- FINALLY! I've gotten the balls to finally upload this! I have been putting this off for so long because I was super insecure about the health of my hair but i'm hoping that by sharing my story I can help someone else!

You made this 4 years ago but let me tell you how it is still SO SIGNIFICANT in 2022. I was struggling with shaving my head, and for a lot of the same reasons as you! We are lucky to have loving partners to accept us in our entirety. Thank you for you this, and your bravery. Shine on, Queen!

I don't know why anyone would give this video a thumbs down. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I just did the big chop and am loving it. I had locs for 17 years which I loved but they were stressing my scalp. I was afraid that I was going bold but was also afraid to cut them. I did so two and a half weeks ago and I am so thrilled. I have thin patches which I am praying will fill in as it grows. I slicked it down once with gel but am really loving my twa. You look so beautiful sis; and like me I so love that your partner supported you in this decision. That is a big help. So glad for youtube. I feel so affirmed watching so many sisters sharing their hair journey. Thanks again. You are such an inspiration!!!

I just cut mine. Same situation....locs for 10 year and my new growth was getting too thin to support the loss so I made the cut. I have thin patches too and I'm hoping they fill in though I plan on keeping my hair short for a while.

I had to do the big chop too.. It's a shame how much pressure, we as woman put on ourselves. My hair was thinning out too, but I started use Jamaican black Castor oil and I tell you no lie, my hair grew back in 7 days. I remember waking up excited to see if more grew overnight, and it did. Sounds crazy right? But it's true. I still use the Jamaican black Castor oil ONLY bc I'm afraid if I stop using it my hair may fall out again. Probably won't, but not sure. I don't even wanna take those chances girl🤣. Sista need her edges🤣🤣. But anyway, your beautiful girl. And I'm glad your happy now☺️
Wish mine would grow back in a week. it's been 2 months and it's coming back very slowly. I massge often, take biotin, zinc and collagen supplements.
I am LOVING your hair. I LOVE that you are embracing your natural hair. This looks SO much cuter, it's natural it's free of chemicals, it's perfect! I tried Rogaine and Yes, it worked grew my hair thicker (more dense) but I stopped because I didn't want to become a slave to medication which is what Rogaine is. I did a big chop even though I didn't have much to chop but I tell you it was freeing. OMG, you just don't know (well maybe you do) but I LOVE it and my hair is growing slow but steady and without chemicals...Oil combinations and massage is doing it. I'm going to try and find you with an update on your hair but I agree, the minimalist makeup and fake hair is wholesome and long overdue. There should be a challenge for black women to cut it off, grow it back and stop paying these beauty supply places for all this fake hair trying to look like who we are simply not. I get it, you do it if you want to or have hair issues but ladies, we just don't have butt length hair but can certainly ROCK our God given locks if we took as much care of them as we do this fake hair. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. Keep up the journey. It looks fantastic!

I pray I have that same confidence. I'm getting my hair cut extremely short tomorrow. Wish me luck. This will be my 2nd big chop. 1st time it was short too about 2 to 3 inches but this time around I'm going even shorter. Made the mistake of putting a curly perm in my hair twice. It was called Wave Nouveau. That shit broke my hair off and I started getting bald spots. Horrible. Will never do that again.

Hi, so glad to have found this video. I also had thin, fine hair and I had sisterlocks to help me keep my hands out of it. I had long locks in the end, but my roots were thinning even further. I talked it over with hubby and he backed me 100%. Soooooo, just over a week ago I took a trip to the local barbershop and in the end we took everything off. He was so cool, definitely a gem. It looks like you and I had a similar scalp situation, so It's really nice to see where I could be in a few weeks. I love this look on you and I'm looking forward to this length as well. You have me so inspired. I never usually show my natural hair and due to some health issues i experience thinning which at times makes me really insecure. I wear weaves and idk if it's due to me getting older but i want to wear my natural hair. I've been debating shaving it all and watching this video had empowered me! How did it turn out for you. Yes, wigs make you feel hostage, we are emotionally attached to our hair (no matter how thick/thin, long short); we have GOT to let that go. Just LET IT GO....it's time.

I cut my hair bald Sunday 12/12/21 and I love it I’m starting over fresh my hair was damaged and shedding so bad I should have done this along time ago it’s like a breath of fresh air to me now Im goin to have a healthier hair journey

I appreciate your honesty. I’m going through the ordeal of thinning right in the front of my hair. I’ve been ill and it was thin before my illness and suddenly it just shedded completely leaving me with a bald spot. It’s extremely hard to cover it over. I would love to cut it very short as you did. But like you I’m making all kinds of excuses not to. Thank you for your honesty and you really look great! I know this was a few years ago and I’m curious how you’re fairing now and if you’re still rocking the short hair.

It definitely helps to have a loving partner. You can really put yourself in a horrible space emotionally and mentally with this hair stuff! My hair looks the exact same as yours. And it’s is growing back in. I haven’t tried topicals being that I have Lupus, but it’s not easy ladies and I have to remind myself almost every day that I am not alone ! ❤❤❤ love you all, stay strong and love yourselves through it all! ❤

Don't be. My aunt has alopecia, she finally shaved her head bald. She never felt more beautiful. And she looks absolutely gorgeous and strong to me. You will find your beauty. "You are not your hair"
I so want to shave mine because I have a thinning spot in the crown of my head so I recently purchased Saw Palmetto oil. It is supposed to be good hair loss and alopecia.... and reverses hair loss
I shaved my locs off about a month ago and my crown is EXTREMELY damaged and thinned out. But scalp health is key to healthy hair.

Remember, it's just hair. I'm so comfortable with it now. I still play with wigs because I honestly love dressing up lol but I love being able to nurture my scalp and tend to my natural hair. It grows back sis, it doesn't define who we are. You're beautiful.

My sista you are absolutely gorgeous bare face or make up. My hair went from natural one year and a half to mid- length to my love of the pixie cut to over bleaching it to ALL OF IT FALLING OUT! MY HAIR IS NOW A PART OF THE BALD/ SHAVED SUSTA COMMUNITY! Let's be clear...Shaved hair is not shameful! Back to my story.. This was certainly not by choice, but by knowing what to do in preventing this occurrence, especially having relaxed and bleached my hair many times before. I slipped up and did not use logic.. Now thank God it is growing back! I wash it once or twice a week, pray over my follicles for growth and regain my hair strength back to using Jamaican Castrol oil and message it daily 2&3 times. Believe me prayer does work! My hair right now looks like Jada Pinkett in the green Oscar dress. I will regain my cute and classy pixie cut this year! I learned a valuable lesson! Viatim E oil is excellent for hair growth as well, strengthening conditioner or shampoo for damaged hair restore is great too! A great strength leave in conditioner is good too! As a man I find all women beautiful but I have such a weakness for women with really short hair and skinned hair!I myself had a beautiful mane of hair but my scalp was so so messed up like horrible so I shaved it all off and starting from scratch bizarre thing is I am all grey now but it’s coming in darker lol.If you want to do it just do it,feel confident,you are no different from anyone else.Stay beautiful everyone and stay safe!

I use coconut and Castor Oil. I use the tea tree oil if I get razor bumps or razor irritation. It eases the discomfort and promotes healing.

I’m 20 ans have been dealing with bad thinning for the last few years. I’ve never felt comfortable with short hair and I’m not confident with my head shape but I big chopped and went natural in 8th grade. I’m stuck between just doing it and feeling attached to all of the work I’ve put in for my natural hair to be where it is.
