    The belly press is a good test to assess strength and or pain of the subscapularis muscle. Adding a pressure cuff can help you objectify the measurements.

    I failed this test because i feel pain, but passed Lift off sign. Should i do lift of with weights while lying on the ground face down to strengthen the subscapularis?

    So if I have pain doing this. Is it 100% I have a subscapularis tear. Or can it be inflammation. If it’s a tear do I need surgery

      Nah, IMO most often surgery is not required, the body is an amazing self-healing organism, however, depends on the degree of tear. A chronic 3rd degree tear may require surgery. However, IMO long experience working with shoulders, the pain can simply arise from an active myofascial trigger point, and can be relieved by a deep sustained, but pain-tolerated pressure of the siad TP, which when found can elicit referred pain into the superior/superior aspect of the G-H joint and into the medial side of arm/elbow. Always try a couple of practioners of Myofacial TP (modus Janet Travell) e.g. chiropractor, Hans-on physiotherapist . Good luck Dr Peter Vithus DC

    Hey! is there values of differences in pressure between the tested muscles that we can be "worried"about? because probably everyone has a difference between their arms.

    Franchement, qui sort son coussin de pression pour faire du comparatif de force entre les deux sub-scap sur le BPTest ? L'essentiel de la vidéo est peut-être dans l'esthétique des physios...

    Hello, if i use the sphygmomanometer cuff, what values must there be? how much pressure should i initially put to the cuff?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 3 lety

      There are no standard values, but you could compare them to the unaffected side or used them for gauge progress of your rehab program

    What would pain/discomfort indicate in the anterior shoulder (2 finger widths lateral to corocoid process) when performing this test?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  Před 6 lety +1

      If this test is painful it might indicate a subscapularis tendinopathy. Also makes sense when you look at your description of the pain location.

    My pain fits the description of shoulder impingement. I thought I was cured when I did a pec minor release and got a lot of relief but, the pain has come back. The pec minor no longer feels tight/painful when I do the release exercise. Retracting and depressing my scapula in preparation to do a bench press gives me the impingement pain on the top and sometimes front of my shoulder.
    I get some pain on the rear of my shoulder when I do this test. Do you know what this could mean?

      No, really hard to say without seeing you in person.
      We'd suggest to see a local physio and have a look at our 'Subacromial Pain Rehab' playlist to look for exerises that could help you.

      Okay, thanks, I'll check them out. I get discomfort in the shoulder blade area if I do an isometric chest contraction with my palms slightly below my belly button. Does that help at all?

      @Physiotutors  Před 6 lety +2

      Not really. Like we said, it could be a lot of things.
      Best approach is to lower your weight until the pain diminishes and gradually build it up in a pain-free manner.
