- This song speaks less about our differences and more about our similarities. This song was written with Joey Hyde and Shane Minor. We were talking one morning about how polarized the country felt and how sad that was. The more we talked about our differences, the more we realized that we are all so much alike when it comes to things of the heart. We all hurt. We all love. At the end of the day, we all want to be happy. We, in fact, are not that different at all. With that realization, the song Same Water, Different Boat was written in a little over an hour.
