thanks for your effort to make the video, but I believe it's a bit misleading. temperature will be the same given enough time. look at 3:40. the temperature of the tinted aquarium actually rise much slower than the untinted, even untinted has about 10seconds more exposure. I guess this is what most drivers need to see. with the reduced heat increment plus AC, i think cheap tint will work. of course, probably can't compare with brand name expensive tint i believe.
Crystalline from 3M is amazing. It's expensive but worth it. Look it up guys. You have to shrink it a certain way though or it will create waves in the tint.
Once it sits long enough, the aquariums will eventually reach the same temperature, regardless of what you wrap it with to prevent ambient temperature changes from the sun. The same thing will happen with ceramic tint. The question is how long it will take to reach an uncomfortable temperature, and the amount of UV that it blocks
Very true. People think they can get a nano ceramic tint and then leave their car hours in the sun and just walk back into a cool car. Nope. It'll be just as hot as a car with no tint after several hours.
Never thought of tint as a way to make the car cooler. Thought of it as a way to help keep the sun out of your eyes making visibility better during sunny days. I would think a tint being a darker color and seeing how black absorbs light I would think whatever quality tint you use would make it hotter. Kind of like if your wearing a black shirt vs a white shirt on a hot sunny day. Your going to be hotter in the black shirt.
black absorbs light, if you wanted it to reflect youd need a lighter color. the black will allow less heat to pass through so you wont get blinded by the light. so if you want it to keep the car cooler you need to get something light that reflects.
The tint probably acted like an extra thermal layer trapping the heat from the sidewalk inside. Probably want to add a heat absorber between the bottom of the tank and the sidewalk.
Do one with cheap tint vs expensive tint in the aquarium. To show the difference. Heat wise will be the same, the expensive one might block those nasty uv better and keep your upholstery nice for longer. Most people use window tint for privacy.
I suppose you got it all wrong. The reason why you see the tinted one "darker" is because it doesnt reflect most of the light that falls on it. It absorbs most of those light. Thats why you see it darker. Darker glass will get hotter and it only has 2 options to disperse its own heat; radiate inside and radiate outside. The idea behind tinted window isnt about whether the inside of the car gets hot or not, its about blocking uv-b and uv-c, also some visible light too if you like privacy.
I tint professionally, who cares just turn on the a/c lol You get what you pay for when it comes to film. Llumars dope, I really like Madico I like Suntek CIR my work uses Solar Pro not to bad. Much love guys!
need to understand that most tint merely blocks visable and uv light. UNLESS the tint has an IR blocking compound that actually have IRER/SIRR ratings then it doesn't block heat.
The non tinted aquarium has a gap beneath it which allows air to move in and out, which ruins your experiment. Also you took the number on the digital thermometer and ignored the other thermometer which showed cooler temperature in the tinted aquarium?!
The results of these tests were not surprising and actually quite misleading. The reason sunlight heats the inside of a vehicle is partially due to the body of the vehicle heating up on the outside and radiating through to the inside, but mostly because sunlight passes through the windows and hits the interior of the vehicle, i.e., the dashboard, seats, and door panels, thus heating it up. This is why pretty much any tint (no matter how cheap) will keep the interior of a vehicle at a lower temp than if there were no tint at all. The reason your tests seemed to show otherwise is because there was nothing inside the tanks to absorb sunlight besides the concrete sidewalk. This meant the only difference in the two tanks was the small amount of heat from the tint itself absorbing sunlight. Any vehicle with tinted windows will experience some degree of heating from the windows themselves. However, that heat is more than compensated for with the amount of sunlight that is prevented from getting through the windows and being absorbed by the interior. I have no doubt that the quality of tint can make a big difference in how hot an interior gets, but I don’t think the cheap tint is actually “worse than nothing.” Especially on a vehicle with a dark colored interior, which can also be a big factor in how much of a difference tinted windows makes. I’d like to see the tests redone with some different color interior analogs that represent some common vehicle interior colors, such as black, dark gray, light gray, beige, and maybe brown? Just a suggestion. Thanks for reading my wall of text if you got this far. 👍
Im a thermal engineer. Your test is flawed. The clear tank has heat passing into it and out the other side. If the tinted one is absorbing more heat, it is conducting that heat into the interior. In a car the sun wouldn't shine right through it, it would shine on the dash and seats and warm it up. If a tinted car had tint that absorbs heat, it would heat up the glass and the outside air would convect some of that heat away. Just trying to help. I want to watch your test on the actual car now.
OK... Clear tank is 120F and digital is 111F. Tinted tank is 110F and 111F digital... "Safe to say cheap tint doesn't actually do anything." If you do an average of each tank temp the tinted one works better... Your conclusion seems flawed. I think if you do a cheap vs expensive tint, you might get the results that you are wanting to portray.
I saw the eBay post for 5%, 20%, 35%, 50% in the video..checked my tint shop's instagram and they ONLY offer those same percentages. Guess I know where the get their films..and mine cost $100 to install....and the worst of all, my car doesn't have A/C...🤦
You shoulda done a test with good quality tint to show the difference!
Do a test with ceramic tint!
Black absorbs light which in turn will heat it up...
yeeeeee

Project farm is the man his tests are on point
The real title should be: "Mike Turns His 6th Grade Project Into A CZcams Video"
Yeah problem is that project is a complete fail on his part.
Project Farm absolutely rules

I was literally about to comment about Project Farm🤣
3m Crystaline
Can't wait for the follow up - not so sure it will make that big of a difference, myself.

Solar heat
50% ± infrared (ir)
40% ± visible light
3% ± ultraviolet (uv)
Yeahhhh can’t wait to see the name brand stuff...always tried to get some good ceramic tint and not cheap out
black absorbs light, if you wanted it to reflect youd need a lighter color.
the black will allow less heat to pass through so you wont get blinded by the light.
so if you want it to keep the car cooler you need to get something light that reflects.
Now wanna see the good film experiment. If possible
It all works. Mention youre after temperature differences. If i use plastic tint for darkness, it works.
Would it have made a difference if you wrapped the tint inside the tank instead of outside?
Or put a lid on the tanks?
i was thinking the same.. a proper tint is done on the inside not the outside.. so thats probably why its keeping the heat in..
I always thought Tint was used to help block sun light and uv rays not heat
The color in tint is just a dye. Not actually heat deterent
Exactly. I treat my tint more as a privacy thing, not a heat deterrent.
black absorbs heat tho it lets through less light which is what its supposed to do
the clear one had a place for hot air to escape
Please let check the Famous 3M. And the I think it's called chroma tint. Cant wait to see
The tint probably acted like an extra thermal layer trapping the heat from the sidewalk inside. Probably want to add a heat absorber between the bottom of the tank and the sidewalk.
The heat got out though the crack in the concrete

100th like right here
Should also test a good tint
Is ceramic tint any good? You guy's should do a tint off with that one. Wait wait wait! Is there any white tint🤣
I know some shop that uses ceramic tint $150 all windows and $50 front windshield but not to dark 🤔 wonder what this shop charges
Around 200

The cut in the pavement will be allowing heat to escape so won’t be very accurate

Cheaper isn't always better.

The power of including more variables to get a more accurate result.

Good info! Now you guys need to do a comparison video between Taco Bell and Del Taco. Skeet Skeet bitches!!
its a black tint, of course its going to heat up more, black takes in heat..........

I bought one of those cheap thermometers. Trash

Man the content on this channel been super whack lately.
