Convenience stores not only serve as shopping hubs, but they also handle tasks like paying public utilities such as water bills, managing home deliveries, and even issuing tickets for events like concerts. For some, convenience stores truly encompass their daily lives. And that's why I really admire people who work at Japanese convenience stores...
Can't those things be done online? Genuinely asking
@@anisahs2110some yes others no, depending on where you live etc you still have to file via physical paperwork
Some of those services are also available in convenience stores in my area. Except for good ready to eat food, only the bare minimum. Those only exist in convenience stores in the city center, or near the train station.
@@anisahs2110 you asking japan about doing online? Have you seen their atm?
If you live alone, you can ask amazon to deliver your package to your nearest conbini if you're away all day long. So, you can take it after work even as late as 12-1 am in the morning. They open 24 hours anyway.
Some of the Konbini food might be overrated but the fact that they have cheap good food and drinks available at any time of the day and FREE WIFI makes them godsend
And that you can buy movie, concert, sports etc. tickets there. Can send parcels/letters or receive it there, printing paper/pictures, can make payments for tax/online shopping/ etc. I'm quite sure convenience store in estonia dont
What convenience store doesn’t have drinks lmao
@@KK-qg9uqwhy would I need to do that when I have a phone
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034some country doesn't actually have a dedicated online payment platform for those stuff. And some are just shit so might as well have a physical option.
I mean, the rose-tinted excitement will wear off eventually. But Japan truly put convenience in convenient store.
Also you foreigners need to stop going to downtown LA only when you go to the US.
I disagree the fact that you can buy a pop out suit from a 7-11 is amazing, And the WiFi is great for directions
When I was in Japan in July the 7-11s saved my ass.
I think it's more than just getting food at the convenience store. It's also a one stop shop for Amazon delivery packages. Buying tickets to events. Getting last minute essentials tooth paste, hair spray, hell, even dress shirts.
I don’t know about that. I was very happy during my trip. It’s probably because I live in a very small area in the US so I have two extremely overpriced stores near me and everything else is like an hour away. Even the ones that are supposed to be 24/7 aren’t at this point
You don’t have a Walmart?
@@williamhardee8863 oh yeah there is one less than an hour away I guess. It’s not 24/7 anymore though
Place: 😐
Place, but Japan: 😯
I see comments praising the prices but, as someone who lives in Japan, I don't think conbinis are cheap at all... maybe compared to their foreign counterparts, but not at all compared to Japanese supermarkets. The amount of food you get for the price is not as efficient unless you're doing the really cheap stuff like fried chicken. But a 2-slice sandwich with thinly-placed ingredients costs as much if not more than a whole bento at a supermarket. Also, while quality is better than American 7/11, being Japanese doesn't make it healthy. You pay for the convenience, which is great for what they're supposed to be. But there are too many shorts flexing about eating conbini sandwiches all trip after spending all money on a flight ticket---Go to local restaurants. At least during lunch, you spend the same if not less on teishoku. Conbinis aren't cheap, Japanese food is just cheap in general at the basic level.
I don't feel like most people compare the convenience stores to supermarkets but to their own country's convenience stores.
Can confirm, Nandos in Australia is Not out of business
I wonder if it's just this region of Europe that's just used to this quality. In Poland there's a brand of stores that is also on every corner and in terms of convenience, sold goods and quality of food (also ones ready to eat and/or heat on the spot) is pretty up there, not on the level of Japanese konbinis but actually close. When I was in Japan this March, I really liked all the konbinis, and I agree that they're a great thing, but also really started to appreciate our Polish Żabkas. Only thing I wish is that they'd be 24/7 and not 6-23.
Eeiii we are vibing with Zabka. Godsend on Sunday especially
I've been going to Japan for almost a decade now and damn do I still love konbini. The ones with sitting areas are especially good. You can just go buy a drink, a pizza bun, or any other snack and just chill for however long until the next thing you have to do and it's great.
Nandos is everywhere in Australia, and it's fantastic, don't know what Joey is talking about
probs not in the L eastern states
@@sambros2 I live in Melbourne and there are plenty
@@sambros2they are numerous here in Sydney, and I see a few in Canberra
3:14 Yeah Canadian Nando's ain't that good. You can find a local Portuguese Chicken place and get way cheaper food that tastes way better. Especially in Montreal and the GTA
The konbinis are fantastic, the prices being so low is the biggest part of it though. I can get pretty much anything i need in one where im from as well but theyre not open 24/7 and theyre much more expensive. I also felt like the japanese products were also much better made for the konbinis themselves, every item sold there is very convenient.
7:37 MR EDITOR? DID CONNOR REALLY MAKE THAT NOISE?!
Nando's still going strong in Australia. Joey probably meant just his one nearest outlet closing.
Nandos have definitely died out with dozens of stores closing down however they're probably at the stage of a business where they hit their peak and went down and remained stagnant
French still salty about no longer being lingua Franca.
I think this is a prespective thing but overall japanese combinis are a pretty good experience. Much better than in most countries.
I switched from Hot & Spicy Pringles to the Cheese & Chilli one and after eating that, the regular Hot & Spicy taste like water.
We do have Nandos in Canada.
I love mudan's assessment of LA
mudan vlog👀
dude france has mad cheap cocktails most of the time, i wouldn't pay more than 7 euro for one NOT during happy hour.
wtf is goin on with cocktails in your europe
i live in germany and the average cocktail price is something like 8 for an expensive one
You binned hot sauce on the expiry date??? Who does that?!?!?😂😂 adorable
rich people lol
What's going to happen, is hot sauce going to upset your stomach?
Nah, convenience stores in Japan are fecking great. Better than anywhere else I've been
.... onigiri is gluten free
Apples too, but you won't it that every time
Most mochi/rice desserts is gluten free
Megan Rapinoe is such a hater. Also didnt know she was Estonian.
“The vibe is correct” 👾
I am in japan right now and i dont know what happen to conveniance stores' onigiri since my last visite in 2016, but the two times i bought one they had close to nothing inside. I would be surprise if it had more than half a tea spoon of filling.
In The North there's a better bakery than Greggs...Carrs! the Best Pastie shop there is!
He is right. They are great just not God's gift.
U.S. gas stations have gotten weirdly good as well. Cumberland Farms on the East Coast is a gas station and it serves better food than a lot of restaurants now. 7-Eleven is still toxic waste tho.
Mudan likes Paris???? Whuuuuutttt????😰😰😰
The vibe is definitely better in Japanese bars BUT I think some western bars just make better stiffer and stronger drinks.
They need to go to a bucee's
Nandos is reverse colonising the English 😂
Yo, thailand has the 3rd largest 7Eleven numbers in the world. What do you meant Thailand don't have Kombini culture?
he said Thailand
UK food couldnt get worse, id hope its going up.
0:28 actually rice doesn’t have gluten so riceballs can count as gluten free food
From cali, he’s not wrong. Definitely 3rd world down there these days.
No context 7:38
Nah they are great the hype is well deserved.
Taiwanese have the best convenience stores in the world
There are many convenience stores in Taiwan that do not have restrooms.
@@j-type2112 yeah, but the food choices are broad and awesome.
1st world issue
Bro looks like Ferb if he was a trans male🤣🤣☠️
False
Wow this guy is a bit of a …..
Where tf is connor getting cocktails in the uk, even in one of the Richest parts of England i can get 2 cocktails for £10
bang
Damn
Americans agree downtown LA is a 3rd world country lol
My 7 eleven has homeless people outside
Yeah, I've not made it in and out of my 7 eleven without being asked for money in like 2 years. (Well.. maybe it's 4 out of 5 times.. but you get what I mean. )
