My uncle's ex wife was like this, and I felt so bad for her. That woman tried every kind of Deodorant, perfume, and body wash you could imagine. Yet within literal minutes of her exiting the shower she would immediately smell like fish. It's so heartbreaking because people automatically assumed she was just dirty.
this is bacterial vagnosis, sometimes it has to be treated a couple times before it goes away, very easy to get rid of, don't throw the girl out lol

I’ve never experienced it but it sounds awful. People thinking you’re dirty or unhygienic sounds really miserable. I feel true empathy for that. I can’t imagine how insecure it would make a person feel.

There are a decent % of people who have a real metabolic(non-obesity related) condition called TMAU. Dr Preti in Phila was a world class expert and researcher on TMAU. Yes, these sufferers(both sexes) can smell of fish, poop, feet, burnt rubber, cheese and bathing does nothing cause bathing is not the issue. Dietary changes in regards especially with Choline and Lecithin are major issues. The Monell Center in Phila continues Dr Preti's cutting edge work. They will send you a test free of charge and only charge a nominal fee to test for TMAU.
I was about to say most body odor is related to hormones and diet. Teenagers eat like savages and have crazy hormone changes so that's why their odor can be so bad.
@@Callimasrawr This is only related to diet in that people with this disease cannot breakdown trimethylamine which is found in certain foods (as previously stated, foods containing choline and lecithin). For some it is a genetic condition, for others it is unfortunately just something their body cannot do. So the diet and hormones them self are perfectly fine, the body just cannot process one chemical.
Teenagers (mostly pre-teens) have body odor issues not because of their diet, but because of puberty. Their hormones are kicked into high gear and they have yet to catch up with normal hygiene to take care of those issues. Many of those kids need to learn about daily showering and using good a antiperspirant and deodorant. Only some foods have been directly linked to body odor and some of those are sulfur rich foods, strong spices, anything that causes excess fluid loss like alcohol or caffeine.
@@alisaishere Drove me nuts as a tween into teen. I showered several times a day. I tried every anti odor product I thought might help. I stank. It drove me batty. FINALLY found a product that alas is no longer on the market but it really worked and the condition finally just stopped.
I used to work with someone with the condition. The way my boss was talking about her when she told us when she got hired was awful, (let alone her telling us at all) I can only imagine how mean people can be about it, even knowing the cause!
exactly, ken was talking about "Oh no one cares besides her its just a self-ego thing" and that's just not true. It shows how he thinks, and how he would expect others to think which is good... but the truth is so many people are mean, and so many people dont know they are speaking loudly! and so many people are just blunt. And it's only natural to feel the way people treat you... you will feel how you are treated. If you are treated like a normal guy you will feel normal. if you are treated like the dad guy you will feel like the dad guy. If you are treated like the weird smelly fat lady who smells like eggs.... you will FEEL that way. and it is really hard to fight that. We are social creatures we really will feel these negative attributes and take them to heart.
Having suffered with a few BV infections, I can’t imagine how horrible she must feel, especially before a diagnosis.
People are even less understanding about this SMH. Expecting internal organs to smell like a Cinnabon or something it's just ridiculous.
The first time I had a BV infection, I legitimately thought I was dying. I was TERRIFIED. I was so scared I went to the doctor and she said I caught it early. I cannot imagine how people live with this Fish odor disorder.

This is so sad 😢 The average human doesn’t even have to think about their smell, and when they do, a shower and deodorant is enough. It’s hard to imagine working so hard on your hygiene and still smelling bad. Glad she has found someone who loves her regardless.

People can “hope” for an enjoyable life and it’s nice when wishes come true. Life in general is a struggle and will throw challenges in the way when least expected. Even uber-wealthy people have problems, money just comes with it’s own type of difficulties.

Like the saying goes; “You’re as young as you feel and as old as you look.” There are 20-somethings who act/think more like seniors. Conversely I know some 70-somethings who are more mentally/physically active than people decades younger.
Wow . Not sure where I fit in here . I'm turning 57 this month . Can't believe I'm almost 60 . Still have a lot of energy . Outwork people half my age on the job .Still have all my teeth , and hair . Yet it's all gray now . I don't have a spare tire or pot belly either . Still play video games regularly . But on my days off , I simply want to relax and chill at home , vs. going out every weekend . Plus I quit drinking 25 years ago too . I try not to dwell about getting older . But life goes by quickly .
I’m sure it was a huge deal in school growing up. We all knew the smelly kid and usually it’s just ignored but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was tormented for it and it makes her feel like everyone cares more than they do now not just main character syndrome.

I knew a girl in jr high that people didn't like being around cause she had a problem with body odor. People would say stuff like she needs to shower and she smells so bad why isn't she taking care of her BO. When I'm reality even being that young at the time, i knew she probably couldn't control it. I was a good person towards her.
My sister was one of those. She was bullied relentlessly now, and still gets it from coworkers to this day. She's in her 30s; there is absolutely no excuse for adults to still be bullying like they're on the playground, but yet they still do. She's so super conscious of her own smell, showering three or four times a day, but it just doesn't really help. It's heartbreaking to watch her feeling so self conscious constantly. So thank you for being a good person to that girl. I'm sure she remembers you to this day.
1:31 the smell is usually not exactly like fish, but has a fish-like smell with other odors mixed in, but either way it is nasty and stomach turning and the sad thing is, these people have to live their lives like this.

3:00 the sweat can cause it, but with these permanent body odor syndromes, the smell comes from, yes, the sweat, but also the sweat glands themselves; and the bodys' natural scent glands, the person often stinks something awful even when they are very clean, and are not sweating.
Very often a person’s sweat smells like their dietary choices. Occasionally when I eat chili and work out & sweat I’ll think I smell the chili powder, even if I’ve showered.

I learned in my early twenties that Old Spice deodorant is superior to any "for women". So I've been using Wolf Thorn ever sense. Especially working in places that don't have good air conditioning.
Also most body sprays and perfumes and what not will 90% give me horrible migraines.
finally someone who knows wtf is up. i been using old spice since jr high (21 now), the original one. works WAY better than any womans deodorant ive ever tried. we needa put these girls on!!
Wolf Thorn has a sweet, slightly spiced but modest scent. I am disappointed that they don't have it as a body wash 🥺

One time I went on a super health kick and I started taking fish oil supplements every day for like 2 weeks. At the time I was with a dance company and we were getting ready for an international performance. After the first week of taking the supplement, I noticed a weird smell in one of our dance classes. I thought man, somebody stank!! The 2nd week I thought It was my dance partner. Then I realized it was me! Every time I would break a sweat from dancing, the fish oil smell would come out of my pores. I was mortified! I can only imagine what it’s like for her to have this condition her entire life. 😞

I get her pain I have always been told I stunk but no one ever believed I took showers and almost got fired from a few jobs because of it even though I had a doctor's note saying I had a condition but thankfully over time it has gotten better but it's still there.

That has to be humiliating and frustrating, especially given how hard she works to be clean. I've heard that eating lots of veggies and drinking green tea can help but I am not an expert at all, especially since this is from an actual medical condition. I hope there is something that can help her.
i knew a lady who had this disorder, she was incredibly clean, but no matter what she dis, she smelled like BO and fish, it is both disgusting and sad, i wish this could be treated and cured, this is a horrible thin to have to live with, especially when we have people who have the option, but CHOOSE to be lazy and gross, choose to not bathe and take care of themselves and respect other peoples gag reflexes and right to breathe without being made nauseous.
I hate to say it Ken, but with smell, it's a bit more than ego. I have a separate condition, less severe, and I've almost been fired from jobs repeatedly over it. People complain and the complaints cause you to have problems, sometimes severe problems.

People used to keep small bags of perfumes potpourri under their arms and along their belts. They have fragrance bags that she can add to her clothes.

When i went through my first puberty as a girl, I smelled horrible. The hormones wrecked me for years. Rotten onion smell. I'd change shirts between classes, reapply deodorant throughout the day. Nothing worked. It sucked.
Edit: Yes, I'm a transgender man. I do not place value in words spoken out of ill will. Ie, I had a beautiful day today minding my own business and appreciating my existence. In case anyone else reads this and has the same problem, bentonite clay helped me.
I don't know if it was stress related or what but I had to constantly put deodorant on and I felt like I smelled horrible. I saw someone mentioning doing a bentonite clay mask to detox their armpits. I didn't think it would work but I figured why not? Lol it was insane, like I immediately stopped smelling when I got sweaty. It was a game changer!
I never thought I was getting old when I was in my thirties. Even in my forties I felt young. You need to enjoy your life instead of complaining about how old you are. Real old age will come soon enough!!

I have to say a few things. 1. I think my hubby (not actually married-not falling for that again) has this condition. I also think her husband is nose blind to it because I always tell people (I assumed it was my “fetish”) I was drawn to my man and anyone else I dated by their smell. I never noticed until after several years together that he had an “onion” smell to him. It was only after I did his laundry I noticed it at all. 😅 so I think me and this guy are just “nose blind” to it because they were meant for us.
2. Sweetest couple and I hope she really doesn’t let it get to her because I can only imagine how hard that would be to deal with as a woman.

I've heard that it's harder to detect bad smells on people that you are chemically compatible with, and it can have a major effect on attraction. I knew a guy who I thought was very handsome and attractive until I actually talked to him and smelled his breath. It didn't smell bad in any way,like as if he didn't brush his teeth or whatever, instead it just smelled like naturally him (I don't know how else to describe it). For some reason it really turned me off. Or there's been times when I am very attracted to someone and realize that I love their natural smell. It's weird but I guess it makes sense.

Makes no difference and keeps your trauma private. Also just because you married into an unhealthy relationship the first time means nothing if you have grown and learned from your mistakes. Marriage isn’t a trap and I hope the both of you keep peace and harmony in your lives.
9:45 this is called nose blindness, your nose kindof ignores scents that have been a constant for a while (even just a few minutes) to focus on new and different smells, imagine this did not happenen, you'd smell yourself, the air in your room and everything around you intensely 24/7 as if you just walked into a bakery or a public toilet

I take vitamin D daily (prescribed)
I smelled like this when i was going through puberty. I couldnt help it. I got bullied so bad for it. Even tho i grew out of that smell i am still paranoid about it. I get really anxious when anyone wants to eat me out.
Trimethylamine is the substance involved in TMAU and I've worked with it a few times in its pure form. It would be significantly more diluted in a human but the smell is horrendous. A bit like rotten fish, garbage, and a hint of ammonia. I could only imagine having to carry that around all day. Funny enough some carbon containing ammonia based compounds are actually used as a flavoring or perfume additive because some can smell nice in very small concentrations. It's a very interesting topic!

“Fish dude” is most likely acting for attention on social media. In the realm of “weird things people do for likes” he’s only about halfway up the scale of 1 - 10.
Be careful with taking that Vitamin D daily, since you said you are so you don't get toxicity. It depends though on how much you're taking but there is such a thing even for this as an overload. Look it up and if it seems to match the cut-off limits you might need to get your Vitamin D levels in your blood checked.
Certain vitamins are actually toxic in high doses, toxic enough to OD on.

Hospitals for some reason seem to want to keep the old monitors and computers for as long as possible. 2017 I was using one of those square HP compaqs from the early 2000s and the computer was just as old XD.
It's nice that this lady has found confidence and friends and love.

Hey Ken. I’m taking that weekly multivitamin too. It started in the summer and my levels were too low. May be the start of clinical hypothyroidism. I have all the symptoms already, gotta do blood work next week and figure out if that’s what has been making me so blah tired. Apparently they say a lot of Americans don’t get enough sun in the day, from working or just gaming or life. Two years ago I started my health journey and it’s changed my life. I went from looking like a forty year old smoker woman to a 20 looking 34 year old.😅
But I will say even taking it once a week doesn’t seem to help. I will probably need to take it every other day since I’m just still tired and zapped of energy. I need a daily one of that amount or something. 😅

I always related that onion smell to overweight people, mainly because the only people who smelled really bad in this way were overweight. But I didn't stop to think maybe if you had this condition, you were on easy street to depression and being a social recluse, causing you to stay indoors and comfort eat. So it wasn't being overweight causing the smell, but sometimes the smell caused people to be overweight. Incredibly sad and I hope there is a cure for this in the future! We don't realise how much we use our smell to operate in everyday life until it affects us negatively.

I honestly do feel really bad for people who do truly have this condition but we can’t assume every person that stinks has this disorder, there really are some people out there who just don’t take care of themselves for whatever reason.
Protein breaks down into amino acids, which the body converts into ammonia. The body then releases this ammonia through urine and sweat, which may produce an odor. Dehydration can also make the sweat smell like ammonia. This is because the body needs water to get rid of ammonia through sweat.
I remember my father used to tell me all the time as a teen to drink more water.
This was probably why. He would always tell me i smelled like cat pee when i would woke up a sweat.
Im extremely sensitive to smells ever since i had my son. Had a coworker at a job i just worked at that smelled horrible. His reason was literally not showering snd being sweaty from walking to work and unloading trucks. Made those days at work hell constantly gagging got to b painful. Constantly had customers complaining about it

There's something in my family where my mom and a couple of our cousins were born without a sense of smell and taste or just without a sense of smell. My mom can't smell anything, which was hilarious for a sneaky teenager, and my godmother/ cousin can't smell or taste anything. There's a few others and it's only women but they're hilarious when they are all together swapping stories of how they've used their missing senses to mess with people 😂

In regards to your rant about running out of patience for the younger and.....let's say less experienced people, I really really feel that. Our local high school, middle school and neighborhood elementary are all in a line down the same road and the older kids get out before elementary school does. So those of us picking up our little ones are surrounded by 12-18 year old people with seemingly more attitude than brain cells every day. By October we started grouping together to grumble and stare.

The tell tale ways i know the youtubers i grew up watching have grown up with me is when they go on random tangents but your still invested.
You two remind me of my dad (I’m 21). You’re definitely not old, I promise! My dad will hit me with a “I had kids late, I’m, I’m… Ancient now” and I’m like dude??? You semi-keep up with memes, have similar humor and tact as my friends, and are literally kind of in my friend group. Your body may age but damn your mind didn’t homie, and you still manage to be a good dad. And even as you do age, it’s more like a wine than a loaf of bread.

I work at a hospital in IL and 5 years ago it was probably 75% VGA cables. It's mostly DislayPort now. Hospitals have had a rough go lately. They don't get enough compensation from Medicare, so many have had to join up with other hospitals in the area to make Health Systems. Helps to share the cost of things but has become a bit of a clusterfuck with management.

12:07 as someone who works in a hospital on technology. dont get caught up looking at VGA plugs to the wall thinking that its old, sometimes its a issue with legacy data on modern equipment, that unit could be old, but is more likely state of the art and has legacy options
