Worst Selling JoJo Game is Not as Bad As You May Think

- An overview of the Japan Only JoJo: Phantom Blood PS2 game published by Bandai Namco released on the PlayStation 2.
Continuing on from my last video on the Golden Wind PS2 game, I was pleasantly surprised by what is the lowest selling JoJo game to date. While it lacks a lot of what made Golden Wind interesting, it has it's own charm and silliness that kept me going throughout the whole experience.
This game also predates its more popular anime adaptation which began in 2012, but it also came out a year before the Phantom Blood OVA film which is now considered lost media.
I am open to suggestions on new games to cover. While I am not planning at the moment to cover any other JoJo game, let me know if you would be interested in seeing a video on any of them as I would be open to revisiting/seeing what else they have to offer.

The fact that they have alternate cutscenes for fights that are meant to be unbeatable, is enough for me to say that the devs cared about it

If I remember correctly, the speed the gauge filled on the HEAT MAX move depends on the enemy's remaining health
That would make some sense. I kinda assumed it just was broken as I never managed to fill it up to max

It’s easy to forget about all the jojo media before the anime popularised the series outside of Japan but it’s been real fun and got me interested in seeing more of what’s out there.
Wish we had a part 3 game like this it would be amazing
Part 3 does have an RPG and a pretty good fighting game made based upon it but certainly wouldn't say no to more games like this that focus on single parts
well, part 3 get HFTF's Super Story Mode which is great.

I like the way you play this game to find everything interesting about it. Your descriptions also made me chuckle quite a while I was pretty surprised to look down and see that this video only has 6k views. This video is definitely much better than the average "game retrospective" videos on youtube.

Oh yeah! This is what we have been waiting for! It's also the most complete look into the game except for possibly the wiki, so that's pretty cool.
Jonathan sounds like zoro. Is that the same va?
He’s voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka in this game who actually voices Doflamingo in One Piece
Edit: Young Jonathan IS actually voiced by Zoro’s VA (Kazuya Nakai). It’s older Jonathan who is voiced by Doflamingo

Young Jonathan shares VAs with Zoro, but his older self shares his voice with Diavollo.
You can't attack enemies that are on the ground because a gentleman never hits someone while they're down.

Good times. I remember NakaTeleeli doing an entire playthrough of the game back in 2008, and that's how I got through Part 1 (some content from the manga was cut like the Part 5 game, but I ended up reading Part 1).

I'm probably just shouting into the void here but I think you should try bleach soul resurreccion, it's a game that came out on the PS3 and i've heard basically nobody talk about it.
It has a surprising amount of playable characters and also sticks to the story well.
I remember getting the demo for that game on the Japanese PSN store back in the day. I've never played the full game but it sounds like a fun one to revisit for sure 😁
Another thing about the voices. This is pretty much the only archive of the original voices for the phantom blood OVA. if you don’t know, there IS a phantom blood OVA. Like to the Stardust Crusaders one. But it’s lost media because of its lack of physical release. And I’m pretty sure this game uses the voice actors from the OVA
I thought the same since they were made quite close to each other but It’s not the exact same cast as characters like Jonathan and Erina have completely different voice actors from the lost OVA, but Dio and Zeppli for example are the same

This is a well written and edited video, but I feel like you should've mentioned at the start that Anchor Inc. (the devs) actually quit game development completely after this dropped, due to negative reactions to a playtest for an unreleased original fighting game prior

Most of the songs used are the OST of the game. They don’t really have proper names but this one can be found on YT as ‘Jojo16’

I think a cool idea for a next video would be on the Berserk game exclusive to the Dreamcast. I've never played It, but apparently its story deviates from the manga, and was rated pretty fairly when it first released. I haven't seen many people talk about this game so it would be cool if you made a video on it.

Considering it released not too long before the phantom blood movie had the showing, I think it’s pretty likely

Bamco only published the Dark Souls games worldwide and Demon's Souls in Europe. From Software made them. Bloodborne is Sony's IP despite being made by From Soft (plus Demon's Souls although Sony refused to publish outside of Japan at first which is why Bamco published in Europe and Atlus in the US). If Bamco owned Bloodborne, that game would've been on everything and not a PS4 exclusive. Besides letting Fromsoft doing what they want after DS2, they are a pretty trash publisher and developer if they even make games at this point and not just rely on subsidiaries and publishing deals.
