I know this is old, but I'm a barber. He could have totally knocked out those dark spots to blend in with the light parts or he could have not went down too light so the light spots wouldn't have been noticeable. Other than that, you are a gorgeous woman and rocked it!
K J Thank you 😊 I noticed others who have big chopped and did not have this issue maybe their barber used your technique. It eventually grew in and laid down by the next time I got it cut. I’m grateful.
@@LoriLoveTV yeah, stylist and barbers need to have integrity when working on a client. Its only right and they're getting paid. Short hair suits you well. I'm glad your experience was better the second time.
K J I went to the same barber and he does a great job each time I go. I just figured my hair started laying down because I was consistently brushing it. Thanks again 💕
Agreed it was a nice cut but experience should of told him not to go that low straight in and use the brush.
@Happy thoughts penn It all depends on the texture and it was her first big chop. Her hair is wavy and shampoo would have helped the spots after it was cut down.
I been doing my research for weeks going back and forth about doing a big chop to start my natural hair journey. I’m 35 and this will be the first time being natural since a little girl lol. I recenty cut my it was initially in pixie cut grew out but not even I cut the damaged hair off and its shaved on the sides and back but I do intend to visit a barber to clean up the cut your tips are insightful and have helped me thank you for posting

I just Big Chopped for the 5th time and I love it more than the first two times. You gave out great tips. I’m over doing my hair. It’s grows and I shut down on what to do next. I love it ✨💕✨
I can definitely relate! I continued to cut my hair so I could maintain a short length. Then I let it grow in but now I’m debating cutting my hair again; I’m so lazy with my hair. I’m so happy you love your big chop🙌🏾 Short hair is gorgeous and easy to maintain! 💖

I’m currently obsessed with wash n go’s since it’s a super easy style that lasts at least a week but I’m thinking about cutting it again or starting locs since it’s longer now. I like to keep it simple. Ever consider locs?
@@keianatruesdale_ OMG I feel the same way!!!! I’m currently indecisive about locs or cutting my hair again. Only reason I haven’t started locs or cut it again is the fact that wash n’ go’s are working for me. If my wash and go’s become too time consuming, I will likely just big chop again. I don’t have the patience for long hair anymore lol. Plus, I can just wear a wig if I miss long hair. I hope you enjoy your 6th big chop. No need for insecurities this time around. You’ll still be you and your beautiful either way ❤️

@At this moment Thank you so much!!! I’m sure you’ll be cute with short hair too. Just find the style that works for you! I found that this hair style works for me only when a certain barber cuts b/c not every barber gets the part nice and thin as in this video. Now I prefer my hair half an inch long so that I can just wash and go but it took me a a lot of different failed hairstyles and colors before I found the look that works for me. Pinterest has a bunch of different short hairstyles for great inspo!!!! I hope you find a style you love🤍

If you’re considering a big chop, just tell the barber you want a #2 all over and clean up the edges. They will know exactly what to do if they are an experienced barber.

You should never trim a lady’s hairline with a razor. I have been natural for almost 20 years and have a wonderful barber from Atlanta, Georgia. I, myself love a nice line around my face, even though my barber says that ladies should leave their soft natural hairline, but he would never square me up with a razor as it makes heart lines like a man would have

Just wondering how long have it took for you to train your hair again after cutting it off because I've been thinking about cutting my braids off for some time
I could’ve sworn I answered this question. Thank you for your patience, I believe it took about about two weeks especially since I brushed my hair and tied it down with a wave cap every night.

I know this an old video. But, when I decided to go with a fade. I realized my hair is thin, so I looked like I was balding, it was like a diamond shape thin spot on the top of my head. I realized after wards that I have to tell him to leave more hair at the top cause of my hair texture
I'm the same way! I realize I have to do the same thing when I go to the barber. Now, I just maintain a TWA, which makes my life easier.

Dee Michelle Not necessary; men with fro’s don’t blow their hair out and the barber still does a great job. Just make sure your hair is detangled.😊

I noticed the barber was cutting your hair on different angles. Was he cutting it in the direction that your hair grows?
I am assuming the barber was cutting my hair in the direction my hair grows. I think going against the grain takes off much more hair. With that said, I am not a hair professional so I do not know anything about barber techniques. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

For many years I did my hair and my three daughters😁 Then I wanted to cut my own hair so I prayed, asked God for guidance and bought clippers. However, I love to follow others for ideas. I love it!! I can tell you we're not happy with those longs hairs in your head... that's what the dark spots really are. Just because you might use a 3M on some parts something like the top of your head may need different gauge lengths or no guard at all. He was trippin for that

tradition man LOL He shaved my sideburns. I never realized how much fine hair I had growing along the sides of my cheeks until then. I don’t get that shaved anymore... I think it’s more natural to let it be😊

Gloria Davis I decided to big chop my hair because of heat damage. My hair was extremely time consuming; wash days could easily be 4+ hours...I was tired of maintaining my own hair so I relied on the hair salon to straighten it at least once a month. I ended up with thin, limp hair. The big chop has been a blessing especially during the quarantine. My life is much easier with shorter hair. If I ever miss wearing long hair, I can always get a wig😊

Not all barber can cut female hair , in my view its best to go a female barber to cut your hair, females pattern in hair and style is different when your is cut that low you don't want to look like dude but like female.

Overall, I was happy with my results and the next time I went back my hair laid perfectly.
The cut itself suit you but a poor barber. Maybe you didn't want a line up but he could of neatened the front and back better and I saw him use a brush but 3 times.
Dolly Mat My only concern at the time was the thin patches on top but my hair did eventually grow in and lay down just as my barber said it would. I prefer that the barber not line up the front or back as I feel that my natural edges are more feminine on me. Thanks for the compliment; I love my short hair.
@@LoriLoveTV I know what you mean about looking feminine. Barbers are so use to cutting guys unless a women is specific about what she wants she can end up with a harsh line up. I had locs for 11 years and big chop in December. During the pandemic I want to cut my own hair and was looking for ideas as a female.
Dolly Mat I specifically asked this barber not to line me up but when I went to a different barber the next time he forgot and lined me up 🤦🏽♀️. From then on I stuck with the barber in this video and I was good. LOL I eventually just maintained my curls in the short cut. This has worked for me because it’s simple but there are so many pictures & videos of cute cuts online that can used as inspiration. I hope you find the style that works for you.

Unfortunately, the thin areas are due to hair loss. I was experiencing excessive shedding. I’ve since addressed the issue with my dermatologist.
