@@burnt_toast03 I think I understand the point of the video, I definitely have had that dream frequently over the years and have micro adventures in my area - the reasoning behind my comment is to escape the rat race you need money behind you (to travel to another country or to buy gear if you intend to stay in your own country, to travel unless you just intend to walk, to buy land or rent somewhere remote).
After 5 years of saving and planning to travel, finally this year I'm going for 3 years, starting with Vietnam.
In order to do this I had to pay £300 for a TEFL course so I can work while I'm out there, pay £500 for a plane ticket and while I'm away I'm paying £1500 for a storage fee for all my mum's belongings, who passed away last year and to pay for her/my cats food because they have dietary requirements that I don't expect their new owners could afford (£1500). I also will have to pay for accommodation and food while I'm out living the dream. While saving for this I of course was paying rent, bills and for food.
I just don't feel I've lacked the courage because I'm doing it now I finally have the money.
Please don't stop creating these beautiful videos, you manage to inspire others as well with them :) Thank you for sharing your creativity and thoughts

I live in an off grid bothy, up in the mountains on a Scottish Hebridean island. Whilst I may have solar for power and satellite wifi, this lifestyle brings me great peace and above all, connection with the natural world.

What country is it in? In the uk where I am from, even if you wanted to do that, you could not build a hut at the beach and live in it. The authorities would tear it down, and probably lock you up for "damage of public property" or something along those lines I would think!

The ability to withstand a certain amount of discomfort only diminishes as you age if you stop challenging yourself with discomfort, and stop accepting the reason for it. At 70, I still hike, camp and ride a motorbike, and don't intend stopping any time soon.

Stunning scenery! Did staying there actually make you feel calm in a way that it lasted after you came back home? And how do you deal with ambition; is it possible to live a calm life and do something meaningful with your talents at the same time?
It’s definitely easy to forget that sense of calmness once you get back to normal life, but I really try to take it with me as much as I can! A calm and quiet life absolutely has its challenges, and figuring out what to do with your ambitions is one of them. Still working on that :)

How privileged you are to say that. It's not a shame that life is easier because it gives you the choice to do what you want. The farther back in history you go, the fewer choices people had. What's missing is that you are no longer strongly compelled by outside forces to do something because your life is not threatened as often. It's like you're saying that having more freedom is bad because we don't know what to do with it, so it's better to get rid of it, but what we need to do is to learn what to do with it.
@mihaelam8339 You're completely right! However, its not uncommon for people to feel a sense of 'choice-paralysis' because most of us have the freedom and opportunity to do whatever we want. I like to lean on the phrase "limitation breeds creativity" when discussing this topic. I feel as though people are more likely to achieve great things and think critically when they feel stuck. In my experience, when feeling this way, it made me more ambitious and motivated to seek adventure.
