Yesterday evening, I was strummin’ this Blackwood Maton on the back porch, watching the sun sink behind the lake… and this song just started flowing out. I love when melodies seem to come more from the moment than from any intellectual force. Hopefully this takes you to a moment of peace.
This is the same setup I used in my recent “Another Brick in the Wall” Pink Floyd cover, and I got a lot of questions about the stomp box I used for the kick drum sound. It was made by Wild Dog Stomp, and has two sets of tambourine cymbals that can be used open or muted, depending on the song. I’ve been really digging it. Be sure to put some 🎧 on to hear it in full-effect!

This song is so straightforward, with no fancy frills, just good, simple music. It captures a certain feeling that i can identify, but can’t quite describe.

Becky TheBullet just absolutely amazing music heals the worn out soul, and this man is a magician with his hands. It really pulled me out of a really bad spot, usually I can play and pull myself out of it but it was bad the other day and I just couldn’t do it and immediately this Blackwood Lullaby was the answer! 😁 so now we are back in the fight and playing guitar again today.

My two Matons are no holds bared my favourite guitars. The acoustic has a tone that just surrounds you and my 1970's Sapphire Deluxe electric has the sweetest neck ever (IMHO).

I listen to your songs on CZcams and Apple Music all of the time. I suffer from PTSD, OCD, multiple forms of Anxiety, and Depression. I can’t listen to songs with lyrics because I can get triggered. Your variety is so amazing and helps me a lot. I just finished going into a full on panic attack. My kids turned the lights down and put on your music. It helped me to gather myself and just focus on your guitar. It calmed me and brought me out of my panic attack. I’ve decided to try and find a guitar and learn to play. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your talent and wanted you to know what a healing and inspirational tool your gift is to me. Blessings to you Brother and thank you!

My TE 808 records that clear without any mixing. Depends on how you set it up “my friend.”

I'll never play as well as Justin, but I was sure that when I but a good acoustic guitar it was going to be a PRS or a Martin, but the couple of videos of this guitar are changing my mind. The sound is just incredible.

Listening to it I got the impression you were composing it on the spot or at the least still fleshing it out, apparently you were. Very relaxing with some soulfulness. A couple of times I thought you were building up to a transition into something harder only to pull back into the relaxing place again. Most excellent.
