@@2300gearjammer yes sir, spun number 4 on the way home about two years ago. It motivated me to finish my lancer. Your videos are giving me the motivation to play with my truck again. I stopped and just looked at it for a good half hour thinking back on all the good memories. It was my very first car, which my grandfather purchased me for my 18th bday. It had pin-striping and a sunroof from the factory. It was mine after sitting under a tree for 23 years. The body still has less than 80K total miles on it. I’m glad that I found you on CZcams, the 2.3 is a very interesting powerhouse.
Have you ever thought about finding one of the ford/lotus DOHC heads to slap on a 83-86 or 84-97 Lima block? The dual side flow Webber carbs would be pretty sweet, or maybe even ITB’s slapped on instead.

I just found a 1998 Ranger StyleSide with power windows, door locks, and mirrors. It has the 2.3L Auto Transmission. I’m going to get it ready to do Auto Cross on the weekends by lowering it 2” up front 4” out back, C-Notch the frame, exhaust, intake, plugs, pro charger, inter cooler, and transmission cooler, 18x9 mustang wheels w/ 275x35 BFG tires, it’s missing a rear bumper so I plan on picking up and painting a new rear bumper, detailing the interior, replacing the interior carpet, replace the stereo with a touch screen Apple CarPlay unit, 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, and an 8” sub, shorty antenna, add hood struts, tailgate struts, full size matching spare, explorer rear axle, wilwood disc brakes all the way around, then when the budget allows a 2.7L ExoBoost Engine Swap from an F150 and the 10 Speed Auto, and then a full frame off restoration after that with full custom paint… It’s a project truck that I’m really excited about because it’s small, compact, and nostalgic for me since my 1st truck was a 1996 Ranger Splash Single
Cab with the 4.0 Auto and 3.73 gears 24yrs ago.

I’ve beaten myself up looking for one of the old school cast iron turbo exhaust manifolds for a 2.0L EAO. Trying to avoid building one out of 321 Stainless.
I do have a head, exhaust manifold (RFE6) and complete intake - minus the throttle body that came from an XR4Ti. I left the 2.3 as it was already built and apparently already .030 with Sealed Power pistons - blown head gasket. Useless to me…Chip showed up while I was taking parts and he got the computer and harness.
I just don’t really want to put a 2.3L in my 72 unless I really have too. The car has been in the family since 74 and I just want to mild build the 2.0L with under 7lbs of boost.

Yeah. My family is a hot Rod family and my uncle also had a variety of cars.
He built a 71 sedan and the 72 he kept stock minus a maverick rear end and slightly lowering it. Both cars are 70’s time capsules. He bought the 71 new and the 72 in 74. Both have 14F/15R OG US Mag 5 slots and Coker BG Radial T/A that replaced the originals. The 71 build started as a 302/C4 and ended up in the early 80’s with a 383/TH350, stock mustard yellow with blacked rear panel and GT wide Black Stripes on the hood and trunk. 8 rows of the old school 3 inch punched louvers in the hood. He rarely drove and it looks brand new with a Cherry all black interior. My dad and uncle fitted all of their hot rods with the “at the time” 70’s era Clarion AM/FM Cassette/CB Radio’s. Radios you can’t even find a picture of online.

I am not familiar with these Ranger setups with the 2.3 . Are these engines the same as the Pinto 2.3 motors ??? From experience in drag racing , I remember a well known racer from Ohio named " OHIO George Montgomery " who drag raced the pinto 2.3 engines with nationally known success with turbo's when there was very little technology for turbochargers. At that time George said that these motors were so tough in stock form that you could run 20 lbs of boost with a stock block , rods and crank , which he did and he hammered these motors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can you tell me about the differences or similarities of these motors regarding block , crank ,rods and heads ??!!
