 3 after making the first 4 steps which forces you to think further and make 4 more steps. If you do it this way, I do think it is worth a 6 out of 6 stars.
I like it ty
It's a rocket science, 😂😂😂. Great video by the way. love it.
Wow !!
This puzzle is off the chain!
Great puzzle, level 6 is why I chose this one took 30mins-1 hr to solve.
Cool. I've had this thing for months and couldn't even figure out the first step.
This was the second Hanayama puzzle I got, and I could manage to solve it. One of my favorite. But I didnt notice the correct starting orientation you carefully mentioned in this video. Didnt think i would matter. But maybe it does, and that is why it is considerated a lvl 6 puzzle.
First time, I found a method to solve this with a bit of force, without using the notches. I was dissapointed it was so easy, but I was certain it had to be another way to solve it, and it fortunately was :)
I had a colleague who solved it with force. He complained how much force it took him, but finally it went smoothly. When he returned the puzzle to me, the puzzle was completely bent open, and I had to use a vice to bend it back. Hint: absolutely no force is needed, not even a single "click". The official no-force-needed solution requires 18 moves.
It makes me wonder if the gaps could have been made narrower to prevent this.
I believe the original scrambled state is 1-2-3. To solve it you have to get 3 in the middle. One of my favourite puzzles btw...
According to the box shown in the video, the objective is to disassemble and reassemble.
I know it's old video now, but it does say, depending which is the centre piece , there are a few solutions.
Its states it on the leaflet
I think it would take at least 50 hours for me to separate them.. and 20 after seeing this :)
I've tried and I'm trying and I'm still trying this damn thing
I wish there were videos about how they designed the puzzles
GREAT VIDEO ! LIKE ALWAYS 👍 I liked and I already subscribed;)
Trust
CZAXA I KIFLICH liked xD
you to
Does he do the hanayama puzzles? the quartet and lock one?would love to see that
On the Canadian (?) packaging, there is a note that the puzzle can be solved in 3 ways, depending on which piece is chosen as the middle link.
I was able to disassemble and reassemble it in an hour and a half..very misleading and fun
What is your favorite Hanayama puzzle?
Mr.Puzzle I noticed that my Hanayama Padlock puzzle has the same condition
I Love cast marble and quartet..love your content;)
Mr.Puzzle no I didn’t . Ur vids are great 👍
A lot of mistakes happen in printing. It could be possible the image got reversed. ?
Helix!
Guys, don’t think you’re cheating by watching this guy do it. I copied him step by step and it still took me f**king ages !
Hi mr. Puzzle, I had the chain taken apart several times. This last time I inadvertently put the part with one dot in backwards. Now I can't take it apart again. I can only get as far as the last step where you have to align part one withe the notch in part three. Part one is backwards and I do not know how to get around this step. Can you help?
That looked so easy... You already done a similar puzzle which was waybharder than this one. I pretty much saw the solution right away...
Please help I’ve tangled mine some sort of way and can’t move any of the pieces.
I'm in the same boat, ever fix this?
I accidentally flipped number 1 so that the notches don’t align and I can’t solve it anymore can someone please help me !?!
Hey Mr. puzzle another great video. From my observation it didnt seem too challenging for u to award a level 4. I've seen u do way more complex puzzles that u awarded a 4. Nevertheless, another good solve. 👍From Clearwater, FL.
THANKS I COULDNT REMEMBER I SOLVED THESE WHEN I WAS 6
Do Excalibur puzzle..
I bought this puzzle a few weeks ago (my first Hanayama series) and lucked out into the solution in about 20 minutes. Now I just leave it at work to torment my coworkers, none of which have been able to solve it yet.
It’s crazy cause I did this puzzle in 20mins when I first got it but Vortex took me 3 months!
Now I'm practicing to impress my friends lol
My chain's piece 1 is different and I can't do this!!!ㅜㅜ
There's a way to flip #1 which is not addressed in video. Place 2 in middle and reverse flip it. Just know there are two ways to enter changing chain orientation mode. Hard to explain in words, haha.

I guess considering the engraved dice numbers it would make sence that this is the wanted solution.
And as u said there are many "wrong ways" to asamble it back .... And as I think those have to be asambled by hand and not by a machine there is a good chance with such kinds of puzzels that mistakes where made ... (I think If I had to do this, after 4 hours of assambling these puzzels I would also have 2 or 3 of them not as atempted assambeld)
If it's somehow done with machines such an error could also accure with a part simply being twisted....
So basicly I would say this was an human error that your puzzels was diliverd not correctly assambeld ...
Maybe it's just an orientation, the most important it,s . 2nd must be in the middle when you reamsambled
great puzzle- it came apart whilst in my pocket!
When I put it back together I guess I flipped piece 1! Now at the last step my piece number 1 is upside down and I could not align the notch to let piece number 2 out. Frustrating!
I just got the puzzle and the same thing happened to me did you figure out how to fix it?
Same to me too
@@0rganizedonfusion same did you figure it out??
Johnmichael 28 I didn’t actually figure out a method to fix it I just kept putting them through each other until it fixed itself and was more careful when I put it back together. Good Luck!
What I like is how you give them more credit for the difficulty rating then they deserve.... you and I both know, this puzzle, and many many others I have seen you do were more of a 2 or 3 out of a maximum of 6... But, I know you say it is harder then it is because you are a very nice person. I have noticed in people with higher intelligence, myself included that we are much nicer people. We understand how others think, and don't want to offend anyone. You are a great man Mr. Puzzle! Keep on puzzling sir!
Somehow made both pieces 1 and 2 be withing piece 3 after noticing some indent in piece 1 and some hook looking thing in piece 3, sure is a difficult situation i put myself in
I am boggled by this one. Four moves for a level four puzzle huh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What got me was Mr. Puzzle placing the three parts in order in relative ease. As easy as one, two, three, right? Yowzers.
2:35 , thx
How much time it took to solve?
What if someone put it together wrong? (Which they did in my case, how can I solve it now?: the #1 peice and #3 peice notches don't line up because #3 is backwards/upside down according to video
Ok guys I need your help with this one...so I have this puzzle but I got it from Walmart and it comes in a different box. I got frustrated and then looked up this video on how to do it. However his instructions and my puzzle don’t match and the chains are in a different configuration (backward forwards where if he had two dots facing the camera my two dots are facing away, like that) so doing everything EXACTLY HOW HE DOES IT DOES NOT WORK. I noticed this on other puzzles that I ended up solving on my own and then watching him solve it and there were differences (like the nutcase puzzle and the labyrinth puzzle for instance) now I am on the hourglass puzzle and that too has a different solution or it isn’t made/assembled correctly because I followed his instructions and it didn’t work the same and I used a bit of force (which to me is a no no but that was how the enigma has to be solved because at one point using force is NECESSARY if you wanna solve it) and it came a loose just like his way of solving it. Please help or tell me if this has happened to you guys as well
Ty ty ty ty
Mine is stuck at 2.1.3. What do I need to do to get it to 1.2.3?
Hi can You Make A Vid On How To Solve The Quatro I Have The Non Screthcy Strings Stuck Lol
TRY THE "IMPOSSIBLE EXCALIBUR PUZZLE" I think you could do it
I thought it was impossible but then my mom tried it and she did it! Then I understood the solution
you're smart
my 1 is upside down from what it should be, and I don't know how to fix that.
Für mich wäre es auch mal interessant zu wissen, warum ich zwei Teile mit drei Senkungen habe und wo das Teil mit 2 Senkungen ist.
LoL 😂 I somehow have managed to get #1 into the middle and cannot figure out how to get it back to 1-2-3
Benally’s Atomic Portraits same 😂🙄🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
same. i think a family member solved this at one point and did not put it back correctly and i am going insane
Mr.Puzzle Please be honest, have you ever had to look at the solution on a puzzle, if so what puzzle what it?
in my version the nodge is in number two :(
i think the diff is because of printing issue , because with printing and photo etc you can due this with a negatve plate and a positive one .like negatives with photo's
Ok so my 1 is flipped by the last person who had it they apparently put it together wrong?? What am I supposed to do about that??
you need to put two in the middle, disconnecting one and three. rotate them 180 degrees and reconnect, them pass one and two through each other to leave the three in the middle, this time in the correct orientation
@@shazmunchdylbertoid I figured it out awhile ago but thanks!
@@fish8337 ha I figured, but figured it'd be good for anyone else having the same issue!
I bought this puzzle for me to do when nothing is going on at work. After finishing my jobs I picked up the puzzle and solved it in 10 minutes. On the box it said it was 6 stars, but man it was easy. I feel like I got robbed.
I have the flipped one version.. No idea on how to solve it... Pls heeeeelp
I got this because I enjoy brain teasers and cryptic puzzles. After a while I overthunk it and wanted to smack myself upside the forehead for literally almost having it right haha
I got mine stuck and it wont get apart anyone able to help?
i played with this one for a minute before solving. it's super easy, and i have no previous puzzle experience
but also it can be brute forced with no damage or much force. i once found it being assembled in the wrong order
now that was a real challenge, i spent like below half an hour to fix it
Very cool puzzle, but I was disappointed when I found out about the solution, I thought it might have involved getting all three untangled simultaneously.......
I solved it yesterday in less than 5 minutes but couldn't assemble it again, although I had very limited time as I was working, less than 10 minutes. I'll try to assemble it in the weekend.
hi
I threw mine away after an hour of trying to untangle it.
Just do it
I have a problem. My number 1 is in a weird position where the one part with the space is flipped opposite and it can't be put into number 3's spaced part. Can you please help?
Send me a picture on facebook
Keep trying. What you are describes is a "dead end" in this puzzle. You seams to figured out what to do. Only how to do it, left.
As long as they finish in order 1,2,3 in four moves I'm good...
Great video, and one of many. I could seem to solve mine using your instructions though, and I found a problem
At 4:18 my puzzle has the cut out on the wrong side on piece 1. Instead of the cut-out being on the bottom when part 1 is horizontal, the cut-out is on the top. This puzzle has never been solved so was it assembled incorrectly in the factory or have my attempts at a solution caused this problem, and if so how can this piece be reversed? Thank you.
