  • Loving Vincent is beautiful, and it's hard to say much more than that. Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman have crafted a visual masterpiece by making a fully-painted film, but I think the structure of the film is underrated. In this video essay, I look at the sense of truth in life and art.

@@elizabethbennet4791 Why does anything involving mr. Van Gogh always has this curse of late-bloomer ? they never got the recognition they deserve in time.

Van Gogh i viewed by most people as art for artists, so most people when they hear about this movie think it's another poorly made appreciation movie :/

As a 5'7" Dutch painter, who was also born on March 30th, I have a certain feeling of connecting with this man....NO where near his talent, NO WHERE....but I do feel as though I understood him as a man and an artist through all the years of research I have done, I have seen some of his work in person and it is beyond moving.

Bravo, truly a beautiful homage to one of the most sorrowful souls ever to walk this earth. The amount of respect and love poured into this film and analysis is breathtaking, even the very existence of its being is enough to invoke overwhelming emotion. To think if Vincent was to see how much joy he brought to people now he would be overwhelmed with grandiose emotions that of which is not seen even on the most tremendous occasions in a regular persons life. Kudos to you for introducing me to this magnificent love letter to one of the greatest artist to ever live.

Your script is amazing. Your words made feel the same that the film did the first time. I found myself in tears at some points of the video. Your way of expressing feelings through words is magical ✨🌻

A very beautifully put together video that does justice to a beautifully made movie. You make some very good points about the subjective nature of truth and reality and how that is seen in both life and art. Great job and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

I absolutely adore this movie. I wish more people talked about it, but this video I think does a great job of describing why it's such a great movie. It's visually gorgeous, but the story and characters grip you just as hard while letting you form your own opinion on Vincent Van Gogh.

The movie is commercially success.but aside from that, van gogh is remembered now as the father of post modern art (i dont know the exact term though)that's what it matters.

What a phenomenal video, I cannot believe it took me this long to watch it, Loving Vincent was and is one of the greatest works of love and dedication put to paper and canvas and it is an absolute travesty it lost to coco in the awards shows because if anything, it needed more eyes on it.

thank you so much for making this video. I just watched the film two nights ago and this video means a lot too me.
I don't understand how people can spend so much time talking about films, books, shows, comics and movies they do not like, but when they see something they do they don't want to make a video on it. I personally try to make almost all of my talking videos on things I like.
Anyway, the film did imspire me, as a artist and as a person a lot. Really it did.
As a artist, because- well it is beautful. No one can say it isn't really. And I've been a fan of Van goth's for a good many years now. I've seen the paintings, seen the movies watched the documenters on him tried to copy he's work on my own as best I could in some ways. He's made me love the nature around my wooded home even more then I already did. And I think if he had ever come to West Virginia, he could have apprsated our hills and endless sea of trees. But he also makes me yurn too see other places and draw them like how he did. I want too travel America, maybe even the world at large, and see what is out there, and what God put their for us too love.
Vincent has also helped me too understand mental health a little better. Now a days everyone has some kind of problem, and I know why, but still, I just don't even know anymore.

Since his death, the legacy of Vincent Van Gogh lives and this film was one of those exceptions of his legacy and he'd one of those artists that inspired me to try to paint. God bless you Vincent Van Gogh.

My mother took me to see this on a weekend back when it first opened in theaters while my father was out of town signing books as part of his job. My mom is a retired graphic design teacher who also studies art history and new innovative projects like this one from foreign countries. When she first told me about this film once news of it went viral, I had never heard of the movie yet as I don't really follow up on recent news of anything experimental from foreign countries, nor did I know much about Van Gogh's life either. But upon watching this movie with her in the theaters, we later took dad out to see one night and I can tell he really enjoyed it. It also put me curious to study the man's life more and check out any new recent biopic movies about Vincent like the Gate to Eternity starring Willem Dafoe.😉

Nice video. Warning: if you read a van gogh bio, you will be left scratching your head at how anyone could love him. Van gogh was a mooch and a maniac. It is pleasant though to think how memory takes on a life of its own once someone is gone. As far as genius, he couldn't paint, but accidentally discovered his style. Movies like this feel like fingers in the dam of his myth.

Eh no? The Old Man and Sea is glass painted while this is canvas. Secondly noone says that this was the first instalment where this technic was used. They authors has made man shorts using this technic years before they made LV. This movie is however the first FEATURE LENGHT movie made with it.
