- Matt Ford is now the first American to come forward about being diagnosed with monkeypox. The 30-year-old is an actor living in New York and Los Angeles. Ford first went public with his diagnosis after posting videos regarding his infection. At one point he had 25 lesions on his body, which are now healing. Ford says he's speaking out because he's upset that more is not being done to prevent people from catching the virus.
"Monkey pox is spread by close skin to skin contact." I guess I have nothing to worry about then.

I have a 24 year old that was healthy, he got covid then later got all the shots & booster. This kid barely leaves the house was always healthy has had covid 4 times now. He will go for weeks at a time without leaving the house , guess the fast food we bring him is contaminated. I'm closing in on 60 & have never even had a regular flu shot , weird how the person that's had all immunizations is the one getting sick the most. Not one bout of covid for me & I took care of him yes really weird.

I’m pretty sure I got MonkeyPox in Vegas a few weeks ago and got a total of two lesions on the back of one shoulder. That was it. I didn’t put it together until watching the news after getting back. They took awhile to heal but they did and I felt fine. Maybe it affects certain people worse than others, that wouldn’t be surprising.

I've had covid once. It was bad but not unbearable. I've not gotten any of the vaccines or a booster. And I'm a truck driver going from place to place all over the country during covid. Sometimes I was masked mostly not. But I stand little chance of getting monkeypox because I'm a heterosexual male who's married and I don't engage in sexual contact but with my wife. Neither she nor I have close intimate contact with anyone but each other. Maybe there's a lesson in that logic. This is a disease for those who entertain hookup culture. Being monogamous even in both hetero and homosexual relationships means you're likely to not contract this.

Here's my PSA: Monkeypox typically, but not exclusively, spreads through extended skin-to-skin contact. So because it began in men who have sex with men, it has largely stayed among them.
Had the virus first spread among straight people, it would likely have remained among them. It’s the social network phenomenon. It’s who you’re having contact with, not anything about the specific behavior (for you homophobes out there).

My husband had it as a baby when he was visiting family in South America. It was extremely rare then so he was cared for by a pediatrician that was extended family.

My lesions when i had my chickenpox before was uncountable to the point that i looked like vecna and also leaves me some nasty scars which sucks.

I just got Covid and I am not vaccinated, I am very disappointed. I was told it would be very bad, in 2007 I had the flu and it was far worse than Covid. Hopefully monkey pox is better. I'm actually really upset that the world went into lockdown to save a few pensioners.

I had way worse chickenpox as a kid. Not really that worried about this. Not sure why we have to fear monger everything. Less than 200 cases in the US, spread by "close skin-to-skin contact" (i.e. you're most likely to catch it from a sexual partner, not super likely just from being in public), goes away in a week or two, so far not killing anyone, but I've heard about it at least 100 times. Think it has enough attention. 🤷🏼♂️
The more something spreads, the more it mutates. Plus, did you wanna subject a young child to something that painful? Chicken Pox is usually mild, but it can still kill people. So yeah, people might be a bit concerned.

Your experience shows that the monkeypox lesions can be very painful -- like people who experience shingles -- something one wants to make every effort to avoid!

I almost went crazy no body believed me. Since I’m past this all I can say is with these technologies and all of the new studies we will always be getting new health problems but in reality we just need to take care of our self.
