    More than a decade later, I still find myself needing to go back to the basics because I didn't take the time to solidify a foundation.
    The message of this video is key.

      Even if you knew it well I still think you’d find reasons to go even deeper. The longer I dance the more I appreciate the simple moves of the dance and how much you can do with just one idea.

    Spot on! What I would add is your foundation should link with your body shape/type. The better you know your bodys strengths and weaknesses, the easier it is to select moves and combos to complement it.
    It sounds obvious and most people do this naturally, but thinking about it can help you select moves that really suit your own flow. For example I'm fairly tall and athletic built, so intricate threadwork and freeze stacking doesn't work too well for me! I based my style around more choppier footwork and explosive movement.
    Knowing your body's strengths can help you develop your combos/freestyle faster and maximise your practice time.

    Thank you so much for sharing. Finding your channel has been the best thing to learn about the artistic, technical and cultural nuances of breaking. Keep doing what you do, man. I have a whole lot of love and respect for you!

      OctoSlender glad to hear that! Just trying to share what I’ve learned and maybe it’ll inspire others to go out and discover more about this dance we all love. Remember my perspective is only one. There’s a lot more people to learn from and maybe what I know is wrong haha. I always encourage people to learn from everyone and take what works for you cause we’re all individuals.

    So good! You've become well versed at taking these abstract concepts, such as what foundation feels like, and expressing why it's important to develop it. You've created an invaluable resource for anyone looking to think about breaking beyond the surface of having moves and steps. Keep it up man.
    Side note there were some really nasty sets in there haha.

      BboyTK0 thanks man! Glad you feel that way. I’m honestly just trying to share what I know and fill a gap I see in the way stuff is being taught online or just in general really.
      As long as people are learning something from it I’m happy.

      @@RazzyF2 but the real Question Is how asian bboy are such fast learner of powermoves? Shaolin DNA?

    • @RazzyF2
      @RazzyF2  Před 6 měsíci

      @@loredanamassini9484 not sure exactly but I do know some teachers have the approach of teaching power moves first to their young students. They feel it’s easier for kids to get than more abstract things like “creativity” or musical “expression” or complex rhythms. That stuff in their opinion they can learn later but power is much harder to learn when you’re older.
      That might be why but I’m not actually sure.

    "The powermoves are easier" that was a good one. 😂 It is not a general thing, for some are easier the footwork and for some are easier the power. Peace 🙏

      Ray there’s always time to go back to the basics. But remember to have a good blend of drilling and putting them into practical use. Drilling is good for getting the mechanics of a movement but if you never put it into a real world situation it’s less likely the come out when you need it to.

    • @Rayquan47
      @Rayquan47 Před 4 lety

      @@RazzyF2 how do I put them into practical use? Like in a battle or a cypher? 🤔, I also tend to have this problem where I try to think about my next move instead of actually moving

    • @RazzyF2
      @RazzyF2  Před 4 lety +3

      Ray battle, cypher, or just doing full rounds during practice as if it were for a battle or for a cypher. It’s about preparing yourself mentally before you put yourself in these uncomfortable situations and then learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
      As for thinking about your moves before you do them. That’s fine in the beginning. It’s really natural if you haven’t done it enough to internalize that movement. When I started out I used to have three things that I would want to hit in a round. I would have a godown, some small combo in the middle, and something to finish off the round. Then I would freestyle around those points. I gave my rounds some structure to work with so that I wasn’t going in blind. I still do it to an extent but my mentality has changed. And so will yours as you mature and grow in the dance.
      Keep working at it. Reflect on what you did and where you can improve. Realize it’s a process and sometimes you don’t even realize how you improved until you look back a year later or something.
      Good luck and thanks for the comments!
