The Nordic People didn't actually have Guitars btw,a lot of the play-style on this kind of stuff is probably either Spainard or from Black Music from The US (Blues Mostly) with the more melodic and structural elements being the actual Nordic Ones with the actual Play being some Mix of African American and Spainish (that's what it is with Black Metal pretty much,Nordic Countries go crazy for Guitarists but it wasn't really anything near a thing in ancient times, probably morelike Lute and Horn).

    English Lyrical Translation:
All Harald's Danish men, they stand. Standing fast, shield locked in shield. The swords are drawn for warplay
And men and youths are seeking Valhalla, but the Norse have sealed the Fates- Hildetand's House shall perish
Now Odin has chosen to favor Ring’s cause; Sigurd shall lead the Northmen and his line be exalted a hundred years
Until his sons have left their mark
    ‘Til Ragnarok. 'Til Ragnarok
When Tyr shall joust Gamr nok
A final slaughter, in Asatru’s name, hereafter the old ways pass away
Odin, stand by me. Banish the evil within me (x2)
Then chants all Heimdal's sons in the bull's steel-drivers
The food of Hugin's flock is grown by the storm of the murder-clouds
And the offerings for the hunger of eagles set up as if to boil
The blind decrepit prays for victory from "that" with one eye
Valhalla stands near, and all einherjar are here
My desire pleads - Let me be ever loyal
Bravellir, breeze of spears, watched by the Valkyries- judging, condemning, though slowly witnessing woes and downfall.
But the Norse have sealed fate
    Hildetand's house shall perish
    My "Frey-spirit" hungers calmly
Deny me the sleep and grant me the victory
My brothers - they are near (x2)
    And Valhalla is theirs
    And mine (x2)
This song is dedicated to the battle of Bravellir where Harald Hildetand, weary that he would not enter Valhalla without meeting a warrior's death, suggested a battle be fought between he and Sigurd Ring (Ragnar’s Lothbrok's father.)
"Harald fell in the battle, some say by Odin's own hand, along with 15 kings and 30,000 free-born men. When Sigurd Ring heard that his opponent had fallen, he instantly gave the sign that the fighting should cease. The day after the battle he sought out King Harald's body and put it onto a funeral pyre along with his horse. Sigurd Ring stood before the fire and bade Harald ride straight to Valhalla and secure lodging for those who had perished." (Hvitfeldt, Arild. Danmarks Riges Krønike)

      @Katidetinjicxjo Před 9 měsíci

u should have put frijonds meins naurþis into the vocative. using ik at the first place of a sentence emphasizes this particular "ik" also þagkon takes dative instead of accusative. the verb u were seeking is not þagkan but þagkon (pgmc þankonaN) the more common verb for to thank is "awiliudon" so i would phrase it as "þus awiliudo(þagko), frijond naurþis meins"

There's a hypothesis I heard from a Swedish guy that the battle at Brávellir is the same battle that the Annals of St Neots also wrote about this same battle, but called it Bråvik. The name Bråvik is a translation of Eborvic, which is what the modern city of York in England was called long ago, and here's the striking part. That's a battle fought between the English and the Great Heathen Army.
The annals named noteable people such as Halvdan, Ric Sige, Bagsecg and Ubba de Frisia (son of Ragnar Lothbrok)
These are the same name which can be found mentioned in texts about the battle at Brávellir, but called them the following:
Harald Hildetand (Harald Wartooth, the Danish king mentioned in the song)
Sigurd Ring (The Swedish king mentioned in the song)
Bögbose (Bagsecg in the Annals of St Neots)
Ubbe (Ubba de Frisia in the Annals of St Neots)
So did the battle of Brávellir actually take place in England? Big hmmmm?

It's old norse, east style ala Jutland law. It's from around same time as Eddas and Heimskringla which is the main basis for old west norse, but east norse has very similar syntax to modern danish/norwegian. In many places it is even identical, and almost every word has a modern equivalent that were in common use no more than 50-100 years ago.
