The Obédiencerie houses a 13th century wine press. It was the town’s monastery and the press was situated in its grounds, outside. We know this because the building it is in today dates from the 15th century. While it is unique since it still works, there are two other presses like it at the Clos de Vougeot, a few minutes drive from Nuits Saint George.
