pretty bad luck for the pilot that it seems like he didn't hear at least three separate requests to confirm flight deck secure forcing atc to at least consider that the 7600 code was not an accident. I reckon he was pretty surprised when he landed and called that phone number. I assume he argued that he told them that it was a broken radio code intent squawk but probably still in some trouble for that

I hate 7500 and 7600. They always confuse me. I try to remind myself as the "6" in the 7600 looks like a binocular (too bad it's not at 8 lol) so I think of it as the tower is looking at me with binoculars to guide me into the airport. lol

I was taught the phrase “hi jack( 7500 hijack), I can’t talk right now (7600 comm failure), it’s an emergency (7700 emergency)”. Of course you wouldn’t use the words within the () brackets but it is a simple phrase that has stuck with me.
