    Astrophotography is a fascinating hobby, but it can be very complicated as well. It requires a great deal of patience and a lot studying, including hundreds of hours of tutorials. For example, to simply start an imaging session requires a lot of planning, such as sky conditions as well as utilizing the planetary software to determine when the desired target will be in the optimum position to be photographed.
    After that, you must follow several steps to ensure that all the gear is working properly. Not an easy task and, which is very often made worse by encountering technical problems in the middle of the night - the frustration can be downright painful.
    But early this year (2023), the unthinkable happened! A new Telescope emerged on the scene. Well, it's more than a telescope, it is a Smart Telescope that is controlled by your Mobile Device using Artificial Intelligence. WOW!
    No small telescope will replace the quality of larger, more sophisticated telescopes and Astrophotography cameras. But the convenience of a small, very portable telescope that packs a punch with AI technology is a good trade off for anyone who is wanting to photograph the night sky from any location and without all the technological baggage required for larger, traditional telescopes. Dwarf 2 Smart Telescope allows you to photograph sky objects and unique sky events from anywhere in the world without carrying a ton of gear and the time involved to set it up.
    "DWARF II carries out a technology revolution in astrophotography. It comes in a compact size and an entry-level price, allowing everyone enjoy the beautiful details of starry stars and night sky.
    Through its automation, you can capture the Moon, Sun, Galaxies, Nebulae and other DSO effortlessly by yourself, and immerse in the mystery of amateur astronomy."
    "No need to set Polaris alignment. Just tap to shoot. Calibration, GOTO, star tracking, and stacking are all completed automatically.
    Additionally, you can make customized toning and capture your own astrophotography images."
    Clear Skies Astro Nerds!

    Hello Diana. My name is Ron, and I think I can explain about IR and UV Spectrum in astrophotography. This is the portion which the human eye is not sensitive to see at that wavelength. I am a retired optical engineer and it's quite fascinating to see these things hidden in those areas that can give us better details of clusters and nebula emissions. Dwarf has a built in IR filter that can pass and block out those transmissions for more interesting details.
    I'm using the Dwarf for daytime IR images.
    That is a class on its own. Its primarily use is in agricultural plant life studies. Green vegetation absorbs Infrared light and will appear red. In astronomy, it's the Ha transmission line in the spectrum graph. When used correctly, you will see a lot more then without any IR. Either way is fine. Just enjoy this pocket size telescope.
    Thanks,
    Ron & Maryellen 👥

      Hi Ron! Thanks for your time and great info! So, with Dwarf, is it just a filter to see the target better on the screen or when activated works as a HA filter? Diana

    Hi Diana, I was a little late to your online session but I'm actually reviewing it. As usual you give good infos and it is fun to watch. I already have Dwarf 2 since September and have been facing few issues but now it is working good.
    There are many people needing this kind of training to use their Dwarf 2.
    I take it out every night I can.
    So, nice job Diana with this online session. Have fun with your Dwarf 2!
    Clear nights for you my dear!
    🎉😊

      Hi! I had a good experience the first night but noticed a lot of little things too. I am going to start a series if short tutorials showing all those settings.
      For example, I had to restart the telescope to find another target. I want to find out why.
      Nice to see you my Dear! This little telescope is fun and I was impressed with the accuracy, it frames the target right on the middle, I also entered my coordinates. Thanks for your time and support! Diana ❤️

      @@yourfavoriteastronerd It is impressive how this little telescope can be precise. And for now the Binning is 2x2 but there is a Beta software that has the Binning choice of 1x1 or 2x2. I have the Beta now but have to wait for the clouds to go away to try it. ;-) It should improve in the quality of the image as it will give a 4k resolution instead of the actual HD, taking advantage of the full 8 megapixels capability of the camera chip. For the restart, it happened to me to a few times when I first used it. But the last time I used Dwarf 2, I was able to reopen the Feature menu (at right) then Auto Goto, choose another object and confirm. I just had to wait a few seconds before being able to do this after D2 finished stacking the pictures. I'll check it out the next time I use it to be sure, but it will be cloudy for some night at my place. I'll give you some news about it as soon as I can. Take care and have some clear nights Diana! 😎

      @@astronomy-NGC thank you so much for all the info! Yes, I would love to try the Beta version and see how much the images improve. I am impressed with the little telescope, especially on the precision and framing the target. I was like " uh"! I am also waiting for the clouds to go away, hopefully for the annular solar eclipse. I want to learn more about some the settings. I am glad to know that it can find another target without restarting it everytime . That's great news! Thank you so much for your time and info! Diana

      Thanks BichoBrothers! I think, it's a great solution for most of the people who can't have a complete setup. This little Dwarf is very effective and precise. The images are good , and for most of the people ( once again) it is more than enough! Easy to carry and the setup is very easy. My next session will be October 14th Solar Eclipse. Thanks for your comment!

      Hi James! I am glad you liked it. After the first night and trying, I found many settings that would improve the images. I used pretty much default settings. I am going to record many short videos of the settings and editing. I am planning for Oct 14th too, but it looks like its going to rain. Thanks for your comment! Diana ❤️

    My worries with those kind of telescopes is if something broke you'd have no way to fix it yourself.With a normal setup you can just swap out the failed components.

    Hi Diana, just come across your channel, really enjoyable. ive had my D2 since April having pre ordered in January and its been absolutely amazing. The only issue has been the UK weather 😂 I use the IR Pass for Nebula and Cut for Galaxies, Star Clusters etc. When imaging Luna and Solar try staying in Photo mode, I only use Astro for DSO's. There is a completely new software update coming shortly its currently in Beta testing which you might find very interesting lots of changes inc 1-1 binning and 500+ targets in the catalogue. I only do Astro Darks every so often depending on outside temperature to cut down on hot pixels etc, and do Darks (when manually processing eg Siril) the stacked images.

      Hi Paul! Wow, taking lots of notes here! The Infra Red is actually on the target or just like an IR for the screen? I am hoping to photograph today the annular eclipse but its cloudy and it's supposed to clear some right at the eclipse time. I can't wait for the Beta version and would like to do better the Moon. Do you take just photos of the moon and stack them? Thanks for your time and info! Diana

    • @paullewis7818
      @paullewis7818 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@yourfavoriteastronerd The IR Pass is the Red you can see on the screen Diane, however, it works well on the finished results for Nebula something to do with the colours it enhances ( not good at the tekkie stuff 😂) but not needed for Galaxies and Clusters. With regards to Solar and Lunar individual shots in Photo mode and for stacking best in Video which I think you had it on in your video 👍Lots of new good stuff I believe in the new software. I'm hoping it enables us to link software with a Planetarium, ive got Synscan linked to Skysafari and it makes such a difference. D.Lab are doing a live video demo and Q&A tomorrow, not sure what time where you are. Thank you again for the brilliant tutorial. Paul.

    In your video your do a lot of restarts. This is not always neccessary. With a good calibration you can ohotograph multiple objects and still have a good tracking after that. But indeed, sometimes you have no choice. I'm in the middle of a small city, but unfortunately with a lot of light pollution. The Dwarf II is still able to capture great images with all this extra light against it. I captured the Orion nebula with 7 or 8 streetlights, my neighbour's very bright (%@*) porch light at 8 meters distance, with the Moon in the west and still I was able to take one of my best pictures ever. The Dwarf is a giant with straigh light. To be complete I do heve to mention that I'm using a small lense hood to keep the most straigh light from reaching the lense. But still...

    • @yourfavoriteastronerd
      @yourfavoriteastronerd  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi! Yes, I was wondering why I had to restart, and someone here told me to give the telescope some time in between sessions, to finish the live stacking, and last night I used it for the first time and it worked great! Did you use the Filter? I am curious how it works with it with so many lights around you. Last night was a clear one, and I almost fell from the chair on the very first image of Andromeda. Another question, the lens hood, is like the ones for eye pieces? Thanks for your time and comment, I appreciate it! Diana

      Oh, and another tip: you can set the binning to off in the camera settings. That way your sun and moon shots are in high resolution. Astro will be capturing in 2x2 binning (although in a soon to be update you will be able to choose Binning off in astro settings too).
