    The reason you liked his early videos is because they were directly geared towards the “self” improving itself. They were useful to you because you can make your life better and therefore be happier. As he got older and did psychedelics, his insights become larger than the self. They became abstract. The “self” doesn’t care about this because it doesn’t benefit it directly. It’s not a material thing you can practice. But the things he is saying is true. You just can’t see them as true unless you experience them yourself. The experiences are literally beyond words, beyond and description. It’s just an understanding that yes, this is the truth. It will come to you sooner or later, when the “self” can no longer sustain itself and it suffers increasingly as things don’t go its way.

    I don't know much about Leo Gura. But I wouldn't be surprised if what you say is true. The only video I have watched from him was about "the social matrix". It was 3 hours long like most of his videos. I stopped watched half way through. All I got was pseudo-intellectual vibes from this guy. He would say common sense ideas as if they were profound and I got bored out of my mind and felt bad that I wasted 90 minutes listening to a guy who clearly just likes the idea of being "woke". The fact that he has so many subscribers and overall has a lot of support is rather depressing because I really didn't see any value in his content. Overly long, saying nothing. Just giving people the illusion that he is saying something that is worth listening to.

    The fact that you made a video to criticize someone else really reveals more about you than it does him.

    What bothers me is not his flaws but his child-like defensive reactions to sincere feedback and his seeming lack of self-awareness or care that he reacts that way. Why do his followers refuse to see this? I wanted to see him grow, but instead he seems to be going deeper into his echo chamber. It's an example of a whole spiritual community doing the opposite of what they preach and repelling any dissent. It's madness.

      Well his followers are simpletons. One only has to glance at his forum to see the stupidity. Leo can get away with this because there will always be people like this, moths circling false light instead of the true light of the moon.

    You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but poop is that times a thousand.

    • @dmtdreamz7706

      @@reconon You are the only thing that exist. So you are imagining me and i'm imagining you but you're imagining me imagining you and i'm imagining you imagining me. Two mirrors facing each other into infinity. So you are imagining that I have a conscious experience separate from your own and by imagining it you are hallucinating it into existence. You're creating it. You are constructing all of reality but you're not conscious of how your doing it and the ego mind is not in control of how it's being done. Imagine that you had such a powerful imagination that you could imagine poop and you imagined it so strongly that it would physically materialize right in front of you.💩. That's literally what is happening. The floor your sitting on is literally that.

    Some valid takes which I came to the same conclusions before watching this, but also a good portion of this video was just you disliking Leo, which is fine you’re entitled to it. But regardless there is great value in his videos even when he doesn’t respect where he got the information from. And for his “God” and “Love” takes, anyone thinking critically enough can simply disregard that and pay attention to the gold in the videos.

    I also thought he was shit and narcissistic before diving deep into spirituality, eastern or western: christian mysticism, psychedelics, new age, buddhist, hindu, and so on. Even my passion of reading german philosophy - mainly german idealism and F. W. Schelling - attuness with various ideas he teaches. So now I have him as a great reference because I took the time and effort to build a philosophical foundation besides him, which, surprisingly, confirms a lot of what he says. Not that I think he is perfect, but I know that he is not scam.

    • @theGuilherme36
      @theGuilherme36 Před rokem

      Yeah, if he took more time to show the historical thinkers which show ideas similar to what he says, he certainly would be more convincing. But probably he wouldn't have time to develop the "pure philosophy" which he is so into and is so valuable.

    • @theGuilherme36
      @theGuilherme36 Před rokem

      So I agree with your criticism that he could cite more of the original thinkers which said similar things to what he says, and not pose much as "the original inventor" of all that. But that doesn't invalidate his philosophy. I think he even talks about this in some of his videos.

    • @Kasperanzaa
      @Kasperanzaa  Před rokem

      No, his thinking lacks rigor, and he doesn’t want to introduce and argue with other philosophers because he’s too arrogant and narcissistic to get bogged down by the “petty details.” His approach to philosophy is big picture nonsense, saying vague and ridiculous things like, “God is Love” and then leaning back smugly while you fail to comprehend his meaningless statements. It affirms his grandiosity when you can’t understand it, while at the same time deluding himself into thinking he understands what he says.
      Besides, German idealism, or neo-Kantianism, in itself is already pretty questionable. It’s not surprising that Leo has praised Hegel, who Schopenhauer considered a charlatan.

    • @theGuilherme36
      @theGuilherme36 Před rokem

      @@Kasperanzaa Schopenhauer himself is considered by many as a german idealist. And Schelling himself - the really great piece of german idealism - had some foundational disagreements with Hegel.
      About Leo, I think in fact he could be less arrogant. But yet he is not a scam. His philosophy is great, although not rigourously perfect.

    • @Kasperanzaa
      @Kasperanzaa  Před rokem

      @@theGuilherme36 What makes it great?! He hasn’t even written a book explaining what he actually means!! He has no intellectual memory or roots, or understanding of how he fits into the greater picture of philosophy as a whole. He just assumes that he’s above it all, like the narcissist he is.
      You could say Nietzsche was narcissistic, but he actually wrote stuff down, engaged with other thinkers, and brought something truly original to philosophy and brought important ideas to the forefront given his cultural context and time period. Leo strikes me as a floating and meaningless.
