He should have won Best Supporting Actor in 1968 for Oliver! Jack Albertson was a great actor who got the award that year, but Jack Wild stole the movie in many people's opinion!!!!!
Watching this makes me so sad to realize that society, the world, and entertainment can NEVER be this great again! These were certainly some of the best of times, and I'm so very happy to have witnessed them first hand (I was 13 when this first aired) and remembered when both Englebert (my late Mom just adored him) and Tom Jones had their own weekly variety shows.
You're absolutely right but today's young people 35 and under Don't care about this or anything else from the past or entertainment from the 1960s through the 1980s when people and times were much much better than Now!!!!!
@@PhoenixLyon Yep! And Fave and Flip...the late 60's through early-mid 70's were a pre-teen and teen girl's dream come true, with so many "idols" to crush on...The Monkees, The Cowsills (esp. After the Krofft Brothers live show at the Hollywood Bowl during the early 1970s, Marty Krofft tried to persuade Jack Wild to remain in Hollywood and audition for other roles. But the young boy decided to go back to the U.K. and focus working on more prestigious British series. A great pity. Jack would have been a welcome guest performer on American variety shows like Donny and Marie, Sonny and Cher, Van Dyke and Company, even Shields and Yarnell. I myself am surprised that he didn't guest star on The Carol Burnett Show and The Julie Andrews Hour.
@@scottmiller6495 Yes indeed. It would have been fantastic. Think about Jack Wild also guest starring on popular hit TV shows of the 1970s like The Love Boat, Fantasy Island or Happy Days. Jack and Suzy Quatro who played Leather Tuscadero on HD were going to star in a TV musical about Bonnie and Clyde. But it didn't materialize. Heavy sigh.
Jack had given up Booze 16 yrs & Smokes 10 yrs Before his Death, He was with his wife 10 years prior, and just happened to Get married a year before he passed away. Read her Book!
Engel truly fits the part he really does look like a gorgeous Gypsy King, they use to call me Gypsy when I was young I guess because of my long black hair and my fancy gypsy earrings and brackets that I wore.Great video ,just loved it.Thanks for posting this
I am verry confused, though. I thought Jack's character was supposedly in love with the gypsy girl and now he's moderating a duel and congratulating the 70s chad who won?
This guy was more talented than people realise
I agree!! He was so underrated. It's too bad that he had the issues he had with alcoholism smoking which robbed him of his life way to early.

he was SO short!
he's 18 in this vid !!!

Jack Wild was so insanely talented - impeccable timing and a natural performer and dancer!

Jack was such a Hearthrob, my wall was covered as a tween. Belonged to his fanclub too.🥰💙🌺
Mine too CaroleAnn. Posters were such a part of a girl's life in the 60s and 70s.
Jack was why I loved "Oliver!". Gods...where would we girls have been without 16, Teen, Tiger Beat etc.? LOL ✌😸
He was my first crush as a little girl in the mid seventies

My dad bought his album for me & my best friend & I played it until it skipped. We thought he was such a cutie w/his Brit accent 💕
Jack has huge charisma and outshines the rest.
You'll never ever see again anything like this ever again Ever PERIOD!!!!!
He had such a sad end to his life … RIP Jack
He was actually happy before his death, which makes me happy. 💙💯
Jack was definitely an old soul.
NOOO!!
H.R. Pufnstuf WAS MY favorite every day after school program! Very talented performer in singing and funny fun to watch. I miss those day's!
Jack what a lovely act brilliantly performed.

Just imagine The Artful Dodger interacting with Mary Poppins or Eliza Dolittle on The Julie Andrews Hour.

LOVE YOU FOREVER, RESPECT, TENDRESSE. NELLY, BELGIQUE.
Wonderful 😊.
Beautiful 🥰 I love it.
Wow, only 18 in this show
I just now looked up his height and he was 5'8". All of the women tower over him.
@@wordsofcheresie936 - Nah, he’s under 5’2”. Engelbert is 6’1”.
According to his autobiography he was 4'10''.
And divorced at 14. 😄

Fuck yeah this shit rocks
Great 👌 comedy,
Jack should’ve been an ongoing actor. I don’t understand why more shows didn’t pick him up. Wasted talent 😢
Cockney lad. I'm from Australia and grew up learning about our convict past.
Wasn't there an Australian children's television series entitled THE ESCAPE OF THE ARTFUL DODGER ???
