@@xaxabdo Split-screen or shared screen co-ops are making a come-back, but they're not as popular given the PC platform is geared more towards single-player, online multi-player, or MMO schemas.
Consoles are the name of the game where split-screen co-op would be expected and should be encouraged.
It's a logical push-back and promo-tool against the pay wall.
every game is a 2 hour demo on steam. :) I tried palworld last weekend, bought it on friday night, played for an hour didnt like it. The money never actually left my bank account. Had access again the next morning.
@Shugg-Goff-HHoffical Steam next fest is the ONLY reason we're getting demos and I'm all about it.
This game SCREAMS for VR support.
First thing I wondered was if it used Unreal Engine for that reason.

Elite Dangerous give me that feel a lot but it isn't fully VR supported so you kinda need bunch of shortcuts on keyboard to play comfortably.
Also F them for straight up ignoring VR support for Horizons content

Anyone remember when FDev said nobody wants ship interiors and all the excuses that came along with that? Could someone point it out to them that these space trucks have interiors, and EVA repairs. ......In the demo.

Well this game was obviously designed around it, and it serves a purpose. It's not tacked on after the fact with zero reason to exist. Games like Elite are designed around skillful piloting and combat. There's literally no reason to be out of your seat. Diverting resources and development time to add on a superfluous feature like that just starves the rest of the game, and steers it away from it's real purpose.

Elite dangerous in VR is glorious. It seems a shame that i cant explore the ship interiors like in SC. It would complete the experience for me.

@@briannewman532 What @zimms87 said. Also I was okay without them. Meaning it wasn't deal breaker. That is until they told me I didn't want them. As well Elite is not designed around skillful piloting, it is designed around grind. It's real purpose is to be a time sink. Lastly, speaking of superfluous and tacked on that was all of Odyssey.
The reason I played Elite for so long was FOR space trucking. I am beyond excited for this game.
I'm livid at how much more immersive and cohesive it looks than many more "serious" games in the same genre. Like, 40+ years of "space trucking" sims and _this_ is the one that looks to hit everything I've wanted? _THIS ONE?!_

Exactly what I was thinking too! All I've wanted for years is a modern Freelancer or something close to Freelancer, this game hits quite close on certain aspects. I have to take this as proof that Freelancer's type of a game can be made in a reasonable amount of time and effort. But somehow space exploration/trading/simulation games get stuck in limbo forever? 🙄

@@lgjm5562 Its the weirdest thing. I would drive 8, 9 hours then do another couple hours on American Truck Sim. Lots of drivers do it for whatever reason. For me I think I was chasing the owner operator aspect of ATS. Now that I'm an owner operator I don't really play the game anymore.
@@omgitsro makes great sense. I see truckers complain and complain at how hard life is OTR. I have a few times recommended to them to try American Truck Simulator and they freak....you think I am gonna drive for 14hrs and then get in back of truck and drive for 4 more on a game?! Add space and suddenly a lot might be like ohhhhhhhh ok
It's like someone was a fan of that one Cowboy Bebop episode with the truckers, I got very similar vibes from this!

Just to let you know you can actually turn flight assist off, its one of the buttons on the dash and when you do it keeps you going in that direction and speed =).

ive been following this Game for like a Year now. im so excited. knowing how popular ATS and ETS2 is, it would be a no brainer to make this Game popular. They just have to make it like ETS2 but in Space. Creating your own Company, choosing what you want to haul, Open World....a man can dream.

Yes, if they can match what makes ETS2 so good, then they could be on to a great thing. ETS2 came out in 2012 and nearly 14 years on, is still going strong.
It really takes a lot from ETS2 and ATS2. Like how skills unlock new cargo types and stuff on that side of things. The audio design is AMAZING and the world feels almost comedic in nature but believable. It looks so good.
The space junk outside the highway is genius. Nice risk/reward and makes sense
And now I have to play this with "Space Truckin'" by Deep Purple on repeat....
I'm really excited for this game. Simple premise, but also just looks really comfy to play.
So, Europa Truck Simulator? Great premise, I slightly wish the slight gimmick of them being space big rigs wasn't such a front and centre thing with more believable space freighters being the stars of the show, but hey! Maybe that's for down the line... a nice one to follow.
I kinda like that aspect. It's like truckers love those big nosed things so much they had to look like that in space also. So they were accommodated for.
It kinda makes sense to me as well that all other spacecrafts would instantly understand that it was a space truck from miles away by the appearance.
The police or customs vehicles that stop you in the demo look more sci fi. Not just cop cars in space.
Yeah ETS2 has a following because of the simulation aspect. If they have good HOTAS support for this it can be nice.

Tried the demo and loved it, even when I died from heat exposure
Wow, this evokes the 1996 Dennis Hopper movie "Space Truckers".
I was that guy in elite where all i did was trading and smuggling, so i really loved the demo. So waiting for the full release
as a truck-driver IRL, I find the premise of the game interesting. I gotta say that not having to worry about flat tires and blowing coolant lines is a bonus; I just couldn't imagine having to call out a tech to repair my gravity generator or power drive coupling though...LOL.
The position of those thrusters off center from the center of mass would turn your little truck into a merry-go-round.
kinda looks like what space trucking is in Cowboy Bebop. Definitely gonna check this demo out when i get home!

I wishlisted this one a long time ago, but I am blown away with how good it is. It's so much fun so far. I will be buying it for sure when it comes out.

I saw an ad for this on something and immediately had to check it out. Found your review, and wanted to say I love your content throughout the years keeping us grounded on the latest changes to our old and new favorite space games!
I checked this video out because of the cool name, but didn't expect the ships to be actual Peterbuilts... Lol... I agree that this could use VR...
I played the crap out of a game called Frontier Pilot Simulator which had a similar idea but isolated to a planet. This is exactly what i wanted.
This game has no business being as enjoyable as it is and obviously has the potential for. It's one of those demos that leave you wanting more which is a good metric for "buy" in my opinion.
Whats more surprising is that its finally a blue collar space game where it dosnt look like a dystopia, its just another frontier where tradesmen and freight haulers end up, simple as. Hope it keeps that vibe.

That sure looks like a quick alternative to getting cargo-ready on EVE, or even Elite. Good to see that free demos are also starting to make a bit of a comeback.

Wow, this is one of the very few games I am actually excited for? It looks amazing and so different than any other space game.
This seems nice :) I need something that provides me with an explorable mobile home, and a world to explore with it.
I played the demo and really enjoyed it, can't wait for the full release, too bad there's no date yet.
Rebel galaxy outlaw was close. I love how this is more on the nose inspired by the largely unsung Space Truckers Game.

Its as if you imagine in the 60s and gravity was realized and gravity manipulators became a common thing. So silly of a game yet works and that is kinda awesome!

I have to get this game those 70s rock kids were on some great drugs to come up with songs like that. That one song spawned an entire sci-fi genre that spans from manga/anime to Hollywood to now games. The entire concept is so bada**.
This is just silly, but pretty obvious the devs care about the details which is nice.
Missed opportunity for this to be a follow-up to that 8-hr road simulator in space lol

If you thought reversing in 2D horizontal directions was challenging, now imagine doing it with vertical directions as well, in a 3D environment.

I agree, tried the demo as soon as it was available. Really fun, not perfect by any means but it's already got a lot of great things going on.
Comfy atmosphere and very smooth game-play.

I enjoyed euro and american truck sim, never thought about a trucking game in space! looks cool and makes you think about what a cool future this would be.
Such a nice concept and right up my alley - all my cash in Elite has been made from space trucking. Only thing is I'm not a fan of the american style with the signage and truck look. I'd prefer it if it had its own style. But I'll still play it.
This game is definitely a lot of fun. My wallet is waiting for it.

demo is super cool, but they absolutely need to add travel on the up and down axis. You can't have any space sim without that movement. Other than that i loved the demo.

But I felt I wanted to point out the truck does indeed have flight assist enabled by default
You can turn it off with the triangular button between the light switches just below your speedometer
considering how popular euro/merkan trucking simulators were 10yrs ago, i'm surprised it took this long to come out with a space version.
i hope there's some easter eggs in the game from the movie, and i hope YT brings the movie back free with ads.

I want to get the full version of the game but I also want upgrades, different trucks, you know. stuff we can spend our money on and make life easier as we continue playing. I like to even armor our trucks, add a truck sheields to help out before breaking the hull. Even with the ultimate truck, you will need it as some areas of space is extra dangerous with high grave field requiring more engine power, heavy debrie field requiring shields, etc.
Anyways, Demo is cool but like to see the full game.

This looks so bad ass! It looks like almost the perfect game for me! Really what I’d like is something like Elite Dangerous that’s more Elite and less Dangerous. I want to live a boring, mundane space life where there isn’t a troll or serial killer behind every corner. It’s fine to have space be dangerous, because it is, but I don’t need universal combat everywhere I turn. Let that show up in very narrow, specific kinds of scenarios that you can mostly pretty easily predict and just avoid if it’s not your thing. I want to have fun being boring!
