Let's revisit the Down4Sound JP8 and find out if this little beast can handle some torture tests. In this video I'll 1) try the amp with low voltage input (12V), 2) try with 0.8, 0.6 and 0.5 ohm resistive loads 3) Heat up the amp to find out what temp the fan turns on and 4) Thermal imaging and final thoughts!
Amp is rated to deliver:
490W at 4 ohms
650W at 2 ohms (500W at 12V)
850W at 1 ohm (700W at 12V)
Also said to be stable at 0.5. We'll find out in THIS video!

Bro.. i got your JP 23 and my god that thing is an animal i, i got 2 dc level 4 wired down to .5 settles at bout .8 to.9 with rise ..it has never missed a beat and takes allot to get hot , ive never seen the temp go past 112 yet..i love that amp and are thinking of buying another 1.. this new JP8 may be the best "800watt" amp on the market right now!

Just ordered one of these, thanks for the excellent video and test. I appreciate that you don't have any bias in your tests, even when the company supplies the product to you. I even called D4S and asked about mounting dimensions, which are not listed on their site, and they took measurements for me, great customer service.
Two months update, I have this wired to 0.67ohms running 4 voice coils in parallel, each voice coil is 2.5 ohms. This amp supplies so much power, doesn't clip, and doesn't run hot. So glad I bought it. Thanks JP and BigD

Just got mine in and am very happy. Sound quality is way better than I expected for a $203 amp shipped and she's doing work. The bass remote is the best one by far I have ever seen. Voltage, temperature and clipping all together. You the man JP. I put this in my older truck as a test as I'm going to do something in my newer truck. Not in a hurry but if this one does fine for the next month I'm probably going the JP23 JP234 combo for $600 I can't see going wrong. If you listening JP I'm sure you get alot of silverado sierra customers, a 6.5 4x6 combo would be 👌. I see the other combos but I ain't about cutting my doors all up.

Thank you for all the tests and videos you do. I know this one is older but it helped me pick a jp8 for my dally drive 09 rav4. Long story short I am a old bass head that after 20years is getting back in to it with my 17 year old daughter. I ended up with 2 skar sdr dvc 2ohm 10" out of a box I picked up for her truck. I am running them at 0.5 ohm on a jp8 with 4g ofc no other power upgrades. 13.8v untill I really push it and it will pull some power but has not popped the 200amp fuse. I love the remote as well not going to lie it was a factor in my interest before the Dino test. After the tests I got one for me car and one for the build for my daughter's first system 😅

Bought this amp as soon as I saw BigD’s first video, I cannot believe it’s still selling for $200. I should buy a couple more. I’ve beat the piss out of this amp and never had any issues. This is a $3,000 amp if this was the 90s or early 2000s.

Big D......I also had a small piece of plexiglass glass floating inside my autographed jp8......I had to open it and take it out. 1/4” x 1” in size. Cool amp all the same and dang amazing. Love the old school feel
Probably was just one of the vent pieces that got cut out and ended up stuck to the plexi and then fell off inside the amp

I run a hifonics brutus x-14 , that I bought when they came out , been running it at .25 ohm for 5-6 years now., without any problems, does get pretty warm when I run it full tilt for a few hours , I did big 3 , extra battery ,and 275a h.p.o. alt when I got the amp , I

Definitely an awesome amp! My fan comes on as soon as it’s powered up. Emailed D4S about that situation and I was told it’s normal. The description of the amp states that it supposed to come on at 120 . JP had a video out on the JP8 and even stated that the fan cuts on at 120 degrees.

This line of amps will go down in history as LEGENDS! I just picked up a JP23 v2 and WOW. Absolutely insane. I really can't find any flaws other than the digital readout on the bass knob being a tad too bright, mainly at night. A small piece of tint will fix that! On the 1st night that I was testing my JP23, my temps got up to 127 degrees F before I tapped out! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

i've noticed that even at 10hz a subsonic filter can alter sound quality and not for the better. and that's just my opinion but the one amp i owned that had one i kept it off. not sure why you see so many amps with them on there these days where they're undefeatable? prob better power ratings on the dyno?
