Excellent Video. I have the Arcade Coin Door With single Coin Mech from X-Arcade. two quick notes it only works with US Quarters and the plug is used to illuminate the reject button. it is not needed to register the coin credits. Note You need something inside you cabinet to catch your coins. I recommend you use the splitter connection cable otherwise you are going to need a lot of quarters or need to constantly retrieve your coins from the cabinet. You arcade will double as piggy bank.
I am thinking about getting a streetfighter fame and putting it in a high traffic bar.. can you set it to where it is 50c per play?? Can you really charge money or is it only for show?? Donyou think you could wire this to charge by card?

Sweet!! I didnt realize the power source for the coin selector's lamps would be a wall outlet plug. I thought it would be a simple 5v wires. Plug directly to the pi for power.

I'm building one into a Bartop arcade machine for a friend so her kids can play on it but also save money for a holiday next year. That way they will be saving money for themselves without even realising, but also they will probably not spend as much time playing games on it when they are having to pay for each game.
Very cool idea, kids want Lollies and Toys, i don't see her paying much for retro gaming, Adults = give em beer and sell em anything LoL

i use the single version in a mini Tron i built. they work great. but in mine, i added a microswitch so when you push in the coin return, it also adds a credit.

*NOTE* I got a generic Amazon coin acceptor (model # ch-296) and apparently those kinds of coin acceptors send a low constant pulse signal to the USB encoder making it think I'm constantly putting a coin in. I ordered this double slot coin door from X-arcade so I'm hoping this works because I have this same setup

You can buy a door for the multicoin accepter you showed in at the start of the video. They come pre cut out ready for use. You can get them from arcadeworld.
I actually saw that last night they even sell double doors. I might pick that up for the Arcade1UP
Any Door can be a Door to Match your Cab, and Coin Acceptor's can be bought separately, or twin or light-up, the choice is your's,
When i built a Mame Cabinet many years ago, not much in the way of choice, as price's where high, You guy's today are so lucky, i would be making these things by the Dozen

I see this version use only quarter dollar, I have to change the coin mech if I want something else so is cool. door but if. I have to buy extra the coin mech is useless.. I need something else, the door is cool. and the video is nice thank you

Great video! 1 question: Can you disable the option of going in the emulation controller menu? Because now it seems like anyone can just hit the 2-button combination and change the "select" button to whatever they want. I hope my question is clear.

cool so i can also install a Sacoa RFID arcade reader to the Arcade1up machine in combination with Retropie.. i work for an redemption center, which have those devices laying around.. it would be cool to charge people a little bit of money (25cnt) just to play on the Arcade1up :)

I purchased the same one. Works great only thing that sucked is that the power supply went out first day. The X arcade people were good about getting it taken care of quickly.
I just need a kill switch so I can charge my friends lol.

Thinking about putting two cabinets into two local bars. I havenât installed any money mechs yet but I was thinking that I should just take bills being as it isnât 92 anymore. Iâll cut the bars a small cut from weekly payment and see how it goes.
As an electronics engineer I do not recommend twisting any cables together it is always best to soldering the wires together and heat shrinking them up

Awesome vid!!! So easy to follow instructions!!! Is it possible to toggle between free play and pay to play??? Just when the boys come over I can have quarters ready for that nostalgic feel but when the kids play it's free play???
Is there any way to reprogram the coin reader for other types of coins or even custom tokens? Because if I ever get a chance to own my own arcade machine I would want custom tokens instead of just normal coins.
I know some arcades use tokens instead of real coins so itâs definitely possible, Iâm just not sure if you would need to like custom order coin readers that recognize tokens or if you can just use any normal ones.
So I may be a little confused. Can I make it so you can only use the coin acceptor on arcade games, but select button on non-arcade games?
Just to recap. I already have a arcade build finished with a coin and select button wired and working. Now I want to add the coin mech, but I want to still be able to use the coin button if I don't feel like using the quarters. So all I have to do is tap off the working coin button to run the coin mech correct? Then both will be working at the same time giving me the option to use both, right?

great video!! can you show us how you actually mounted the coin door to the arcade? Iâm guessing the front kick panel needs to be reinforced with cross bars of some sort (unless itâs solid already) thanks!
You should show if you put in anything other than a quarter. Does it reject it?
I've always been fascinated with arcade games, and I always dreamed of having my own private arcade cabinet as a piggy bank, one that is entertaining and does not have to be broken with a hammer in order to acces the money I save, lol. Seriously, and yes, it adds more authenticity to the experience. I am finally going to build my table top minicade, already had 2 solid japanese joysticks through AliExpress that were gathering dust, recently ordered 2 Sinden guns that should arrive in a few weeks and a Botacera pendrive with version 37 that should have those guns working right out of the box. Judging from your video, this coin acceptor would work exactly the same with Botacera wouldn't it? Same wiring and same configuration steps no? A Botacera enabled piggy bank, isn't that any kid's dream? I'll buy one of those coin acceptors, could anyone confirm they work with Batocera the same way?
so how does one use both select button and a coin slot button? like a coin button on the front aswell as the coin slot so you can choose to use either?

Okay so ETA I have a coin op door from recroommasters I purchased a whole cabinet and using xarcade tank stick i have the coin acceptor with mine, but my question is can you utilized both the coin operated select and a button at the same time?
Yes you can. I added a section in the video showing how to do so. Just wire it to the button so essentially you have 2 buttons âthe coin switch and the select buttonâ wired to the same spot on the encoder

Have a question. The clicker that the coin hits before it falls out of the bottom of the coin mechanism doesn't add credits when the coin goes thru. Even when I take my finger and click the clicker it makes no noise for credits. What could be the issue?

Hey man, I'm trying to figure out how to sub out a button on my x-arcade stick to the coin acceptor (cheap one on Amazon). Where can I get the 'quick connects' for the thin wires that come with the coin acceptor so I can simply disconnect the micro switch from the button on the arcade stick and insert it into the coin connector without having to solder or cut any of the wires? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Great video! One question however. I assume by adding the coin acceptor device, and mapping the select button to the coin input, the game automatically knows to display "insert coin"? Obviously without the coin acceptor device, there isn't a "insert coin" display, so I assume retropie automatically knows that the coin door is present?
Not really, the idea is these versions of these games were built in a way that only allow player control if the "credit input" is pressed, which is hidden behind the coin mechanism - it's essentially a big weird button wired to the board that can only be pressed with the correct coin insert.
If you emulate any of these games without the coin mechanism they'll still flash "insert coin" but the program probably has the "credit" input mapped to something like the Enter key or the left trigger on a controller.
How do I wire this with a 3 pin encoder when I tried it it didnât work but worked on my 2 pin just fine

You could use a seperate diy counter circuit connecting to the select button, similar to RAM to hold the memory. And You could have a switch/button to activate the circuits output. Although it wouldn't be integrated with the software and would essentially double your credits, so if you put lets say five credits in and you use up 1-5 credits and switch to a new game you still have five unused credits.

Is there a way to wire this up on one of the quick connect USB boards that have 3 wire connectors (ie led lit buttons) ? I can't figure out adding the coin door to this style board if possible... it does have a section of 2 pin connections, but they aren't the select button. And couldn't get it to recognize. Or do I need to scrap led buttons and go back to standard 2 pin encoder board? Thanks! Need genuis help!
I need help i got a coin acceptor used and the push to eject latches are missing so the push to eject button dorsnt work, how can i solve this? Ive tried ebay and cant figure out what to search. A coin eject push latch doesnt appear
