the most underrated one liner is somewhere in season 2 (the episode with the swim team) when cordelia complains that the school never excels at anything, and willow very genuinely offers "we have a high mortality rate :) "

Similarly, at the end of season 3, when the writer for the school paper thinks Oz will be mad at him for a bad review of his band. Oz admits that he only reads the school paper for the obituary.
also i just remembered in the prom episode the guy mentions that, thanks to buffy, their grade has the lowest mortality rate of sunnnydale high

Honestly, this show was something else. The way Giles calmly says "She's a student" kills me every time.
For God's sake, man, she's eighteen. And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. Just have at it, would you, and stop fluttering about.
To be fair to Wesley, Charisma Carpenter was 29 at the time, the oldest of the group of "teens".

@@rwwilson21 I almost said that one myself. It might be my favourite from the whole show and Alyson delivers it perfectly. Although for some reason I always misremember it as "I doodle, I DO doodle, you do doodle too." Which I know is wrog but that's brains for you. 🙂

When Spike tries to bite Willow but cant cause of the chip in his head then awkwardly discuss if its performance issues or Willow isnt pretty enough....always cracks me up

The thing is I understood the gesture _perfectly._ I was like:"Ah,yes,she's a Slayer so the 1st thing she thinks of is:"Let's stake them!"Makes sense.U.U"and then she had to repeat the gesture _with_ the stake in her hand and I was like:"Why did she have to re-do that?ò.O Wasn't it clear enough the 1st time?Are you all dumb?"
One day the Slayer will be able to move as fast as Wesley taking his hand off Cordelia.

The little gag where Spike is pretending to bite Joyce while Angel is watching them from outside of the house always gets me

Spoyce was always better than Spuffy.
In the haunted house the demon rising from the floor. It yells about how bad he is. He rises further to stand 10inches tall. Xander mocks him, Giles warns him not to." Why" ask a suddenly nervous Xander. "Will it hurt us?" Ask Xander. "No" said Giles, it's just tacky.
Cracks me up every time.
I loved the visual effect of the fear demon rising up. They make you think it's huge instead of tiny.

i love how so many of these hinge on Giles just being so *done* and visibly thinking 'how is this my life?'.. I keep going back every few years and rewatching this show, and the one-liners and jokes are just comedy gold, but it my serious opinion that half of it wouldn't have been nearly as funny without Giles' face in the background to express what most of us are thinking on the other side of the screen... XD
Or his voice from off camera. When Willow comes out to the rest of the gang and Xander says "Wait, Tara's your girlfriend?" Giles says "Bloody hell!" from upstairs.
Anthony Stewart Head was such a gift to this show
The older I get, the more I identify with Giles.
My fav will always be Giles' drunken "Bloody hell" when Willow explains her relationship with Tara
That line had me cracking up !!!

Three moments that slay me every time:
1. Olaf asking Spike and Xander where can he find babies to eat, and Spike turns to Xander and asks, “Where do you think, the hospital?”
2. As someone else has previously posted, when Giles says, “Bloody hell,” off-screen after everyone learns that Willow is gay.
3. “A bear! You made a bear!”
“I didn’t mean to.”
“Undo it! Undo it!”

Well,it's only fair. After all, Buffy had a major meltdown when she discovered that her mom had been sleeping with Giles.

My fave Cordy line "one of these days you're going to wake up in a coma"
Even funnier when you realize this is exactly what happens to Cordelia in the end. She wakes up in a coma.

@@johndododoe1411 Oh gosh, I can't remember the episode number, but Cordelia walked in to find Giles unconscious after being hit in the head.
She roused him, said that line and he repeated it back in an exasperated tone.
@@johndododoe1411 I think it's in season 3, episode 11, Gingerbread. Cordelia finds Giles having been knocked out at Buffy's house and then says the line when he wakes up.

The line that slays me every time is, “They got the mustard out!”

My favorite Episode 😂😂 and Anya's song about evil bunnies 😂😂
I had that song stuck in my head last week. It lives rent free in my brain. 😂
Even better in a later episode, we get the flashback showing the song when he got the mustard stain.
I like the episode when they have hyped up this mega powerful demon that someone is attempting to summon, and at the end it comes out and is talking about everyone kneeling before him. Only for it to zoom out and it's the size of a Barbie doll, and they are just staring in disbelief.
And then later Giles is reading the book about him, which he had been the whole episode when he curses, and they are suddenly wary. He shows them the image of the demon in the book, and in small print there is note he missed saying, "depicted actual size."
For part 5 perhaps....
One of my favorite Halloween episodes of any show ever.
I always thought Spike's funniest line was actually on Angel. "You're a bloody puppet." Burst into schoolboy laughter.

LOLOLOLO, and Angel gets ripped to shreds by his Were Wolf Girl Friend at that time of the month.
The Judge was my favorite baddie kill of the series. They spent the whole episode hyping him up as this ultimate bad ass, just for him to have 3 lines then get blown up 😂

Buffy did know how to manage a surprising number of deus ex finales while not overdoing it too much.

The best one of those was, I forget the demons name, the scary horrible demon they were preparing for that they failed to notice the book caption under his drawing that said "actual size" and they just stepped on him :D

And Xander saying, "Who's a little fear demon?" to it. Then Giles warning him not to taunt the fear demon, and Xander pausing asking, "Why...?" somewhat abashed, "can it hurt us?" [something to that effect]. And Giles says, "No, it's just tacky."

My favorite bit of Comedy(besides ALL OF THEM) was when a vampire was stuck on a Root trying to get out of his Geave but couldn't, so he had to listen to Buffy's Complain about Riley for over an Hour. The look on his face the entire time could be summed up with "Why, God, Why?!" 😂😂
Or the where Buffy works at the Doublemeat Palace and she is walking home. A vampire walks up her, smells something, and goes "Good God, slayer, is that you?"
Leave it up to Spike to hit the nail on the head my favorite was. "Ben! Glory! He's a doctor. She's the Beast. Two entirely separate entities sharing one body. It's like a bloody sitcom."
So you're saying that Ben and Glory are somehow related?
The one clip I never get out of my head, is a total cast off.
(At the bronze) When Xander runs to get buffy a stake from her bag, and he freaks when he pulls out a tampon. Such a flash in the pan physical comedy was so well done.

This show had it all, drama, comedy, thriller, horror, tragedy. Despite knowing now how dysfunctional on-set could be, this show had a spark that no other in my memory has quite matched.
I was in my Mid 30's watching EVERY episode. In my l later 30's when Tara was killed. All I knew was that dude was so DEAD for killing her.

@@josieholloway3286 You absolutely should! The first season is campy, but short, the second season is where you start to see what this show can really do, and then it just grows and grows from there to become one of the greatest things to ever be on television ♥️

@@josieholloway3286 You must, there is a reason why this show is still talked about 20+ years on and they even teach university classes on it. As someone else’s said the first season is a little shaky but it only go’s from strength to strength after that. It may be old but it’s still relevant even today.
The part with The Judge(What's that do?) missed the critical pieces: when Buffy brings out the rocket launcher, all the vampires around The Judge scatter because they know exactly what that do.
I loved the scene where Buffy tells the watchers how things are going to go and throws the sword ATT the guy who interrupts her.

Same episode, when Buffy and Spike announce their engagement-

Giles: Three excellent questions.
When Buffy, Willow, and Anya are all under the spell of RJ’s jacket and each try to prove their love in ridiculous ways, particularly Buffy attempting to kill the principal.
Those are just some of the first to come to mind.
She gives him the mug of blood, "I bet you feed Angel like this once?

Harmony: "Slayer, at last we meet!"
Buffy: "We've met, Harmony, you half-wit"
Harmony's note: Slayer come out and die!
Harmony: "We know you're in there, Buffy!" >:)
Some of this was comedy gold, but other parts? Painfully relatable, especially Xander's confirmation of being alive

"Willow's dead.... Hey Willow." Is one of my favorite parts from that episode, and that episode is one of my favorites of the whole series.
Actual favorite moment from the episode is a tossup between. the "That's me as a vampire?" scene, and "I'm a bloodsucking fiend! Look at my outfit."

Giles’s lines always kill me like in season 2 he’s driving to Buffy’s house and making fun of Joyce to himself “🎶Look at my new mask…isn’t it prETty🎶…it brings people BACK FROM THE DEAD! “

Cheese guy was the best character IMO .. 😂 it was how he delivered that really showed peak character development.

Giles accidentally walking into a tree in episode EARSHOT was not in the script - it was suggested to the director by actor Anthony Head who expected the suggestion to be turned down as "too much" but was surprised when the director told him to go ahead and do it.
I can't express how much this show means to me, it was on another level.
I have a soft spot for high school buffy and scoobies. Happier, less complicated times.

Odd that I forgot just how funny and clever Buffy was, given that I still admire how funny and clever Firefly was!

Being a creative genius doesn't mean not being a total dickhead as a person. Witness Alfred Hitchcock throwing birds at Tippi Hedren after she refused to go out with him or Kubrick traumatizing Shelley Duvall into a mental breakdown on The Shining because he didn't understand the concept of acting to achieve the effect he was after.
@@nagranoth_ if you watch enough of his work, you recognize his humor style. I was watching Roseanne and thought, "lol sounds like a line from Buffy." Come to find out, Whedon was writing for Roseanne at the time.

Not going to lie, I was ready to raise my hackles when Willow dusted and there was still time on the clock, but you did not disappoint. Well done all around. Even kept the music at a volume such that perhaps it was a little too loud but at least we could hear what the characters were saying

Most non violent rocket launcher ever.
I have used one of those before in basic training. They do not make a tiny cute little burp of pretty glitter flames like in the show, that you can safely jump away from at point blank range as they explode. No dear reader no. They go big kaboom. Biiig boomy kaboommyboom! And annihilate everything within 50 to 100 ft 101 to 120 gets scorched and everything at 121 to 130 is lovingly warmed by the fires of man made hell.
