    Your attention to detail matches mine.
    Most instructors don’t want you to sweat the small stuff so they skip over, what I think, is a lot of key information for those who are absolutely clueless on what they are trying to learn.

    Good video. One comment. Instead of using two 45 degree elbows, I'm pretty sure you can use a single long sweep 90 degree ell. The 90 long actually has slightly lower resistance to flow and two connections opposed to four for the 45's.

    Simpler system in west Africa was an accordian part similar to what you had in the rear of the toilet (without that whole kit and kaboodle parts) and a straight pvc pipe to the suk-away (sewage). Same size pipes but fewer bells and whistles. If you can get a direct line to your sewage pipe, all you need is gravity.

    Invest in a T handle nut runner it torqued for the correct weight for the sized nut for your hose clamps. Try using pvc pipe cleaner and then the glue if you want to be more like a “professional plumber”. The smaller screws that he was saying it to mount the W/C to the floor they get the longer screw and the tank gets mounted to the floor with the smaller screws.

      I presume that a Saniflo can be used with a siphonic toilet bowl (that has a relatively high water level and `flushes' to zero water level when the cistern is flushed) which is the industry standard toilet in North America. `Washdown' type toilets, usual in Europe, can also be used.

We normally wouldn't use an S trap because of siphonage, but I won't nit-pick lol.     • @MarlinRoth
      @MarlinRoth Před rokem +3

      I’m a plumber and every plumber hates these. These toilets do not work when you have a power outage because the pump cannot turn on, so you will possibly overflow the toilet. Additionally, the 3” gasket leaks poopy water after a few years on many models. Another problem is that the pump will maybe last 10 years if you’re lucky (the saniflo website even says this). After 10-12 years, you may get poopy water all over your bathroom from the pump failing and then have to clean it up, buy a new Saniflo toilet or pump, and then wait for it to happen again in ten more years.
      Tearing up the concrete to make a permanent conventional toilet drain is a little messy and noisy but it’s a once-and-done job. PVC drain line will last forever under the concrete if you install it right.
      Normal toilets function by gravity and you can buy a cheap toilet for $100. Most toilets have readily available repair parts at any hardware store. The saniflo is at least ten times the price if not 20 times the price, depending what model you get, and you have to special order the repair parts.
      If you or your kids flush things in the saniflo that it shouldn’t have in it, it will also clog it eventually. Macerating pumps should only have poop, pee, water, and toilet paper flushed into them. Dental floss, hygiene products, “flushable” wipes, etc, will possibly gum the blades up and burn the pump out.

    • @Martindyna
      @Martindyna Před 9 měsíci

      @@MarlinRoth Sanilfo started in France and my impression is that they are well engineered units.
      From Saniflo website:-
      1. `Saniflo products lasts about 10 to 15 years, if not longer. They have been tested for about 50,000 cycles, flushed 10 x a day = 3,650 flushes a year. As this was a standard test, it was stopped at 50,000 cycles, therefore they will last much longer'
      2. `Maintenance is not required for any of our products. However, we recommend the use Saniflo's Descaler which acts as a cleanser and descaler'.
      I agree that kids chucking stuff in the toilet that they shouldn't will be the most likely hazard with these units.

    • @MarlinRoth
      @MarlinRoth Před 9 měsíci

      @@Martindyna I agree in some sense that the engineering is impressive as a method of avoiding cutting into concrete, but they are much more disgusting and expensive to fix/replace when they have problems than a normal toilet would be. Generally a conventional toilet could last 20-50 years without any major issues if it is installed correctly, and by the time it has an issue, a handy homeowner can repair it for less than $50, or they can replace the toilet it for less than $300.

    • @Martindyna
      @Martindyna Před 9 měsíci

      @@MarlinRoth Definitely an unappealing job to attend to a failed Saniflo full of 💩 😂.
      Perhaps could be made less unpleasant if another connection is made under the additional ball valve he fitted on the 1” outlet pipe.
      Then you could perhaps use a wet vac on the new connection while pouring fresh water into the toilet?
      The wet vac connection would of course have to be as close to the Saniflo unit’s height as possible since any ‘head’ will reduce the chance of success (can’t ‘suck’ more than 1 metre head of water as you know).
