Hugh Laurie didn’t just go to Cambridge, he rowed for them in the boat race. In addition to being an actor, producer and author, he’s also a polyglot, musician of several instruments and an avid collector and rider of motorbikes for a hobby. He’s also a dad and husband of over 33 years.
Idk if he’s still a husband. Didn’t he get divorced?
He did go to cambridge, Selwyn that is
You forgot fabulous comedian, part of the comedy team, Fry & Laurie.
@@lsaito4670 No. Hugh Laurie is still married to the same woman that he married 33 years ago this past June 16th.
@@mckavitt13 , And Black Adder. Most Americans didn't know of Hugh Laurie until House... Maybe as the voice of Thomas Little. That is, unless one is as old as I am. At 69, Hugh Laurie, Steven Fry, and Monty Python's Flying Circus was my nightly fare.
“I fell in love with a fictional character.”
Welcome to the club, Hugh. Welcome to the club.
Lola Bunny…Jessica Rabbit…Roxanne from A Goofy Movie…I am also a club member haha
Those thirsty Nala eyes in lion king
Peter Pan, the anime version from the early nineties.
Would he know that people have a crush on house? XD
Johnny Quest then Speed Racer❤😂
Hugh-manity, incarnate ... his wit, wisdom, humor and variety of talents, moreover his musical spirit and skills ... he's a treasure, indeed.
"Hugh-manity" ... well played.
I’m waiting for a new album! Lol
I am convinced, that Hugh would be a great Gandalf in a new LODR-netflix adaptation
Oh I would love to see him doing some Fantasy Fictions movies
Like Shatner is Kirk, there is only one Gandalf.
I’d also love to see a Middle Earth where everyone has a Brooklyn accent.
Stephen would most definitely need a roll also.
LODR? thought it was LOTR
Just re-watched Jeeves and Wooster. Laurie and his collaborator, Stephen Fry, were just brilliant.
I just commented recommending Jeeves with Laurie and Fry! I loved the series, and now want to watch them all again. Also, any lecture, or audiobooks narrated by Fry are gold.
The company the animated the title sequence also did the animation for Madonna's Dear Jessie video. I noticed the similarity and looked into it. Great theme tune too
Hugh is like my favourite person in the world, I’m really glad to see him back to put a smile on my face as he always has done.
It's that 'voice', isn't it? Ever since Jeeves and Wooster, I've adored his voice. His intelligence and talent and humor are just one of a kind. There will never be another!!🥰🥰
I love A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Stephen Fry and High Laurie, both of them how they interact and make comedy. Incredible people!
It's always nice to see Hugh Laurie
One of the few genuine stars of our time, in so many ways.
A person who lifts the spirits in such difficult times.
Hello from Ukraine 💙💛
Sending my love 💙 💛 and prayers 🙏
Stay strong 💪🤴
I've always been a fan of Hugh Laurie, but my respect for him just skyrocketed after this. Why didn't they ask Evans was the first Dame Christie novel I read as well and it kicked off a serious hunt for her novels and their adaptations. The central plot was truly brilliant and the main character Frankie was one of the reasons the book in itself was so delightful and memorable beyond the whodunit element. It is so heartwarming to see a fellow admirer of the book and its writer - and to find that the fellow admirer is none other than Hugh Laurie.
I need to see this and read it.
Marvellous, though it's Dame Agatha (first name, not surname). The same with Sir, Price, Princess, Queen, or King... 😁
Confusingly, it's different for Dukes, Duchesses, and Prime Ministers:
eg _Meghan, Duchess of Sussex;_ not 'Duchess Meghan'.
_The Duke of Cambridge,_ or _William, Duke of Cambridge;_ not 'Duke William' - though he _is_ Prince William!
_Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister,_ not 'Prime Minister Sunak'.
Confused? You will be...😂
Oh my goodness Hugh looks so different I firstly didn't recognize him, thank goodness for British actor's and actresses. ☺.
Actors doesn’t need an apostrophe.
@@dale4853 strangely enough as I am dyslexic my tablet does all of my spelling Dale, sadly because if I didn't have spelling app I wouldn't be able to achieve my freedom from my bipolar, ☺.

Fans of Agatha Christie (and tv adaptions) should seek out the excellent BBC production of 'And Then There Were None' from a few years ago.
Top class stuff. 👍🏻
The one with Sam Neill and Charles Dance? Soooooo good!!
@TAO TOLOGY The 1945 film with Barry Fitzgerald, Walter Huston & Louis Hayward is good as well as the 2015 TV Miniseries with Charles Dance & Toby Stephens.
@@astaraoneill9166 It really is.
The story is just so........I dunno....
"Judgement is coming" finality.
One of my favorite Christie mysteries.
@@bytheway1031 The film was much better, the pace of the series was fast too slow
I WAS LITERALLY BINGE WATCHING HOUSE JUST NOW
I watch House every day and have for years. I've seen every episode 100 times.
lol
Of course, being a chronic pain patient has something to do with it!
I love all Hugh Laurie's work, and I can't wait to see this one, too. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Stephen, if Evie hasn’t seen Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in the old Jeeves series, look it up. I’d read the Wodehouse books years ago, but had never seen the series. Anyone who hasn’t seen it should treat themselves. I found them on CZcams. A perfect antidote to the craziness we now live in. Also, Hugh Laurie’s blues special filmed in New Orleans, with jazz/blues legends is highly recommended. Laurie is so multi-faceted and talented.
I'm honestly surprised this the same guy who played George from BLACKADDER. That beard...just wow! But, I am glad to hear his British accent again.
Absolute legend !thanks for bringing him on.. cheers
I've got to see this. I'm a huge Hugh Laurie fan and I've read Christie's novel, which I found thrilling.
how can one not fucking adore Aman who says, "inveigle?"
This a lovely beard. Now to go spin up Britbox
One more to binge this weekend!
*Inveigle* [ in-vey-guhl ]
_verb (used with object),_ *in·vei·gled, in·vei·gling.*
1. to entice, lure, or ensnare by flattery or artful talk or inducements (usually followed by 'into'): _to inveigle a person into playing bridge._
2. to acquire, win, or obtain by beguiling talk or methods (usually followed by from or away): _to inveigle a theatre pass from a person._
My husband and I have been a fan of yours since Jeeves and Wooster and the beard and mustache must stay! You look terrific and seem as brilliant and creative as ever! It was a pleasure to see you again! Looking forward to why didn’t they ask Evans. Book was great and I’m sure your re-creation will be the same.
The inveigle thing is interesting because incidentally the first episode of Why Didn't They Ask Evans? has a line: "You've heard of London, don't want to baffle you with jargon."
Thanks for labelling the three parts. Love a bit of Laurie
Once a year i binge House M.D. Simply EPIC
This guy is like a God - sings, plays the piano, guitar, acts the best, down to earth and ages like fine wine!
He’s grown the beard for an upcoming role, still handsome.
Oh good to know! I was wondering “what the hell was he thinking when he suddenly decided to look 20 years older?” 😂😂😂

He's going to play Stephen Fry.
A delight to see Hugh Laurie! Shave, Hugh!
Thank You for Inveigling´g my heart

Hugh could easily play Orsen Welles!
He's about half his size, though.... and doesn't have the voice
I've been in love with Timothy Dalton's Heathcliff since I was 17. I have loved Dalton and followed him through the years. My mom called me at college in the early 70's and said "Your man just became James Bond." I was happy for him but I told her I felt like the whole world was looking at my underwear. He had been my private crush and then I knew everyone would love him
I met him on Antigua. The island was abuzz when he became JB. He seemed very nice. But as JB he looked as if he was always going to start crying. :)
I did see it. Actually, it's the third version of it I've seen. One with Tommy and Tuppence, one with Miss Marple, and this one. It's a really good story.
The beard makes him look like a English Literature professor
Hugh Laurie certainly has changed from "HOUSE" a medical drama series I just loved.
i think the accent is what took me by surprise the most
@@theapocrusader4169 he was always English ;-)
@@alexmckee4683 Yeah but this one's far heavier? He didnt sound American but he didnt sound like a heavy Englishman, no need to point out the obvious.
Frankie and Bobbie are such great protagonists 🧡 A great mini-series 📺 I want to read the novel now 🙌
Went to check it immediately because I enjoy both Christie and Laurie, not to mention Boynton. I’ve just watched the first few minutes.
Visually looks great. Aurally? Special bonus for me, so much Welsh both spoken and sung! Love it!! Would be even happier if there were subtitles in Welsh instead of . But still happy.
Everyone should learn Welsh. Diolch yn fawr.
Rwy'n cytuno!
I don't actually speak it, but have a few friends who do (and not all live in Wales). It's a beautiful language, and about as close as we have to what was spoken in the Isles before the Romans and Normans came in and trampled everything. Just for that it's worth learning. It's comforting to listen to, and fun to write!
I'll get around to it, gotta devote myself to ASL for now.
I presume you've seen Hinterland? I know there are other series out there, but until last year it was like the Welsh gateway drug since it was accessible through the most popular American streaming services. I'm not sure where to find it now, but it was great to be able to watch the whole thing in Welsh.
@@SouthCountyGal yes, I have seen Hinterland! It’s still available on AcornTV. There was another mystery show, maybe even darker, without about half the dialogue in Welsh. It’s called Hidden if I recall. I subscribe to the S4C channel on CZcams, but often as not that’s just rugby talk.

"Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" is a very enjoyable story, and nowhere near as frustrating as The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Don't get me started.
Wait! Why The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is frustating? It's one of if not the most celebrated Christie's work.
@@tiararoxeanne1318 Spoiler alert: the reason it's celebrated is also the reason that many people don't like it. It's very divisive.
Oh my goodness please get started I want to know why you feel that way about The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Wait, is it because the twist introduced something to crime novel that hadn't existed prior to then and has been used so many times since? I loved it. One of my favorites for that reason, but I'm much more partial to Miss Marple than Poirot. I do enjoy how she kills him off quite a bit though.
@@KatieGray1 Why do you prefer Miss Marple than Poirot? I think Miss Marple could be rather boring sometimes.
@@KatieGray1 Of course you're correct. I think it's the only time I can remember getting angry AT a book. The unwritten code had been broken! I really enjoy Miss Marple as well. The way she applies the lessons learned by observing people in her own village to the suspects' behaviour is beautiful genius.
He’ll always be Bertie Wooster to me. ❤️
So love his talent!
Definition of inveigle
(transitive verb)
1 : to win over by wiles
2 : to acquire by ingenuity or flattery
Example: She inveigled her way into a promotion.
Love the jousting between these brilliant men
He "fell in love with a fictional character." Yeah me too.. Gregory House 😍
Ooh good! We subscribe to BritBox!
Fully reading this book now on his recommendation. Maybe someday I'll be able to watch the series
I hope Evie gets a chance to hang out with Hugh Laurie, he's kind of an Anglophile's dream.
OMG I can't wait!!!
His adaptation is fantastic, highly recommend
Stephen, if you aren't familiar with the song "Madeira, M'Dear", I highly recommend it, if only for a nice example of the use of "inveigle".
Well at least we know what House looks like in Quarantine! Hugh Laurie looks so widely different, I had to hear him to be able to tell it’s him!
It can be many decades but I will always miss House.
He looks so different!
I know, it's the beard.
Lovely to see the irrepressibly brilliant Miles Jupp get some much deserved screen-time in the background of this clip. Fitting given he so aptly fulfills the dramatic and comedic traditions of Laurie and Fry (doesn't feel right in that order).
Miles Jupp is in it? Oh, I'll definitely watch it, then - loved him since Rev. (though the character himself drove me up a wall!).
@@rejoyce318 I'm sure he is happy any time someone recognizes him from something other than Balamory.
I'm a huge british comedy fan (mostly of the stand up variety, but also talk shows and radio shows etc.) So I was surprised and happy to see Miles Jupp, but felt the need to double check it was him, since his hair is rarely so well groomed (and his cheeks usually have a boyish glow that makeup likely diminshes... I don't imagine he is such a good actor that he can keep the pink from his cheeks!). Thanks to your comment, I didn't need to go look it up!
Miles with a straight face still makes me laugh.
I read it at the age of 16 for the first time, the deception of plot makes it one of the best novels written by A.Christie
watching talk show hosts trying to keep up with hugh laurie or stephen fry for that matter, is like watching a pacemaker try to keep up with a long distance champion. they can hang for a few laps, but eventually the gap widens...
That's a great King George V look Hugh.
It was quite well done.
Love Agatha Christy books!!!
Glad they made it, I know i tried to listen to the audiobook falling asleep and I just never made it very far, probably because it begins on a gold course. When you see it you may understand how he fell in love with Frankie.
What’s a gold course?
Oh how I fell in love with Hugh Laurie’s character. Just brilliant his accent just barely noticeable. I recorded all of the episodes of House. How I wish real doctors could be a real House character.
I’ll try and catch up with his British movies . Love Hugh Laurie. 😘
Love the plot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugh giving some serious Alan Moore vibes here!
His real accent still shocks me 👨⚕️🏠
2:40 enveigle - 1. to win over by wiles : entice. 2 : to acquire by ingenuity or flattery : wangle
I did not even recognize him at first. But the eyes give him away. I swear it would be amazing if he came back as House.
How could the story go on?
That's some kinda beard, Hugh! Nice job!
Oh wow... I haven’t seen him in a while!
I also remember the first time i read that book (it was 30 yrs ago, i was not 4 🤭). He's right, it was masterful. Love AC mysteries.😍

The clip feels like one of House’s weird dreams where he happens to be acting in a mystery scene while attempting a British accent.
Omg.... I'd love to see him on #Bridgerton Impossible? Yes. Unimaginable? No! And he's British ❤️
now why would a garbage show like Bridgerton have an actually good actor like Laurie
@@RudolphCookie how about Bridgerton is actually successful? In comparison with something like Holmes & Watson?
@@perfect0nly hahaha your biggest mistake is thinking successful = good
@@RudolphCookie your biggest mistake is assuming you know other people's thought process. Sometimes actors want to reach a wider audience or get that big fat check for 5 minutes of screen time. Not to mention that even guilty pleasure shows often have some bigger names for smaller parts, like Anthony Stewart Head.

For a man who's exposed to several different cultures like me, English language is the best for the future.
As a writer i chose English language to write, because i am so much in love with the vast literature it has provided to the world and i love English language for some other political, emotional, sentimental reasons as well. If a writer says he, she hates English language, it means he is not staying true to his, her craft. Since I love the language and it's literature it's easy for me to learn and practice it.
