No, that family is just smart.. They don't want people robbing their house or coming over to beg for cash...
Why would you stay in a hideous suburb when you have all that money? If I won even a few hundred thousand, I would hightail it out of my small home for something grander.
Dang, they just seem extremely wise and smart by hiring people to guide them through money managing, moving away, not exposing their win, etc. Good for them!!
And then Inside Edition spilled the beans, releasing their names. Wtf??!!!
@@travelnomad2128trust me they definitely changed their names ,seems like the mom or dad share the same mind as me lol I would’ve done this exact thing move secretly and changed my name I bet they did aswell
“Here’s their names, location, house and financial situation. It’s a wonder they would move!” - the reason they’re moving
WTF Why the HELL would they tell their names. So disrespectful and disgusting. They obviously kept it a secret for a reason
kazidal Blam that’s what I was thinking.. and their location.. they can easily be found just based off those two things I’m sure
In California your name goes public if you win, like it or not, unfortunetly
The reason you can't be anonymous is to prevent fraud. For example, if you buy tickets with others who chip in, you then hide the fact you won from others and claim all the money. It's to prevent that. Also it is to prevent people who owes debt from skipping payment if they won the lottery. Also to prevent spouses from divorcing their partner and then hide the fact they won the lottery. That's why most states pass law that you have to reveal your identity when you win.
the smartest lottery ticket winners in my book.
uMADden The smartest was a couole who hired a law firm to get the money on their behalf.
Jason Bourne wondering how much would the law firm get from them of advising
That's true. I knew some people who won a large amount and they lived in fear of people trying to sue them or rob them. They ended up moving away from their family home.
The winners should sue inside edition. An double the money for releasing their names
@@BKlungness Perhaps but how many would actually take the time to do it? It didn't have to be mentioned on the show.
@@Coollovelee I'm not advocating that it's the right thing to do. I personally think it's stupid and actually dangerous. But it's not illegal
They silent for a reason they don't want thousands of people know they won that make them a target I can see alot of thing that can go wrong
why reveal them, let them live in peace and enjoy their money.
its to let ppl know that real ppl actually win the lottery and they just dont collect the money
I’ve lost all respect for inside edition for outing these people. What a disgrace
THE MEDIA HAS A LONG HISTORY OF OUTING PEOPLE. GOOGLE OLIVER SIPPLE, RICHARD JEWELL, ROBERT WAYNE O'FERRELL.
I’m gone you’d never see me again
Why in the world would you hang out in a 7-11 store celebrating somebody else winning the lottery?
Wonder how many of them got a five finger discount without the store owner or manager knowing until they did an inventory check.
Lmao that's how it goes when a store sells a big jackpot winning ticket.. stupid mofuckers thinking they will win too just because the ticket was sold st the same spot.lol
I have a friend who’s aunt won the lottery and started getting threats of child abduction upon her children if she didn’t give away any of the money. Ended up having to move. Winners should ALWAYS remain anonymous...
Nickolette Spicer you can’t remain anonymous in California. Part of the deal is releasing your names. If you don’t abide by that then you don’t get the money.
Tiffani Danielle That’s brutal. I heard you give up 50% of your winnings to taxes too. 0% here in Canada
@@AQSWDEFRTHYJUKILO naw I won 20gs on 2 2$ scratch off and only ended up with 15690
This is what gets me about the lottery, is that you can't be anonymous about it. In which it can be a real burden to win given when people find out you did, they go absolutely crazy because they know you have a lot of money. I do not blame them at all for doing it the way they did. No one deserves to be threatened, spammed with letters, or be burdened by random strangers hounding them for money. I hope they've been able to live quietly.
Even filming their old house will give away their identity apart from already mentioning their names. Smh 🤦♀️ Putting them in danger
I don’t blame them at all. Hope all goes well for them. Inside Edition should be ashamed of themselves for putting them on blast like that. Anything for a story right
Half of lottery winners end up broke, the other half end up dead. Staying silent and staying hidden is the best thing you can do.
JVIPER88
The winners who end up broke usually take the lump sum payment. If you take the 30 year installments, you get more money and it's like a job with regular payments.
The report says they got financial advisors so they're already smart enough to do that AND ghost out. I think they'll be fine. Let's hope.
Why do people think that they have a right to what is yours? If you weren't there for my bad times then I don't want you there for my good times.
Why y’all saying their names? That’s why they went ghost cause something could happen to them smh
Why would Inside Edition give out the names and that they have a child?? I would be mad af.
@Ballen Star--It's part of the Calif. rules, when they claim the prize. Would it be better if they said, "Nothing to see here, please move along"? Look what happened to the George Floyd case when Minneapolis hid the Bodycam footage.
@@ronmcmartin4513 then let someone look it up themselves. Why would inside edition release it? Dumb as hell
@@ronmcmartin4513 This is different. These "rules" killed a lot of people the moment they were put to paper. It'd be nice if you didn't have to change your name after winning the lottery. But I guess full exposure helps prevent corruption from scooping up winnings behind the curtain.
I don’t understand why it should be public information.
Inside edition had no business doing this story on people that wanted their privacy.
Inside edition never should have released their names.
It’s shocking how in America they can just release idenities and names on national TV like that..
In order to get the money you have to relinquish your privacy. It's legal.
@What kak is this?? It's for marketing purposes. Those happy smiling faces in front of that big check is advertising to sell more tickets.
@@theTruthSeekerishere in some states but since Caalifornia is like that it kinds sucks
Great job saying their names.
You just put them, their family and kids in danger.
I guarantee you that’s not their name anymore. With that kind of money you could easily disappear to some remote country until it’s safe to come home
@@griselgriselda2901 it still doesn't matter lmao. US is not a safe country dumb@ss
God Bless the Couple of the winning lottery ticket I hope they spend it wisely and in good faith.
They seem like extremely wise people to be keeping to themselves and figuring out their best path to this new fortune
They were smart. When I win, I'll "mysteriously" disappear too.
You would never be married would it be you or the money? You would end up in a box. Curse of the lottery.
Smart People. IMO every state should give lottery winners the right to remain anonymous
Some do, you form a trust and the trust collects the money. In Colorado that is how it works.
The law requires that a name be revealed. The reason being so there is no fraud or cover-up of any kind.
Irene A. the law part I understand, but does the whole world have to know?
Kevin Riley true very smart, they would of been in danger if they didn't make those smart decisions.
Kevin Riley Sounds like they will be the first lottery winners that wont go broke in ten years.
No privacy at all! This is disgusting.
WTH? Did you guys just dox this family? Giving their full names, when they have been trying to stay under the radar for their personal safety.
Good for them for going ghost. Nothing like have fake friends and even faker relatives coming out of the woodwork to moment they know you won.
What would be worst is having strangers coming to your house about some business plan they have and they just need some seed money to get it started.
They ghosted better than casper! I would be on a remote ass Island growing a beard and I'm a woman.
I would not go on TV or make it public knowledge if I won.
Tortoise010 . I would setup a trust, hire a lawyer, cpa, financial accountant.
A few states allow people to remain anonymous. Unfortunately most don't.
I would always remain anonymous of I won a large sum of money.
Does anyone else feel like the 3rd car garage looks better towards the outside of the house?
You know the reason why? Because of you journalists. Its clear they want privacy but still you disclosed their names and some info.
the state is required to release the lottery winners name and town. The media just picked up on the story that they claimed the money and then suddenly moved... because it was notable. Hell, I'd move too. They haven't been able to do anything to prevent releasing winners' names for any state lottery, it has to do with being up front about there being actual winners etc... but they should allow pseudonyms, if you ask me, to prevent the mobbing from charities etc.
They actually did the most smart thing ever. They probably got a new house somewhere first and then went to claim the money so they were already gone anyway.
Donna XX.
Wrong, Colorado and other states have an ‘anonymous’ option in claiming lottery winnings.
Game Changer but California does not, and these were winners from California
I'll never win the lottery, but, if I did I would tell nobody. These people were smart, but, the news still had to say their names on TV... Jerks.
Earthling1984 yup I would do the same. I would keep it to myself . I would sue the news also
After they made it very clear they didn't want any fuss, Inside Edition flat-out RELEASES their names all for a story. That's messed-up.
The way those people responded in writing suggests that they’re going to help people with the money which is a great thing.
when i won 9 bucks from the mega millions i kept that a secret for 10 years.
I’m sure they’ve changed their names by now
Who the hell gives their kids a Sexual Transmitted Dissease as a surrname?
It’s ridiculous that you can’t choose to remain anonymous in some US states
THAT is EXACTLY how I would handle the same situation. Could not have done it any better, I would change no part of their plan.
Virtually limitless resources AND zero attention, no social media, no one coming out the wood work to ask for hand outs, no one even knows how to contact you. Team of advisors to help teach you how to manage extreme wealth.
Bravo, they finessed that perfectly.
That family has common sense, I can see why they would do such a thing so that they can have a normal life like everyone else and not worry about people begging for cash.
I told my entire family (jokingly) if I disappear without a trace one day you'll know I won the lottery. I would absolutely take the money and run far, far away from everyone I ever knew.
I don't blame them😂😂 That was smart, just disappear like a fart in the wind.
That couple has some good sense. Shame on the news for releasing their names. If it's public, then let people find their names on their own, not y'all blast them!
Inside Edition needs to be sued for disclosing personal data to the public and mishandling it.
If I won that kind of money, I wouldn't want to tell the whole world either, if you win you shouldn't have to feel pressured to expose yourself and brag about it
They did the right thing And then the Dam news mentions there names
right dumbass news puts them on blast shows everyone where there home is to set them up
Darrell next video (update: couple who won 582.8m moves to canada) (address in description)
Angel Carrillo, New Update!: They've changed their last names, Here's the new one!
exactly what i would do if I won, keep quiet and move somewhere remote.
If you win the lottery, expect anyone and everyone you've ever met to instantly become your best friend.
Why would you release their names... That's just inconsiderate. They don't want to be known, they don't want the attention, no matter how bad you want to give it to them, their privacy supercedes your right to entertainment. They want to be left alone, so give them their damn privacy.
California law requires the lottery to release their names. The lottery had no choice.
***** Yeah, but then the News stations broadcast it over and over for everyone to see. No morals in media, never has been, never will be.
It's a law here in Arizona, you remain anonymous for 90 days and then they release your name out to the public. If you refuse, they will not give you the money. I know, it's ridiculous...
Imagine people found out you won the lottery, you would be expected to pay for everyone’s meal when you go out and asked for money until the end of time
Of course they moved. There would be a line outside their home asking for money. There’s nothing ‘mysterious’ about it.
And this is one of the reasons why they went ghost 🤦🏻♂️ knowing y’all would put them on CZcams
Its not mysterious they moved. It’s common sense. No one wants to be robbed
And Inside Edition is all in front of their house and talking to neighbors. Yeah real mysterious why the moved
I would be sure to *never* have my identity revealed if I ever won.
I'd want to remain anonymous in that crime ridden cesspool state.
Clever couple
not at all. they'll never escape it and they freaking announced their names after clearly stating they want to be discreet.
all states in America demand your pictures and name shown even if you will 10 grand. a few states allow you to PAY lottery to keep your name and pictures hidden.
some folks have been murdered who have won a decent deck of cash.
They changed their name,,, money talks,,, and BS walks!! You can do anything when you have that kind of money.
+Betty Coffey WRONG. 7 states grant anonymity without creating a trust and about 10 allow you to have anonymity so long as you create a trust.
+Shakib Hussain A trust, but it depends on the state. California for example will release your name and certain other information regardless of what you do. Check with your state lottery website.
+Betty Coffey Well now you know, don't say that nonsense ever again.
why do ya think this is okay ? do you guys understand how much danger you actually put these people in ?
I guess they told their names to avoid fraud or something like that? Idk someone said about it in the comments
Dude was so made about losing the lottery that he exposed the names
This is the first time I have heard about a winner being responsible with their winnings. All I've seen or heard in the past was how quickly a winner would lose it all or even get killed over it. Good for them.
Why give there names. they wanted to be anonymous for a reason.
This is where it should be required to keep winner’s identities anonymous for security and safety reasons.
Like some states in the U.S. and countries that allow that option. If media outlets expose people who remained anonymous there should be consequences for that.
I would disappear too before the vultures come looking to ask for my winnings.
“Good stewards of these new resources”, that’s awesome to hear the couple say that!
Yeah that's a great idea news coverage, tell everyone their name, where they live and that they have kids, well done for keeping them safe

Hahaha it's like the news is telling people if you want a piece of the pie this the info we got about them and you could use it to your advantage.
I hate the news. THEY MOVED FOR A REASON AND YOU WENT ON TV AND SAID THERE NAMES?!?!
Absolutely genius. Screw all the folks trying to give them unwanted attention.
Well damn they 're tired of being harrassed by people.
Very smart of them
of course ,like Ponzi make money ,more fun each week ,for millions dreamer to pray even in churches .
You're absolutely right. Smart thing was get rid of facebook and twitter. I deactivated mine and no more linkedin. Facebook takes up too much on every day life. Sad that more people on social media. You never know who is watching. this family was smart.
Oh hell yeah. I made a plan just in case I was a lucky winner of that jackpot. New just what I was gonna do. I was gonna set my myself and another family member out of our house and take all the directly important items with us. We'd do this at the start of the month when I'd collect the money because some times it takes time to actually use it. Some one once said 3 to 15 days depending. We would stay in our location and ask the lottery people to give us some time before letting out who won for security factors, hopefully they would be kind enough to do so. If not then I'd go home at night to collect all important items. Then in the following days have most of the other items removed for donation of trash. My other relative would never be known to the public and be kept in hiding just in case. I on the other hand would also be in hiding but would come out to have my house gutted and completely refurbished. Including excellent security. I would move back in after about 3 to 6 month. By this time the shock would have calmed. If anything happened with in that year enough to bother me to much, I'd look for a new place and put my other house up for rent.
***** I play Powerball and Mega Millions only when the after tax annuity is over 1.5 million. I've done the math and found that I can get things done well with that.
You remember that Billion dollar lotto. I near won the whole thing. But all my numbers were off by one and the next drawing three people won. I was so upset, but I called it that three people were gonna win.
Nobody knew who they were untill INSIDE EDITION told the whole world
J Mac It’s possible. Anyone can use FOIA to find out information like that. That’s why they should have structured it in a trust within a trust shielded by an LLC with their attorney as the agent.
Man I hope they’re good people since they’re so smart. May they be safe
I always told my family what we were doing if we ever hit the mega millions / powerball jackpots, and they agree. That is basically make the plan to move before the ticket is cashed. Because when we leave to cash that ticket in, that is the last time we step foot in our house.
You'd be getting all sorts of friends you didn't know you had once your identity becomes public.
''Mysteriously'' bruh they got the hell outta there, when you get things nice people get mad and salty basically puts a target on your back, very smart people.
A. Banana I believe in some states you can pay extra money in taxes to have your identity safe from the public. Don't quote me on that though. But to me it's almost like extortion. They know a target will be on the winners' back. I've seen news stories of people getting killed for less money than that. Nobody would ever know if I won the lottery. Not even my family.
Even odds they moved to Texas. Good standard of living and much lower cost of living. And there's been a wave of people moving from California to Texas...for varying reasons.
I would not even let my family know.
@@darkvioletskull and amount, too. If it's over 250k, you might have to...

Wow someone who won the lottery with brains. This couple will go far. Good for them!

That's why I don't like news reporters. They will put you into harms way for a story.
I think we all agree , that this is one smart couple.
Pretty sure I could make good and honest money by starting a "Lotto Winners Protection Agency". Good for these folks, they figured it out on their own and will probably still have money in the bank a year from now unlike so many other 'winners'.
Finally winners who really dissapear from the public. All forms of social media could make them vulnerable to scams.
This is so smart as a lottery winner. Tell no one! Immediately get rid of all social media and photos, get financial lawyers and advisors involved. Quit your job but tell them it’s a family situation or something. Change your phone number and maybe even your legal name
I'm disliking this video, Inside Edition sucks for covering this story and putting them in danger smh😤👎
Amanda Joe lol there just covering news. lol I can guarantee 50 other news channels did the same thing they did.
"A young couple, with children..." well dang, so much for privacy and keeping the kids safe, smh!
The lottery authority should allow winners to remain anonymous. Their names should never be public.
That’s actually how it is in some states. Not all states make the winners come forward like California.
Media showed up showing their house and address, share their first and last names, city, amount they won.... gee, I wonder why they went away???
I would have done exactly the same thing. Imagine all the random people coming out of the wood work asking for money. That one cousin you never met will be calling you up asking for a hand out.
And why in a blue hell did you have to tell there name!!!
By law all winners' names must be releaded. Look up the rules on the lottery site. This is done so no fraud is being committed. This is the law for many contests, not just the lottery.
It depends on the state. California unfortunately, is one that discloses. ; /
Smart people...I would do the same thing too.
They smart. They didn't let the IRS show up
Smart, very smart. These may be the only people who don't go broke afterwards.
So they moved, deleted their social media accounts, won't show their faces and inside edition goes on national television and shows their home, gives their names, and tells how long it took for them to claim their prize?! I would be livid.
Camiel08Erin11 youre exactly right it doesnt make sense because the lottery often keeps these prizes for themselves saying someone won and no one questions it. Ive seen it
Imagine winning 500mil 👁👄👁
You'd never have to work a day in your life
Bruh they literally didn’t want to be talked about yet inside edition makes a whole video about them with THEIR NAME
Wow that was a dick move making a whole news segment with their last names in there when they clearly didn't want people to know they won and for good reason!
Lord Lew they will probably legally change their last name.. if they already haven't.. they seem like very intelligent people.. first things you should probably do is see a lawyer, a tax professional and an investment advisor.. could be what they were doing for 6 months
Yeah, unlike others who win the lottery give up their jobs and decide to buy buy buy until they run out.
Sure, I'm not saying no to a free car and lingerie that my boyfriend can see me in. It's your money not mine if you won the Powerball. I'm just saying if I won the lottery the first thing I would do was probably save the majority of it so interest can accumulate.
It doesn't matter those names don't exist anymore for their safety of course.
accumulate? i don't know.... 500 mill? that is load of money. Well i guess you could invest for your great grand kids to be millionaires also.
