California Rules of Professional Conduct, Rules 1.4 and 1.4.1: Client Communication

To foster a strong relationship with their client, a lawyer must maintain effective communication. Rules 1.4 and 1.4.1. of the CA Rules of Professional Conduct establish attorneys’ duties in communicating with their clients and enable the State Bar of California to prosecute violations of these rules to protect the public.
