- How did Sans end up in Super Smash Bros Ultimate? How did Toby Fox end up becoming friends with Masahiro Sakurai, and how did he end up composing music for Game Freak's upcoming Little Town Hero?
While we don't have all the answers to these questions, we can share what we know.
Apologies for the audio on this one. BretonStripes is away on a business trip, so Kotor had to do the voiceover and, yeah, he's not as good at it.

@@ashen3405 of you beat undertale 16 times, it's possible to do all routes. If you did only neutral or genocide, you're kinda a monster, that means it never crossed your mind to not kill. If you did any pacifist routes, that means you reset the route multiple times, and you're still a monster for sweeping away the monster's happy ending. So therefore-

Toby is an example of what happens when the universe flips a coin in your favor.
All his hard work at Undertale paid off tremendously. He is a pioneer. The first indie developer to have a character playable (in one form or another) in Smash Bros. That is a lifetime achievement few can dream of.
If you equip a Mii with Protoman’s outfit and Sans head, you get Papyrus.

It makes more sense since Undertale and then eventually Deltarune drew more additional attention to some of the Nintendo fans. Especially with being into the Nintendo Games, asides from the characters and the RPG Game itself being heavily inspired by other older Nintendo Games like Earthbound, Mario, and so on.
This made me happy. I mean what else can i say, toby works on smash music now.

It's where I knew him from originally, heck it's the reason why I even played undertale on release. I loved his music for homestuck, and I was excited to see what new music he would compose.

@@aleksaaleksic4353 Toby Fox was one of the main composers of Homestuck, he originally did a lot of fan compositions but eventually befriended Hussie and they worked together, also Undertale was made in Andrew Hussies basement.

What an inspiration! So the game WAS made with Game Maker! For a long time, people have talked down on the engine and I've been told that "If you don't make your own engine from scratch, you aren't a game developer".
I look back now and realize that it was dumb to even listen to such bullcrap. It does not matter what engine you use to bring your ideas to life, JUST DO IT! And games like AM2R and Undertale are living examples. Not going to let others discourage me about that any longer. Thank you Toby!

Yeah I’m using game maker for my own Mother-inspired game and it requires way more coding than everyone just assumes

Can’t believe it’s been two years
2018 was when Undertale was undergoing the localization treatment, although the inverse of how it usually happens. In this case, a Western game was being translated into Japanese and integrating EASTERN humor, mannerisms, and dialects. I heard whispers of Earthbound references in this game, but as I had never played the Mother series, I missed most of them. It's cool to hear how Sans got incorporated into the SMASH roster.
