To determine button numbers run
$ sudo apt-get install jstest
$ jstest /dev/input/js0
if you have a second with a different layout use
$ jstest /dev/input/js1
While in a MAME game, use TAB on a keyboard to enter the MAME GUI to edit the controls.
NeoGeo files to edit are
/opt/retropie/configs/fba/fba2x.cfg
use the button numbers from the jstest as the button values
/opt/retropie/configs/neogeo/retroarch.cfg
add this code above where it says #include, using your button numbers from jstest.
input_player1_b_btn = "1"
input_player1_y_btn = "0"
input_player1_a_btn = "2"
input_player1_x_btn = "3"
input_player1_l_btn = "5"
input_player1_r_btn = "7"
input_player2_b_btn = "1"
input_player2_y_btn = "0"
input_player2_a_btn = "2"
input_player2_x_btn = "3"
input_player2_l_btn = "5"
input_player2_r_btn = "7"
Lagging as been reported on some of the MAME games, if this is a problem, I detailed how to overclock your pi3 for N64 optimi - Jak na to + styl
Will be subscribing just because of this vid
These are great! I've got the white/blue set. I know that they're ripoffs, but they do feel pretty much the same as a Sanwa stick and Semitsu buttons.
Me too! My set also came with a yellow "washer" in addition to the white (for smaller) and black washers for buttons. Do you know what the yellow one is meant for?
I bought the player one and two and coun buttons from easy get and tried them kn the test file that u wrote in your description. It read the buttons but when i tab in a game to try and edit retroarch. It doesnt read the player one and two and coin buttons as inputs. Any idea as to why.
I think when toy set it up you should set them as start and select and that will get them working.
If not you'll have to go into the emulator button settings and make sure the coin buttons are assigned correctly.
So, Its been 3 years now... how's the joystick? Does it still work?
Yep! No issues this far
Hi on the pinball games on my system on retro pi my joystick is left flipper and x is right flipper. I have left and right flipper buttons on my cabinet how do I change it to them please could you do a video for it.
Thanks
You can recalibrate them either in the config file for the game by setting the flipper to a specific button number or you can just re-specify by changing your controller layout in the menu. It’s been a really long time and I don’t have the same setup anymore....
@@muktukfaty hi thanks I'll try it.
Thank you for sharing! I just purchased an EasyGet set like yours. My set came with the 2 smaller white washers and the 8 black washers. However, it also came with ONE yellow washer and I cannot figure where this goes. Do you have any idea? Appreciate any insight!
Is it a different size than the white and the black ones?
@@muktukfaty Hey thanks for the reply! I figured it out after some research. It's a octagonal restrictor gate for the joystick. :)
@@DiVersion86 interesting.... I don’t know that mine had that. Haven’t looked at it in quite a while
@@DiVersion86 Thanks! Couldn't figure it out. Of course now I can't figure out how to use it as a restrictor.
@@CapnCavMan Simply install it on the bottom and it's extra ridges inside give it the "restriction" aka. unable to move 8-direction, only 4.
Do you know of a way to wire it up so that it only lights when pressed?
No, these are all on when power is applied.
@@muktukfaty this can easily be changed by switching the position of the yellow and black wires. In doing so, the buttons will only light up when pressed.
are there wire extensions available for this arcade kit
Jan Chapman wire extensions for the the button wires? I have no idea. The boards themselves use a Usb-B so you could easily make the wire from the board to the pi longer.
hey mate my TAB button don't seem to be working cant get into the gui
I have the same issue. Did you ever find a solution? Many thanks.
Does the leds go off when you turn off raspberry pi?
tinoushgtr I don't think so. To turn it off you would need to disconnect the usb
in my last build i used one of pi usb's to power a fan for taking hot air out. it was shoting down when i powered the pi down. pi usb has no power when is off? test it if you get the time and let me know.
then yeah, it should. I haven't had it out recently.... been playing on the switch lol
I got easyget kit and retropie does not detect can you help
Kilo Kay yeah, what have you tried?
Did you get it working?
This is exactly the same kit i got.
I have these issues running retroarch version 1.6.7 and mame.
Using 2 player setup (ie, using two controller boards via USB and it configuring both controllers to be the same..
Retroarch doesn't see my buttons to confirm and back out, but sees the joysticks. I'm not able to use wireless keyboard to register a response.. Would using a USB non wireless keyboard help instead?
Can you help me with configuring retroarch or is it very much the same as this.
Also I can edit this through f3 file manager in android.
its been a long while since i did this, but to the best of my memory, you should do the following:
First plug one kit in and do the retropi controler configuration from the retropi menu. once the buttons are mapped for one, unplug it and make sure that the button map is the same for the second one.
Then exit emulation station and go to the terminal. use sudo nano in the retroarch conf to manually edit the retroarch config file to assign js0 to player 1 and js1 to player 2.

Alibaba also have these too.
Just search for sanwa joystick kits.
Sellers have 1p and 2p packs available and take about a week/2 weeks (depending on mail service out of China) to arrive.
Do you need a computer built this arcade
You'll need a computer to get the raspberry pi setup unless you buy a preloaded "NOOBS" card for it. One the pi is up and running raspbian you won't need a computer
I just wanna play some street fighter
To build a arcade you need a lot more than a PC and it won't be cheap.
@@isaaclikesturtles to play you need just a pi, a screen, and a controller. If you want a cabinet that's a lot more work
U only need a comp 2 setup your retropie os 2 a micro sd card but once that's done all u need is the pi setup and and screen that has a hdmi input
Um... Um... uh... uh....
