- A Tony Award-winner for the musical "Hamilton," Leslie Odom Jr. has now earned two Academy Award nominations for the drama "One Night in Miami," in which he plays famed singer Sam Cooke. Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Odom about his remarkable career, from his teenage debut in Broadway's "Rent," to the possibilities that have opened up since his role as Aaron Burr in the groundbreaking "Hamilton."

He made me believe he was Aaron Burr. I saw a gifted talent that made me forget Burr was white. I'm rooting for him to snag those Oscars! The man is phenomenal as well as a down to earth human being. The world is a better place with him in it. To quote the song, "He blew us all away."
He has a voice of an angel. In all my 55 years on earth I haven't heard such a voice speak to me the way his does. Love.
